Not a whole lot that's new hoop wise, but the locations are so nice I had to use this footage for something! This is kind of the forest version of "late light city hall".

Re: forest light
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 1:28 AMThank u for the perfect start to my day Khan. The sun is shining in the Uk today and I'm just about to sit in it and do my 15 Minute Miracle. Thank you once more for such a beautiful hoop film.

Tue, May 6, 2008 - 1:36 AMBeautiful Khan. I love the setting and the dappled sunlight and of course it is always a pleasure to see you. Lovely hooping also. Your editing is also really good. I'm curious how you made yourself fade out there at the end. That was a very neat effect.

Tue, May 6, 2008 - 5:52 AMWow, that was beautiful, indeed.
Hmm. I need to make use of the beautiful Austin area.
All this outdoor inspiration lately.
Thanks, Khan. Always love your videos.

Re: forest light
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 7:09 AMAwesome video. There's a lot to comment on. At 3:14 - 3:17 you do a crossing weave that was different than I've seen. It adds a lot of grace to a simple move by always spinning on your opposite hand. I need to try that. Your shoulder roles are impeccable, in both directions! And I loved the one tree front horizontal isolation that you pull over your body to an immediate one tree horizontal isolation on the other side. Then there is all the other stuff you did. Your fluency in both currents is great.

Tue, May 6, 2008 - 7:17 AMwow - at the minute mark (and the 2 minute, and again at the very end..) you look like you are using a hoop of pure light with all of that sunshine beaming down... your hooping was so peaceful to watch - very calming. i really enjoyed this video.

Tue, May 6, 2008 - 8:08 AMKhan - Your grace filled me with joy this morning, thank you. I love to watch you flow, this is now my fave video of yours. What a wonderland to hoop in, I'm a little jealous - all I've got right now is the dry, dusty desert. Hope to see you in June! -

Re: forest light
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 8:19 AMSweet! I love the intro and the exit. And I enjoyed the various perspectives. Your hooping has such smoothness and grace. Your touch on the vertical plane is light and really in tune. Beautiful. Made me smile.

Re: forest light
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 10:58 AMI've always loved your isolations, but all the hooping here is so beautiful. Meditative and beautiful. I especially loved the hooping in the trees where all the little insects can be seen flitting around in the sunlight. It seems as if all of nature has come out into the spring, including the forest hooper!
Thank you.
Inspirational as ever.

Re: forest light
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 11:42 AMThanks everybody! It was fun editing a video again as my past few have been single-shots.
Caroleeena, to answer your question re: the fade out. You need a shot of the setting without you in it -- a few seconds minimum. Then shoot with you in the shot. In the editing process (post-production, so to speak ;p) use a cross-dissolve between the two. To achieve the fading away effect it's very important that the camera remains exactly the same for both the "blank" shot and the shot you're in. The best thing to do is run the camera on the scene before you step into it to hoop (or whatever). -

Re: forest light
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 12:23 PMBeautiful! Kara and I were hooping in a beautiful Oregon spot yesterday and chatting about this video. I tired to do the isolation and then flip over move that you do so well. I *don't* do it so well. :) Thanks for sharing your lovely footage and mad skillz. -
