Hey group,
A couple of weeks ago I got a copy of Eternal Egypt, the album that preceded the "Immortal Egypt" that Phil and Hossam did together.
I've loved Immortal Egypt for years, and I like this record much better than Eternal Egypt.
Hossam's percussion is exquisite and strong as always (of course, he's Hossam!!) but some of Phil's guitar and synth work seems like it's not much there, the ideas don't seem to take off like they do on the follow-up record. I'm still happy I bought the record because there's still lots to hear in terms of "sound" space, and texture in the music, as well as good examples of long, meditative musical ideas.
I'm curious to know what the rest of you think in the comparison of these two discs?
