Drag King song

topic posted Sat, May 10, 2008 - 4:13 PM by  Caroleeena
I am going to a drag party last night. I'm told I have to be a drag king, which is a male version of a drag queen. I need a good song. I've had some ideas but nothing I love. Maybe ya'll could help. Here are the ideas I've had so far:

Hick Hop - Asylum Street Spankers
Fire - Ohio Players (I'm thinking of doing fire)
Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash
Greased Lightning - John Travolta
Macho Man - Village People

I have long hair so maybe some glam metal band song or Marilyn Manson song...

I dunno. I like being a girl. This is hard for me.

    Some other thoughts I had:

    When Doves Cry - Prince
Billy Jean - Michael Jackson (I'd need to learn to dance)
On the Road Again - Willie Nelson (I could grey and braid my hair for this)
Faith - George Michael (I'd need a short wig)
Copacabana - Barry Manilow (again with the short wig)
Church of the Poison Mind - Boy George (Is that cheating?)

Whoever I choose, I'll need a drag king name too. I swear! This is hard.

Just a Gigolo. The original version...it's a swing song originally.

I had an ongoing gig performing in drag in a cabaret show. SOooo much fun. I LOVED being `the guy'. And the girls loved it too. Come to think of it, the guys loved it too!!! Then again, this IS San Francisco... I got fake hair and put it all over my chest. Eeeeeewwww! And if I'm too late for the party, just think, you could be the first DRAG KING hoop instructor. ZZzzzzexy! ;) I'll bet there's a market for that in the bigger cities...kind of like the girl who does S/M yoga classes here;)

OK, no really, I need to know more about S/M yoga classes. I mean, honestly, I swear that our yoga instructor, Scott (a big sweetie) is trying to kill us. How can you make it more S/M than that?
        Whips in warrior II?

It's really, really slow, but I love the new Chris Cornell cover of Billie Jean.
    It's dark and sad. Lovely.

How about some music from The Black Sweden? They're heavy metalish, but they do these covers/blends of Abba.
Maybe you'd like Ballroom Blitz-Dancing Queen, Enter Sandman-Take A Chance On Me, or Ain't Talking About Love-Money.

I haven't tormented the HoopPathers with any of these in my jam mixes...YET! :-D

These are all great ideas. Thanks for helping me everyone. I had another idea last night! If I can get a drag queen to do it with me it would be superfun to do:

Paradise by the Dashboard Lights by Meatloaf!

I could be the guy and he could be the girl I'm trying to talk into "going all the way". Wouldn't that be hysterical?

love that song..have you seen his son and him do it on one of the phone commercials?
if i'm not mistaken, it's a REALLY long one..kind of a total role reversal on how the song was written...but stil girl-guy trying to pick up guy-girl..when they were 17..the radio broadcast one is not as long.

        clever!

Hey Caroleeena! I don't know why, but the first song that came to mind for this is Ice, Ice, Baby by Vanilla Ice. Haaaa!!
