Hey everyone. Because of Gangi Butts adorable vid she recently shared with us, I explored using Vimeo.com this week. I'm really impressed and wanted to share with you all. Comparing this video site to youtube here are the benefits that I found:
-You can upload a video that is 500 MB compared to 100 MB on youtube
-I thought the audio sound was way better
-uploading was faster
-processing was faster
-they offer a "full screen" button so you can enlarge the video to see more
Here is a clip of me on vimeo and youtube, if you would like to compare. Nothing to exciting, just trying to practice the Hoop Path technique of "paddling". Hope this info may be able to some of you. Much love.

Re: Vimeo-A good thing
Sat, March 15, 2008 - 9:07 AMVimeo is excellent. I've just watched your video with clear sound and good quality picture in dim lighting and no breaks as it downloads. Switched into YouTube and instantly the sound is tinny the video more grainy and I'm getting it a few seconds at a time with breaks as it down loads the next bit. I think it's getting worse. I often have to let a video play through with the sound off in a background window now so that I can watch it properly when it's in my cache.
All my video's (not that there are many) are on Vimeo.
Thanks for doing this clear test Colleen. A good idea.

Re: Vimeo-A good thing
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 6:20 AMUm...I just created an account and it says I have 500mb of free video to upload. I am trying to find out where it says what it costs to upload over that amount but I can't find it. Any ideas? I have about 15 -20 minutes of some tasty video of Spiral at SXSW last night and I thought I could just upload it without trying to reduce the quality first. Hummm. I'll keep digging. (Be on the lookout. She was hot.) -

Re: Vimeo-A good thing
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 6:48 AMHey Lucian. My understanding is that you get 500mb per week, week ending on Sunday's at midnight. I don't think that that you can go over that, even if willing to pay. I could be wrong though.

Re: Vimeo-A good thing
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 9:20 PMHowdy! i'm so glad vimeo is looking good for you. It's a wonderful site. So I've created a new channel on vimeo for hooping videos. Right now I'll be moderating if but if anyone wants to moderate it just let me know! Hoop hoop away!
www.vimeo.com/channel6649
So if you want your hooping video on the channel you can add a link in the "Shout Out" box on the right hand side of the page.
Hooray!

Re: Vimeo-A good thing
Tue, March 18, 2008 - 2:55 AMI use google video for uploading bigger files (thanks to Surprise!). I've uploaded videos as large as 571MB and I have several videos that large on my account. As far as I know, there isn't a weekly limit (or any limit). If you want to check out the quality, this is a video I made of Bax last summer. I didn't have my camera settings on the highest quality when I took this, so I'm not sure how much better it would look on Vimeo.

If you want to listen to the sound quality, I think this one is pretty true to how the stereo system at my studio sounds:
