Aloha kakou (greetings all!),

Welcome especially to all the new people who have just joined. I've been "away" from Tribe lately, and so am far behind!

I just got back from a very busy, very fruitful visit to Honolulu. I went for a conference on teen sexuality, and to do some research at the Bishop Museum. I also swam every day, saw Sonny Ching's halau perform, ate at a homeless shelter, went to a Native Hawaiian poetry reading, and visited some of the more obscure sacred and/or cultural sites around the Nu'uanu area. I also had an encounter with the oddest baby crustacean I've ever imagined. It was almost like an "aumakua" encounter. The thing looked like a cranberry with eyes, and had little tail, claws, feet that folded into itself.

As part of my research -- purely by chance, I found that the gesture I am making in my new icon (from a student hula performance I did) -- with the hands tipped almost like a roof line -- was actually the gesture that used to be made to create a "temple" when there was no time to build one of stones. It's rather interesting to me that I felt the need last month to focus on this gesture, along with creating a new Tribe name.

I think that what is really moving many of us right now is this notion of creating sacred space where we can come together.

So experiment with this gesture, energetically. What happens when you make it? What do you feel inside? Can you bring a conscious feeling of sacredness to your life, in that moment, when you do it? I'm going to try this anyhow, and see what happens!

In addition, I picked up a new book on Ho'oponopono. It's called "Ho'oponopono -- Traditional Ways of Healing to Make Thngs Right Again" by Malcom Naea Chun, as part of the Ka Wana Series from the Curriculum Research & Development Group, University of Hawai'i.
I got it at the Bishop Museum, but Native Books Hawai'i probably has it, or you may be able to order from the Bishop Museum. Try see!

There is a lot of "buzz" out there, right now, about this process and I'd like to help bring clarity and share thoughts on this topic, for whoever is interested.

Warm aloha,
Amy Waihili aka Hunakai

I haven't been very active on Tribe for the last few months, and have been going through some major upheavals. (Hence the name change...which means "sea spray").

There is a growing interest in Ho'oponopono however, and I'm wondering how to best serve those who are interested, or how we can best serve each other. Any ideas, thoughts, questions?

I've also fallen into a situation where I've been doing a ho'oponopono ritual for a group of people via teleconference, once a month. It's actually quite wonderful and people seem to be happy with it. This was initiated by someone else. It's a new role for me to be doing something like that, but it seems to be my direction. I've attempted to make use of a yahoo group for those folks and if I can get it up and running, I'll let you all know about it too.
July 10, 2007

Aloha,

The fight to complete the Hawai'i 2050 Sustainability Plan continues. We were disappointed to learn that, despite the media spotlight (read the Honolulu Advertiser's latest story here) and the outpouring of community support for Hawai'i 2050, this morning the Governor vetoed HB 1270.

This critical bill will complete the Hawai'i 2050 Sustainability Plan, the state's first sustainability plan.

However, the state Legislature can overturn her veto. You can support the Hawai'i 2050 Sustainability Plan by contacting these legislative leaders:

Speaker of the House Calvin Say at (808) 586-6100 or repsay@capitol.hawaii.gov
House Majority Leader Kirk Caldwell at (808) 586-8475 or repcaldwell@capitol.hawaii.gov
Senate President Colleen Hanabusa at (808) 586-7793 or senhanabusa@capitol.hawaii.gov

Time is critical. The state Legislature will vote on whether or not to overturn the Governor's veto within the next few hours. Please take a moment to call or e-mail Speaker Say, House Majority Leader Caldwell and Senate President Hanabusa. Let them know that Hawai'i 2050 is vital to creating a sustainable future for our economy, our environment and our special Island culture.
The following is a forward from Jack Kelly's Green Flash News. it is about an urgent situation on Hawai'i island, regarding the sacred site of Ahu'Ena heiau (on the "grounds" of the King Kemehameha Hotel.) I would like to ask that all who feel moved to support the Native Hawaiian caretakers do so by writing a letter (see below), and also doing any form of prayer and ho'oponopono that you feel is appropriate.

There is still a great deal of sacred energy at Ahu'Ena and all the other heiaus in Hawai'i, and only the rightfully designated "kahu" (caretakers) really know how to malama the places. We need to respest this tradition, and to urge corporations to do so as well.
Press Release:

Rally to Support Continuity at Ahu’ena Heiau in Kona

July 1, 2007 Kailua-Kona, HI

A Rally was held yesterday to support Kulana Huli Honua in their care of Ahu’ena Heiau, beginning at 4:00pm. The rally, Ke Alo Naue I Ka Honua (meaning The Presence that Moves the Earth) was attended by Hawaiian heavyweights Kale Gumapac of Hui Pa’a and the Kanaka Council, Palikapu Dedman of the Pele Defense Fund and Kanaka Council, Jimmy Medeiros, of Protect Keopuka Ohana and the Kanaka Council. Also in attendance was Uncle George Naope, Kumu Hula, is the Founder of the Merrie Monarch Festival and a Hawaiian Living Treasure. All were there to lend their support to Mikahala Roy as Kahu (caretaker) of Ahu’ena Heiau.

The King Kamehameha Hotel was built on the site in 1975 in conjunction with the restoration of Ahu’ena Heiau. David Kahelemauna Roy, Jr. supervised the project with the Bishop Museum. Ka’imi Spinney was Kahu of the heiau until his passing, when David Roy was recognized as Kahu. Mikahala Roy has been Kahu of the heiau since April 6, 2005, when David Roy named Mikahala Roy and Kaleokalani Nakoa as his successors at his passing.

The new corporate owners of the hotel, Pacifica Hotels Co., claim that they will provide their own caretaker for the heiau.

The rally began at the Kona pier adjoining the heiau. Mikahala said that the Hawaiian people, their customs and sacred sites are endangered species in Hawaii. 70% of Hawaiians live without houses. This pier (black asphalt) was constructed on Kamakahonu, Eye of the Turtle. This site was chosen by Kamehameha the Great because of its sacredness and mana. “Under this concrete is a turtle stone. How old is that stone? What is your connection to it?” She asked the crowd. “How many places can you go to see a pier? How many kamakahonus are there? This is what we are talking about”. The desecration of our holy places by people who only understand greed and who do not know what they are taking away.

Jack Kelly stated that the new owners needed to be taught the ways of this place. “They are from out of town. There is a way of doing things in Hawaii that they do not know. It is our job to educate them, as it is better for them, the community, their business and the people.” “This is our Kahu,” he said, his hand on Mikahala’s back.

“We’re all here to support Mikahala Roy as Kahu,” said Kale Gumapac. “Our ancestors brought us together to do this sacred task. Our ancestors are up there talking to each other right now! We all came to Hawaii for a reason, and today that reason was made clear, to protect this sacred site“.

“So many people here are concerned with the disappearing species of plants. It’s time that they also become concerned with the disappearing people. We have a government that doesn’t support or protect the Hawaiian people,” said Palikapu Dedman.

“There should be more Hawaiians here,” said Uncle Naope George. He later added, “The Creator made this place and made it holy.”

Barbara Moore, proprietor of the Dragonfly Ranch, said that though she had lived in Hawaii for 38 years, she was humbled by how much she still had to learn. She said that many of people were there because they know that the disappearing Hawaiians and their culture is likely the very culture that will save the future. She stated her intention to fly to Oahu to talk to the new owners of the hotel to help them understand what this place is and means, as her offering.

“This is my religion,” said Jimmy Medeiros, highlighting the importance of the event. No outsider would tell the Vatican to replace their caretaker, nor would anyone allow it.

Kealoha Pisciotta, Kahu of Mauna Kea, said it is time to send light to the new owners and to enlighten them. There are only 6000 full blood Hawaiians left! There are so many people who come here for healing and for paradise. Paradise is a consciousness, a way of being, it is aloha. By taking away the people who live aloha, our culture and our sacred places, it is taking away the very reason that people want to come here.

Mikahala Roy asked for prayers. Some attendees, who missed the initial gathering at the pier but were interested in the rally, asked what was going on. When informed that the new corporate hotel owners appointed a new caretaker of the heiau, a man laughed and said, “Kind of like the Chinese Government appointing the next Dalai Lama.”

This year the carvings encircling Ahu‘ena are draped in white. The effect is very brilliant. Mikahala said she was looking for maaloa plant to make the whitest tapa. She said they pray that it still exists.

The group then moved to the heiau for prayers. Though the rally was scheduled to end at 5:30pm, many attendees lingered much later, until around 8:00 and still others until 11:00pm. The feeling of Ohana was very tangible.

If you are moved to lend support to the continued stewardship of Ahu’ena Heiau, send a letter to Mike Bernard, president of the Pacifica Hotel Co. Pacifica Hotel Company 1933 Cliff Dr. Suite 1 Santa Barbara, CA 93109 (805) 957-0095 Fax: (805) 899-2426. Let him know to not interfere with Hawaiian sacred sites!

Aloha kakou,
This press release is from the people who have been working hard for many, many years to stop further telescope expansion on Mauna Kea, and to protect their sacred mountain. The documentary by Joan Lander and Puhipau, "Mauna Kea: Temple Under Siege," can be found at Na Maka o Ka 'Aina website and will give you much background on this. The ruling announced below is an important victory, won not only in court but through continuous pule (prayer) and, I daresay, ho'oponopono may have played a part as well.
------------------

Mauna Kea Ruling Halts Telescope Expansion

Hawai‘i Land Board Rebuked for Ignoring Law Requiring Comprehensive Planning

Building new observatories atop Mauna Kea will now be more difficult after a Hawai‘i judge ordered the state’s Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) to come up with a comprehensive plan that protects the mountain’s natural and cultural resources.

Third Circuit Court Judge Glenn S. Hara issued his final order this week, voiding BLNR’s permit for six new Keck “outrigger” telescopes proposed by NASA, the University of California, Caltech and the University of Hawaii. In issuing the order, Hara affirmed his January 19, 2007 ruling on the permit and rejected a UH Institute for Astronomy petition to reconsider it.

The order comes at a time when astronomers are vigorously pushing two new summit projects, an Air Force telescope to scan the sky for near-space objects and a giant University of California/Caltech thirty-meter optical-infrared telescope.

The judge rejected BLNR’s approval of the outriggers because BLNR failed to adopt a comprehensive management plan that conserves the natural and cultural resources of the summit, a state-designated “conservation district.” The judge ruled that BLNR’s approval was “not consistent with the Legislature’s stated purpose for managing the Conservation District” and that “the resource to be conserved, protected, and preserved is the summit area of Mauna Kea.”

He further affirmed that appropriate management is for the promotion of the long term sustainability of the protected resources of Mauna Kea. The 14,000-foot volcano, sacred to Native Hawaiians, is home to fragile ecosystems and ancient cultural and religious sites.

“Judge Hara’s order makes clear that Mauna Kea must be managed in the public’s interest for conservation, not to promote observatory development for international astronomy,” said Kealoha Pisciotta of Mauna Kea Anaina Hou, which joined Sierra Club, the Royal Order of Kamehameha I and several Native Hawaiians as a plaintiff in the lawsuit that led to the order.

The ruling challenges the legal status of the University of Hawai‘i’s 2000 Master Plan and the UH Office of Mauna Kea Management the plan created—neither reviewed nor approved by BLNR. Environmentalists and Hawaiians have long urged Hawai‘i’s Legislature to create an independent management authority composed of representatives of the conservation district’s legally defined rightholders—Hawai‘i citizens, in whose interest the district was created, and Native Hawaiians who by law are beneficiaries of Mauna Kea’s ceded lands. Funding for the proposed agency would come from lease rents assessed on existing observatories who now pay the state only one dollar a year and forfeit some observatory time to UH in exchange for their district subleases.

“This ruling is significant for all conservation districts where astronomy development is proposed, including Haleakala as well as Mauna Kea,” said Clarence Ching, a Native Hawaiian practitioner who was a plaintiff in the suit.

The judge’s order also overruled BLNR’s 1995 attempt to transfer their authority to manage Mauna Kea to UH, which later created its Office of Mauna Kea Management. “Now maybe UH will stop spending public funds to circumvent laws meant to conserve our vulnerable resources for future generations,” said Deborah J. Ward of Sierra Club.

Hara’s ruling opens up the question of what to do about telescopes built under the university’s now defunct master plan, including the Gemini Telescope and at least two of the Smithsonian Institution’s submillimeter antennas. The last BLNR approved plan, created in 1985, allowed only eleven major telescopes (and two then existing small 24 inch telescopes). Depending on how they are counted—a longstanding bone of contention—as many as twenty telescopes now exist on Mauna Kea.

Hara’s ruling was the second legal setback for the observatories. In 2003, Honorable Susan Oki Mollway judge of federal district court, district of Hawai`i, found NASA’s environmental assessment for the outriggers inadequate, a decision that compelled NASA to prepare the first federal EIS ever submitted for a Mauna Kea telescope. Previous U.S. government projects that violated U.S. law requiring such reviews include the NASA Infrared Telescope, the Smithsonian Institution’s Submillimeter Array, the National Radio Astronomy Observatory’s Very Long Base Array and the Gemini Telescope. Both decisions reflect continued public discontent about the way Mauna Kea has been managed by BLNR and UH.

“We pray the state and federal governments take these court decisions to heart,” said Paul Neves of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, “so people will be relieved of the burden of going to court to force these agencies to do their jobs and protect the people’s rights and resources.”

Aloha kakou,
A few days ago I posted the notice below in the events section. Since then, I've been checking in with a few elders and feel confident about this as a thing that can help, spiritually and politically. I will begin to organize information on safe fasting for those who are thinking about participating. You can be anywhere to do this. But I'm hoping small groups of people will gather together and sit during the fast, here or over there, in Hawai'i.

Please contact me if you want to participate, either as a faster, a "kokua" to help watch over the fasters, or if you have a place where people can gather peacefully and quietly for Jan. 16-18 next year. I am interested in knowing who wants to do this so that I can offer support and information to you.

Of key importance is this: search for your stone, the one that will be with you when you fast. Ask permission to move it, if you are going to move it. And ask permission to have it with you during the fast. You will be feeling the stone's energy during your fast. The stones will ground us and teach us.

If this sounds odd to you, please feel free to contact me and ask questions. And spread the word about the fast!

I am dedicating my fast to the memory and guidance of Gwen Leialoha Burrows, as well as to the restoration of the kingdom.
Mahalo!
Waihili
---------

Aloha kakou,

On Jan. 17, 18, 19 in 2008 -- the anniversary of the forcible seizure of the Kingdom of Hawai'i -- people who wish to protest the illegal takeover, annexation, statehood and current condition of the colonized Kingdom of Hawai'i may wish to conduct a one to three day fast in solidarity with "na kanaka maoli" -- the native people -- as well as with the other multi-cultural descendents of Hawaiian nationals (citizens of the Kingdom). These people and their ancestors have lived through generations of brutal repression and exploitation at the hands of American business and military interests. Our fast will ask that this stop, and for the Kingdom to be restored.

Hawai'i's famous protest song, "Kaulana Na Pua," talks about "eating the stones of the land" instead of signing the enemy's paper. There is "mana" (energy) in stones and we will be asking permission to use the energy of chosen rocks to help us in our effort. Of course, water, and liquids which provide electrolytes, will also be important in our fast!

Please contact me for details on training and safe fasting, and the spiritual underpinings of this effort, as well as future logistical details. Anyone who has a place on any of the islands where fasters may sit in peace for three days during this time, please also contact me.

As well as dedicating my fast to the restoration of the Kingdom, I will also be dedicating my efforts to the memory of a friend, an independence activist who passed away on Feb. 5 on Kaua'i. I believe she may have sent me the inspiration for this fast, and the message about the energy of the stones to sustain us in this effort. May Na Akua bless us in this effort and may it be pleasing to Na Aumakua and Na Kupuna, our ancestors and elders, whom we hold in aloha and respect.

With great humility and gratitude,
Waihili

We knew each other through a Hawai'i Independence list and over the years I've been stunned with admiration at her crusty, feisty spirit and "take no prisoners" modes of communication. She was a passionate advocate for Hawaiian independence and did not mince words. And yet she had another side, warm hearted and deeply spiritual. She had access to other realms, and over the last year and a half shared a lot with us, and gave some particular attention to me, as I struggled to make sense of certain inexplicable occurances in my own life. I began to rely on her guidance and insight, and her hope that Light would triumph.

I will be visiting Oahu, Kauai, and Maui between April 29 and May 14, and I am looking to connect with some healers.

If you've had amazing experiences with local healers, I'd love to know about them. I am interested in lomilomi, soul retrieval, and anything that changed your life... I'm getting down to the core issues now, and seeking some hands-on assistance.

I plan to do some hiking and camping, and welcome suggestions for beautiful, spiritual places, preferably off the beaten path.

Any offers for a place to spend the night are much appreciated - all I really need is a spot to hang my camping hammock. I'm happy to trade massage and energy work, even green energy if that's what's most needed. Recommendations for budget accommodations (hostels, etc) would be great, too.

Lastly, if you know of any heart-centered community events happening in late-April to mid-May, please share - I'd really like to connect with some peaceful folks, network a little and enjoy myself, as I am contemplating a move (back) to the islands from Massachusetts.

Peace,
I want to share something about using ho'oponopono, one of many possibilities! For the last several days I have been embroiled in and consumed by a very large, and seemingly hopeless fight against something that would be very harmful to people in one of my personal "tribes," people with environmental illness (details in my tribe blog). Today, we won an important victory and now I must remember to "cut and cleanse" with everyone -- allies and adversaries alike. We became tangled and intimately connected during this pilikia, and now we must relax, unwind, release and forgive.

Later today or tonight I will do a MAJOR ho'oponopono ritual that includes dairy farmers, reporters, city and state officials, advertising people, fragrance manufacturers, fellow activists -- the works!!!

This feels so necessary! And I think the process of ho'oponopono is what has made it possible to fight and perservere with grace and without retaining personal rage.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Lynette Cruz
Phone 284-3460

A Commemoration of Sovereign Sunday

114 Years After the Overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom

On January 16, 1893, United States diplomatic and military personnel
conspired with a small group of individuals to overthrow the
constitutional government of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Under the
direction of the American Minister, John L. Stevens, U.S. Marines
were directed to land at Honolulu Harbor, ostensibly to protect
American lives and property. This action led to the subversion of
the constitutional Government of Hawaii in the interests of
annexation to the United States.

The following is an excerpt from a paper written by Poka Laenui in
1984 that is timely today:

"The movement began with the awakening of my spirit when I read Queen
Liliuokalani's Hawaii's Story. I read first with curiosity, followed
by confusion, then much anger, and finally resolve of what needed to
be done. Here is what I discovered of Hawaii's history.

On January 16, 1893, over 160 American marines landed in peaceful
Honolulu armed with Gatling gun, Howitzer cannons, double cartridge
belts filled with ammunition, carbines and other instruments of war.
The protest by Hawaii's Queen that such landing was a breach of
treaty and international law was simply ignored. The troops marched
along the streets of Honolulu, rifles facing the Queen's palace.

The following day, the resident conspirators numbering 18, mostly
Americans, sneaked to a government building a few yards from where
the American troops lodged the night before. There, an American
lawyer, who had been a resident of Hawaii less than a year previous,
proclaimed they were now the government of Hawaii. Calling
themselves the
"provisional government" and selecting Sanford Dole president, they
were to exist for the explicit purpose and until terms could be
arranged with the U.S. for annexation.

Before the full declaration had been read, the U.S. marines marched
into the building to protect and support them. American Minister
Plenipotentiary and commander of all U.S. forces in Hawaii, John L.
Stevens, gave them immediate recognition as the government of Hawaii
as had been planned. He than joined in their demand that the Queen
surrender under threat of war with the U.S."

This year, the commemoration of the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom
will take place on Sunday, Jan. 14, beginning at `Iolani Palace and
continuing to Queen Lili`uokalani's statue at the State Capitol. All
are invited to offer ho`okupu at the Palace near the Queen's bedroom
at 3:30 pm. A short walk will follow to the Queen's statue for the
rest of the program at 4 pm. It is the intention of the Living
Nation to forever tell this story.

The event will feature music by Pekelo, from Maui, who has written a
song about the Queen, speakers, a reading of Grover Cleveland's
speech before Congress following the overthrow in 1893, and a
re-enactment of the drama "Ka Lei Maile Alii-The Queen's Women",
depicting a meeting of the women of Hui Aloha Aina who were
responsible for gathering many of the signatures on the Great
Petitions (Ku`e Petitions) protesting annexation of Hawaii to the
United States.

Participants are asked to bring folding chairs or mats to sit on and
refreshments to share. For more information, call 284-3460 or
284-8722.

For more information about this important event, visit
I’m new here... attempting to introduce myself - not very good at this.
Today I was looking for a thread in another tribe (couldn’t remember which one) for something I read about Ho’ oponopono the other day. I’ve been thinking about it a lot since and I tried to use it on my jealousy the other day. Or rather - i tried to use it for both mine and my boyfriends jealousy at the same time. So today, when I searched i found this tribe instead - a wier source than the other thread. i don’t know much about the philosophy behind it yet.
And. I had not read about anything related to forgiveness today, when i continued my painting Ho’ oponopono project - I’ll post a picture - My thoughts wandered. I had spoken to an old lover of mine today, its three years ago we were together, and a truth about him entered my mind as i were painting. I have been bitter and angry with him for three years - and just like that while i paint- all bitterness gone. I don’t want to forget because it teaches me something about the human mind. But you can say that you forgive somone, however you need to accept, mend and understand before you’re there.
Most people I know would say it was a coinsidence that it happened while i was writing "I love you I’m sorry" a hundred times. But I like to believe that healing is the way. I already do Reiki. I’m curious :D

I'm going to start adding the basic components of Ho'oponopono to this thread. I won't be giving away anything I shouldn't be (see the "honest predicament" thread), since what I am going to put here is readily found in and pieced together through several books. I was also given an old document regarding Ho'oponopono, written by Morrnah Simeona, prior to the time I took my first workshop with Ramsay. A hula sister from my old halau (Kaiaulu) gave it to me, without warning. A friend had given it to her years before. I feel I can share a few things from that document as it came to me unbidden and from "unofficial" channels.

Why? Because the world is in dire straits and we all need to connect with ways to forgive and move onward. Entire communities and countries are in enormous tragic conflict because things like Ho'oponopono and Tarpana (see the other thread) are not well known.

The interest in this topic is growing. Our tribe membership is growing. I feel you all want some concrete information. So check with this thread as I add to "the basics" every day or so.

Aloha kakou,
I want to share something with all of you that is something of a predicament for me, and something which I've had to put into my ho'oponopono process. It's this:

My inner guidance says very strongly, teach this. Share this. Incorporate it into my work and everything I do. My inner guidance has said this to me all along, since my first contact with the process in 2001. I am pretty sure my ego doesn't need the gratification of this work, it simply seems to be part of the responsibility I've been given, as someone propelled (somewhat unwillingly) onto a teaching, healing path.

However, my Kumu, Ramsay, has not given me permission to teach. He learned very strictly from his Kumu, Morrnah Simeona. This is the Hawaiian way. He has given me permission to share it, however, which is a little different. And it's very hard to get ahold of him to talk about this in depth. He's so busy!

I am struggling right now with the pono-ness of how I share this, where does the line between "sharing" and "teaching" begin and end? I am also quite certain I am meant to share this process specifically while applying it to sexual healing educational situations.

So there is the tension here between respecting the traditional Hawaiian way, of getting permission to teach (particularly as I am not Hawaiian and thus should go overboard in respecting tradition) vs the inner guidance which says, "you must do it." I do not want to be or act as an outside usurper of a traditional ritual (or in this case, a modified and modernized traditional ritual). I do not want to behave as someone who feels generally "entitled" to conduct cultural pillage, cutting and pasting traditions. However, in the ancient Shamanic traditions, women were typically "self initiates" while men were most often embedded in a teaching lineage and a stricter adherance to it. I have gone through a lengthy and hair-raising "initiation" -- essentially "walking between worlds" -- caused by a spontaneous kundalini uprising which lasted ten months. Ho'oponopono was what I used to get through it in one piece. There is a huge, huge story behind all this, and it is wrapped up in how I have received this tradition. So there is that tension too -- between the female way and the male way.

I am putting this out to the group for your mana'o and your comments, of whatever kind.
Mahalo!!!!

I have been trying to find ways about how to take "responsibility" for my life in a way that works for me. Sometimes, I had no clue how to take responsibility or how make the concept of "taking responsibility" even work practically for me. it just felt like a concept, something intellectual and not something I could feel within my being and therefore be able to "release." I came across the "Law of Seed and Tree," again, and I think will help me to create a shift in this regard. I think it has something in common with ho'oponopono. I never had an authentic ho'oponopono session and don't really know how it would feel. I could imagine it and that helps already, for the most part.

In ayurveda there is a law which is known as "Bija Vrksha Nyaya”, the" Law of Seed and Tree.” The seeds are our genes and chromosomes from the essence of our parents. So, no matter how far we distance ourselves at times from our roots (sometimes the roots of dysfunctions), on space and interaction, our genes are still identical. It is said that the emotions of the parents resonate with our emotions, no matter how far and distant we are from them. Because our parents’ genes come from our grandparents, our emotions will be influenced by their emotions as well going back at least seven generations. Even after our ancestors passed away, their psychological make-up resonates with ours.

Ayurveda talks further about inherited weaknesses which are called,"Kutumba Dosha" (faults of the family). Ayurveda rejuvenation therapy works to deal with the physical manifestations and Tarpana works through the reduction of emotional charges that have accumulated in us as a result of our ancestors activities.

Tarpana is actually a complicated ritual which is supposed to help us to change our emotional climate. In a simplified version we can make it work for us in the West. For instance, you may visit the bank of a river, sea or ocean, or focus South. Start to visualize your dead ancestors, one by one, as far as you can go back, even the aborted ones, even the ones you think have been aborted and you don’t know about (brothers and sisters who have been forgotten souls but who you sense are there in spirit...). Make them all sit in front of you in a circle. Tell them that you want to help them to release them from residual earthly emotions, pains, and desires. Offer them a spoonful of water, milk, sesame seeds (the black variety). Offer them a special prepared sweet (the apple strudel of grandma, for instance). Once you have addressed all of your ancestors, feed them. At the end, tell them to go where they came from and be free. Give the left overs to an animal of flowing water to be washed away. The best day to do Tarpana, are the New Moon Day in September, but any day can be good.

You don’t need to believe in reincarnation to perform tarpana. Our ancestors are still alive within us. We can practice tarpana by projecting some part of our personality, contacting it, requesting it to be pleased with you and let go of negative and harmful influences within us. We wish to release unhealthy emotional and psychological habits that way as a result of the influence of the previous beings who shared our genes and make us sick.

This ritual can also include friends and other family members who are not related to us. Simply because somebody left us, or died does not mean they are not any longer part of our system. It’s good to remind some of these beings that they are still loved. If the relation was negative, Tarpana allows us to forgive them by giving up our negativity and offering healing and love. Be grateful to those beings who have given you the genes for life, and forgive those genes, which have limited our existence. It’s good to remember our roots. We all are ancient people.

These are some notes taken from a Seminar about Ayurveda and originate from Dr. Svoboda's book “Prakriti.”

Abraham on Forgiveness - How does this relate to Ho' oponopono?

How does forgiveness of ones self and of others aid in the law of attraction and the law of allowing?

Abraham: In light of what you have been heard us rampage here this morning, we have to say to you that forgiveness doesn't fit in very well with the art of allowing because you have to dig up what you are forgiving. The strange thing about forgiveness … it doesn't have to be this way but it often is … is that when you hear people talking about forgiveness they're usually talking about what they are forgiving: "Oh ya, it's a terrible thing she did to me … (saying mockingly with anger) and I forgive her!" And what happens is anything you give your attention to activates within your vibration.

So if something has hurt you and you're working to forgive it, you are activating it. Forgiveness is almost exactly the same and in fact we would say IS exactly the same as saying, "I'm going to deactivate this thing that hurt me." And we would say the reason it doesn't go very far, and the reason people struggle so hard with the idea of forgiveness is because they keep digging up the stuff they don't want and keeping it active in their vibration so they have a stream of people they have to forgive. They forgave their mother for what she did then kept it alive. Then they had to forgive this lover, and this lover, and this lover and this lover … and every day it is an eternal quest to forgive. And we say, "Why not just let it go and activate something that doesn't need forgiving?"

Any person is like a microcosm of the universe. They have within them things you adore and things you would rather not see. And if you are forgiving some of the stuff you don't want to see you are keeping it active so it becomes a bigger part of the personality that that person is giving to you. But if you ignore that by activating the things you appreciate … ah, that's a whole other thing.

So we would give forgiveness a new definition. We would say the ultimate way of forgiving is really forgetting. And the ultimate way of forgetting really is by remembering something you want to remember.

Ho'oponopono an Interview with Morrnah Simeona and Dr. Stan Hew Len by Deborah King

"We can appeal to Divinity who knows our personal blueprint, for healing of all thoughts and memories that are holding us back at this time," softly shares Morrnah Simeona.

"It is a matter of going beyond traditional means of accessing knowledge about ourselves."

The process that Morrnah refers to is based on the ancient Hawaiian method of stress release and problem solving, called Ho'oponopono. The word Ho'oponopono means to make right, to rectify an error.

Morrnah is a native Hawaiian Kahuna Lapa'au. Kahuna means "keeper of the secret" and Lapa'au means "a specialist in healing."
She was chosen to be a kahuna while still a small child and received her gift of healing at the age of three.
She is the daughter of a member of the court of Queen Liliuokalani, the last sovereign of the Hawaiian Islands.

The process that is now brought forth is a modernization of an ancient spiritual cleansing ritual. It has proven so effective that she has been invited to teach this
method at the United Nations, the World Health Organization and at institutions of healing throughout the world.

How does Ho'oponopono work?

Morrnah explains, "We are the sum total of our experiences, which is to say that we are burdened by our pasts.
When we experience stress or fear in our lives, if we would look carefully, we would find that the cause is actually a memory. It is the emotions which are tied to these memories which affect us now.

The subconscious associates an action or person in the present with something that happened in the past. When this occurs, emotions are activated and stress is produced."

She continues, "The main purpose of this process is to discover the Divinity within oneself. The Ho'oponopono is a profound gift which allows one to develop a working relationship with the Divinity within and learn to ask that in each moment, our errors in thought, word, deed or action be cleansed. The process is essentially about freedom, complete freedom from the past.

“Every memory of every experience, since the first moment of our creation, eons ago, is recorded as a thoughtform which is stored in the etheric realm. This incredible recorder/computer is also known as the subconscious, unihipili or child aspect within us.

The inner child is very real and comprises one part of the Self. The other aspects are the mother, also known as the uhane or rational mind, and the father, the superconscious or Spiritual aspect. The three comprise the inner family, which, in partnership with The Divine Creator, makes up one's Self I-dentity.

Every human being in creation, every plant, atom and molecule has these three selves and yet each blueprint is completely different.

The most important task for people is to find his or her true identity and place in the Universe. This process allows that understanding to become available.

The purpose of Ho'oponopono is to:
1) Connect with the Divinity within on a moment-to-moment basis;
2) To ask that that moment and all it contains, be cleansed.

Only the Divinity can do that. Only the Divinity can erase or correct memories and thoughtforms. Since the Divinity created us, only the Divinity knows what is going on with a person. In this system, there is no need to analyze, solve, manage or cope with problems. Since the Divinity created everything, you can just go directly to Him and ask that it be corrected and cleansed.

In the area of problem solving: the world is a reflection of what is happening inside us. If you are experiencing upset or imbalance, the place to look is inside yourself, not outside at the object you perceive as causing your problem.

Every stress, imbalance or illness can be corrected just by working on yourself.

It is important to mention that this system is fundamentally different from other forms of Ho'oponopono.
In traditional methods, everyone who is involved in a problem needs to be physically present and work it out together. In Morrnah's system everything can be handled by you and the Divinity. You don't need to go one inch outside yourself for answers or help. There is no one who can give you any more relevant information that you can get by going within yourself.

Morrnah especially recommends Ho'oponopono for those in the healing profession: "It is important to clear karmic patterns with your clients before you start working with them, so that you don't activate old stuff between you.
Perhaps you shouldn't be working with that person at all. Only the Divinity knows. If you work with a person and it isn't your business, you can take on the person's entire problem and everything associated with it. This can cause burnout.

The Ho'oponopono give the tools to prevent that from happening." Morrnah wishes for our Western society that everyone would do things to reduce the stress. "Western people have great difficulty in putting the intellect behind. It is difficult for the Western mind to get a grasp of a Higher Being because in traditional Western churches, the Higher Beings are not made evident." She continues, "Western man has gone to the extremes with his intellectualism. It divides and keeps people separate. Man then becomes a destroyer because he manages and copes rather than letting the perpetuating force of the Divinity flow through him for right action."

Morrnah works with her associate, Dr. Stanley Hew Len, who spent several years as a consulting clinical psychologist at the Hawaii State Hospital. He has had profound results by using this process with the most dangerous, violently "mentally ill" criminals in Hawaii. Yet he never talks to them, in fact, he never even sees them. He writes down their name and then just works on himself. He cleanses his judgments, beliefs, attitudes and asks the Divinity what he can do for the person. As those attachments and memories are cleansed, the patient improves. "The Divinity," comments Stan, "says it is time to bring all the children home."

(Freedom of the Cosmos) since 1980 and in Washington State since 1988. Ho'oponopono is an ancient cleansing process which has been updated by Kahuna Lapa'au Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona for use in today's world. It allows us to reclaim our personal inner connection with LOVE, our Divine Source, resulting in PEACE, HARMONY and FREEDOM. We are then in LOVE'S DIVINE FLOW, restored and renewed, free to receive what is PERFECT and RIGHT for each of us moment to moment.
Jeff Soloman Writes: Dear Friends

Without a doubt, the most powerful practioner in recent time of the once secret art of Ho'Oponopono was Morrnah Simeona.

This once secret teaching has been made available in recent times through direct teaching from teacher to teacher. Most notable amongst these modern day teachers is Dr Stanley Hew Len (Haleakela) who was once a student of Moornah,

I got to discussing Ho"Oponopono with Sharda, who was also once a student of Moornah's. Sharda told me of a time when they were meeting to organize a training with Moornah - at a house in the UK. A huge wind came out of nowhere and blew one of the windows in.

Moornah later explained that she did a cleansing of the house and the land. In doing so she sees all past history of the land from prehistoric times to the present. In so doing all wars, deaths and tragedies must be mitigated and cleansed.

She said that in European cities particularly, being so old, one had to go back eons in time to cleanse them.

Indeed when Moornah walked the earth it is said that she continuously saw all the past history of the places that she was in and she cleansed the earth all the time, wherever she was.

With Love,
Sexual Ho'oponopono--some ideas???

Aloha kakou (greetings to all),
I'm on a somewhat strange tangent and want to bounce these ideas around for discussion. This is really all just exploration and questions, so please feel free to make any comments you like. So, with that said, here's the mana'o I'm running with at the moment...

As some people here may know, I'm currently studying Clinical Sexology and Sexological (somatic) Bodywork through the Institute for Advanced Studies of Human Sexuality. Right now we're dealing with the topic of shame, and how it is lodged in the body, and what it does there. A lot of shame, as you might imagine, is sexual in origin, and expresses itself by inhibiting joy and pleasure.

One therapist suggests working with one's "inner child" to free onself from shame. Even so, our instructor in the Sexological Bodywork course, Joseph Kramer (founder of the Body Electric School in Oakland), says that very seldom do we give our "inner children" permission and encouragement to be sexually free and happy. In other words, you can stop at healing the hurt or you can continue with positive encouragement for full expression after the healing.

These days, when I hear the phrase "inner child," I think immediately of the Huna term, "unihipili", for our "basic self" or "child self." The form of Ho'oponopono revised by Morrnah Simeona, my teacher's teacher, made use of this terminology in the Ho'oponopono ritual. And according to this tradition, and other Huna traditions, the "unihipili" or "basic self" or "child self" runs the body, and holds all memories (somatically, in the body). Unihipili is also the direct line to our high self, or "aumakua," which is our conduit to divine energy. Our normal, everyday personality, the "uhane," does not have a direct line to this. So uhane must work closely and lovingly with unihipili to connect with the spiritual realm, because unihipili is the conduit to aumakua.

So I am now feeling that uhane must also work closely and lovingly with unihipili to heal from sexual wounds and from shame, both by dealing with somatic memories and by inviting in the high self and divine energy to help restore the "original blueprint" of the soul--a blueprint free of the imprints of shame. (Sorry, my words are a little clumsy here as I am attempting to also use Morrnah Simeona's concepts, such as the blueprint.)

I am wondering if it would be valuable to create a form of Ho'oponopono or a way of focusing through Ho'oponopono that deals directly and explicitly with sexuality issues. The beauty of Morrnah Simeona's version is that you only write things down on paper that need work, you don't have to discuss them with anyone. That way difficult private issues can stay private.

Anyone have any comments on this so far? What I've just written represents a sort of hybrid thought process. Mahalo for anything you have to add!
HILO COURT RULES COMPREHENSIVE MANAGEMENT PLAN
REQUIRED FOR SUMMIT OF MAUNA KEA

Hilo, Hawai‘i. – In a Memorandum of Decision dated August 3, 2006 and
received by the parties on August 4, 2006, Third Circuit Judge Glenn S. Hara
reversed the conservation district use permit (CDUP) granted by the Board of Land and
Natural Resources (BLNR) to the University of Hawaii Institute of Astronomy (“
UHIFA”) for the construction of up to six 1.8 meter Outrigger Telescopes
around the existing Keck telescopes on the summit of Mauna Kea.. Judge Hara
further held that administrative rules governing astronomy facilities required a
comprehensive management plan for the summit of Mauna Kea.

Mauna Kea Anaina Hou, the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, the Sierra Club,
Hawaii Chapter (Moku Loa Group), and Clarence Ching (“the Appellants”) appealed
the BLNR’s CDUP for the Outrigger Project in November 2004 after lengthy
contested case hearings through 2003-2004 in which Native Hawaiian lineal and
cultural descendants, religious practitioners, and cultural experts such as Pua
Kanaka`ole Kanahele, Kepa Maly, and Mililani B.Trask testified in the Appellants'
favor. The Appellants other supporting witnesses included state and national
environmental and resource management experts such as Fred D. Stone, PhD of
Hilo, Brad Finney PhD of California, and Thomas King PhD of Washington D.C.

On appeal, the Appellants argued that the UHIFA’s CDUP and plan to build four
(4) to six (6) more telescopes was inconsistent with the BLNR rules governing
“astronomy facilities” in a conservation district like Mauna Kea.
Appellants pointed out the “management plan” offered by the UHIFA covered only the
Outrigger project. The “management plan” was not comprehensive, and did not
cover the entire summit of Mauna Kea. The Appellants further claimed without a
comprehensive management plan, the rights and resources of the people of Hawai`i
remained at risk, citing the need for protection against hazardous and sewage
waste contamination, candidate endangered species protection, public access
and use, and the protection of Native Hawaiian traditional and customary rights
and resources. Both BLNR and UHIFA argued that a single project “management
plan” was sufficient to meet the requirements of the BLNR rules.

Judge Hara held that: “The resource that needs to be conserved, protected
and preserved is the summit area of Mauna Kea, not just the area of the Project.
Allowing management plans on a project by project basis would result in
foreseeable contradictory management conditions for each project or the imposition
of special conditions on some projects and not others. The result would be
projects within a management area that did not conform to a comprehensive
management plan, and would not be consistent with the purposes of appropriate
management and promoting long term sustainability of the protected resource
espoused by HRS Section 183C-2 [statute governing conservation districts].” The
court further held that “BLNR failed to adhere to the provisions of HAR Chapter
13-5-24 [rules governing astronomy facilities] and appellants substantial rights
have been prejudiced by the Board’s approval of UHIFA’s application for the
Conservation district use permit and for approval of a management plan.

The Outrigger project has faced several setbacks. In 2003, a federal
district court judge held that NASA’s environmental assessment for the project was
inadequate. Thereafter, NASA completed a more detailed environmental impact
statement. In the EIS, NASA concluded that the cumulative impact of thirty years
of astronomy development has had a significant, adverse, and substantial
impact on the natural and cultural resources of Mauna Kea. In 2004, the
Appellants appealed the CDUP granted to UHIFA. In early 2006, NASA announced plans to
withdraw funding for the Outrigger project.

Kealoha Pisciotta, President of Mauna Kea Anaina Hou, commented: “I am
thankful, I can only say Mahalo Ke Akua....this decision is a win for the people,
the land and those things that are sacred..., I would like to thank Judge Hara
for his thorough review of this complex case; I'm sure his job was not easy. I
am thankful for all the hundreds of people who, for all these years, attended
meeting after meeting for Mauna Kea. I am thankful for the film team Na Maka o
Ka `Aina--for their PBS film, Mauna Kea:. I am thankful for our brave lawyers
who took our case when no one else would. I am thankful to the many Kupuna
that have passed, such as Uncle Genesis Lee Loy, Aunty Kamakahukilani Von
Oelhoffen and Aunty Leina`ala Apiki McCord, and others, too many to name, for they
give us strength to carry on, and they are here with us always.

Deborah J. Ward, a representative for the Sierra Club, Hawaii Chapter, Moku
Loa Group, said:
“The Hawaii court of law has finally reinforced what the people of Hawaii
have been saying about their love for Mauna Kea. Sierra Club is very gratified
that the judge affirms the need for comprehensive planning for its protection.
The club supports the development of a comprehensive management plan that is
community based, incorporating multiple uses. It is time for the Department of
Land and Natural Resources and the University of Hawaii to join community
members in a cooperative spirit to build a plan that reflects the needs and uses of
a broad spectrum of Hawaii’s people.

It is clear that Mauna Kea is treasured by the people of Hawaii as a sacred
place, as a wild landscape and as a natural habitat for unique organisms. Mauna
Kea is beloved by people of the world as a special place to renew the mind
and spirit, gain inspiration, and occasionally to recreate. The mountain, from
sea to summit, must be managed to protect and restore the natural and cultural
resources for generations to come. It is time the people of Hawaii and
agencies with responsibilities for land management begin to develop a common vision
for protection of the ‘ahupua’a of Mauna Kea. “

Clarence Ching: “I'm ecstatic, Mahalo Ke Akua...This is a precedent setting
case; it will help not only Mauna Kea but Haleakala as well, since Haleakala is
also slated for more astronomy development.”

Ali`i `Aimoku, Paul K. Neves of the The Royal Order of Kamehameha I: "We
are grateful for the opportunity to serve the Poe Hawai`i (the people of
Hawai'i). From the beginning we affirmed that the jurisdiction in Hawai`i rests with
the right-holders not stakeholders, meaning Hawaiian Kingdom and its peoples,
not the University of Hawai`i. We will continue to be involved in working with
the people of Hawai`i towards lasting protection and oversight of Mauna Kea
that the people can be proud of. We thank the people from all islands and the
world for their prayers and support. We say deeply, Mahaho Ke Akua, Na Akua, Na
Aumakua."

Lea Hong, one of the pro bono lawyers for the Appellants (along with William
Tam and Dexter Kaiama), stated: “The plain language of the BLNR rules is
clear. Comprehensive means comprehensive. It does not mean piecemeal. It does
not mean project-by -project. I hope that BLNR will take Judge Hara’s decision
to heart and work with the community to protect the precious resource that is
Mauna Kea and develop a long term comprehensive management plan for the
summit of Mauna Kea that can be a model for other special places in Hawai`i and the
nation.”

Dear Karen,
This is a phenomenal story that I am forwarding
to everyone on my
mailing list. I see it as a direct link to the
Ascension Process which
in my view is the whole purpose for the
embodiment of humanity on Earth,
the process of continually letting there be more
light. In Gratitude for
all that is, especially our negativities, knowing
them to be reminders
of our purpose in being responsible for letting
them all be creatively
transformed by means of blending with the Light
of Love that we each one
ARE. Paul

Karen wrote:

HO'OPONOPONO
by Joe Vitale

"Two years ago, I heard about a therapist in
Hawaii who cured a
complete ward of criminally insane
patients--without ever seeing any
of them. The psychologist would study an inmate's
chart and then look
within himself to see how he created that
person's illness. As he
improved himself, the patient improved.

"When I first heard this story, I thought it was
an urban legend. How
could anyone heal anyone else by healing himself?
How could even the
best self-improvement master cure the criminally
insane? It didn't
make any sense. It wasn't logical, so I dismissed
the story.

"However, I heard it again a year later. I heard
that the therapist
had used a Hawaiian healing process called ho
'oponopono. I had never
heard of it, yet I couldn't let it leave my mind.
If the story was at
all true, I had to know more. I had always
understood "total
responsibility" to mean that I am responsible for
what I think and do.
Beyond that, it's out of my hands. I think that
most people think of total
responsibility that way. We're responsible for
what we do, not what
anyone else does--but that's wrong.

"The Hawaiian therapist who healed those mentally
ill people would
teach me an advanced new perspective about total
responsibility. His
name is Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len. We probably spent
an hour talking on
our first phone call. I asked him to tell me the
complete story of his
work as a therapist.

He explained that he worked at Hawaii State
Hospital for four years.

That ward where they kept the criminally insane
was dangerous.

Psychologists quit on a monthly basis. The staff
called in sick a lot
or simply quit. People would walk through that
ward with their backs
against the wall, afraid of being attacked by
patients. It was not a
pleasant place to live, work, or visit.

"Dr. Len told me that he never saw patients. He
agreed to have an
office and to review their files. While he looked
at those files, he
would work on himself. As he worked on himself,
patients began to heal.

"'After a few months, patients that had to be
shackled were being
allowed to walk freely,' he told me. 'Others who
had to be heavily
medicated were getting off their medications. And
those who had no
chance of ever being released were being freed.'
I was in awe.'Not
only that,' he went on, 'but the staff began to
enjoy coming to work.

Absenteeism and turnover disappeared. We ended up
with more staff than
we needed because patients were being released,
and all the staff was
showing up to work. Today, that ward is closed.'

"This is where I had to ask the million dollar
question: 'What were
you doing within yourself that caused those
people to change?'

"'I was simply healing the part of me that
created them,' he said. I
didn't understand. Dr. Len explained that total
responsibility for
your life means that everything in your life-
simply because it is in
your life--is your responsibility. In a literal
sense the entire world
is your creation.

"Whew. This is tough to swallow. Being
responsible for what I say or
do is one thing. Being responsible for what
everyone in my life says
or does is quite another. Yet, the truth is this:
if you take complete
responsibility for your life, then everything you
see, hear, taste,
touch, or in any way experience is your
responsibility because it is
in your life. This means that terrorist activity,
the president, the
economy or anything you experience and don't
like--is up for you to
heal. They don't exist, in a manner of speaking,
except as projections
from inside you. The problem isn't with them,
it's with you, and to
change them, you have to change you.

"I know this is tough to grasp, let alone accept
or actually live.
Blame is far easier than total responsibility,
but as I spoke with Dr.
Len, I began to realize that healing for him and
in ho 'oponopono
means loving yourself.

"If you want to improve your life, you have to
heal your life. If you
want to cure anyone, even a mentally ill criminal
you do it by healing
you.

"I asked Dr. Len how he went about healing
himself. What was he doing,
exactly, when he looked at those patients' files?

"'I just kept saying, 'I'm sorry' and 'I love
you' over and over again,'
he explained.

"That's it?

"That's it.

"Turns out that loving yourself is the greatest
way to improve
yourself, and as you improve yourself, you
improve your world.

"Let me give you a quick example of how this
works: one day, someone
sent me an email that upset me. In the past I
would have handled it by
working on my emotional hot buttons or by trying
to reason with the
person who sent the nasty message.

"This time, I decided to try Dr. Len's method. I
kept silently saying,
'I'm sorry' and 'I love you,' I didn't say it to
anyone in particular.
I was simply evoking the spirit of love to heal
within me what was
creating the outer circumstance.

"Within an hour I got an e-mail from the same
person. He apologized
for his previous message. Keep in mind that I
didn't take any outward
action to get that apology. I didn't even write
him back. Yet, by
saying 'I love you,' I somehow healed within me
what was creating him.

"I later attended a ho 'oponopono workshop run by
Dr. Len. He's now 70
years old, considered a grandfatherly shaman, and
is somewhat reclusive.

He praised my book, The Attractor Factor. He told
me that as I improve
myself, my book's vibration will raise, and
everyone will feel it when
they read it. In short, as I improve, my readers
will improve.

"'What about the books that are already sold and
out there?' I asked.

"'They aren't out there,' he explained, once
again blowing my mind
with his mystic wisdom. 'They are still in you.'
In short, there is no
out there. It would take a whole book to explain
this advanced
technique with the depth it deserves.

"Suffice It to say that whenever you want to
improve anything in your
life, there's only one place to look: inside you.
When you look, do it
with love."

This is from Noelani, who is leading many of the West Coast efforts on behalf of Kamehameha Schools. While I do not share her particular faith (Christian), I respect her greatly and I know her heart is so loving and dedicated. I encourage all who wish to join in preserving this important educational institution to pray in solidarity with the native Hawaiians on June 20th.
