Immortal Egypt: Phil Thornton / Hossam Ramzy
Whew! What a great record. I've had this album for years, and was listening to it the last couple of days after not hearing it for a very long time.
These guys, and all of the other mucho/talented musicians performing on this record make this a spectacular listening experience. I'd fotgotten that Chalf Hassan played Oud on one of the tracks, this great Moroccan piece. Vocalist Mohamed Abo El Khair, has an outstanding performance as well.
Hossam's percussion is always on FIRE, with plenty of outstanding arrangements and killer riffs, he's amazing as always. His tones and phrases are always to die for!
I need to get the "Enchanted Egypt" that he and Phil did, does anyone know if a 3rd album was ever recorded by Phil and Hossam? I'd love to know.

Sat, June 3, 2006 - 7:17 AMYeah, there's just so much good stuff on that record, I love the guitar and keyboard sounds as counterpart to all of that beautiful percussion.
It's one of the best examples of "World-fusion" music I can think of.
I'm glad you like it too!
