We need to be specific

Just saying that the new tribe is ugly isn't going to do it. We need to be specific about our complaints. For example, before all my tribes were on the homepage. Therefore, I could easily chose which one I wanted to look at. Now, I only get a snippet of tribes at the top. I have to go one click deep to see all of my tribes. For people with more than 10 tribes, that is an extra step.

We need to create a list of specific complaints, like the one above, and then start posting that. Who else has a specific usability issue?

It's too hard to see which messages are new. The little red * does NOT stand out like the highlighted yellow unread messages used to be. It was easy to see the ones you had not read yet - now you have to search for a small red dot in an expanse of whiteness.

I agree with you Yvette and this, too, is my biggest complaint... FYI (because I know they'll hit you with this as a resolution) you can hit VIEW ALL #### TRIBES to see all your Tribes on a full page.. Then you just click and view like you used, too... The downside is that all you get to see for Friends Blogs, Events, Photos, et cetera is the "frame" on the left... Which sux...

My personal recommendations on other things are as follows:
Make "my profile" button larger, along with the envelope notifying me of my messages.
"Un-Merge" the events, photos, listings, etc. on the forum itself... I'm missing out on alot of art and events (especially because my personal Tribe is an "event" Tribe) due to the fact that I have it filtered so that I can simply read posts...

The worst part for me is that the threads used to be so much more manageable. I often could care less who is looking for a place to live when I am reading about what music is coming into town- and the news related. It is way too messy to have it all combined in one location. I would love to hear the reasoning behind the change. Could there possibly be a good explanation?

All the graphics we see are generic ones other than the tiny user icon in the upper right corner. I miss how my old homepage had the grid of friend pictures and blog pic previews etc.

OMFG!!!!... For the love of the heavens, this is what I've been trying to get out but couldn't figure it out!!!!

The old site was more like a grid... Very linear... Easy to get to and mapped out... You could easily point, click, view, click, return in a orderly fashion... Now you have to take twice as many steps and much of what you're trying to get to is hidden or locked in some kind of sequence of clicking...

Rather than it being mapped out, we have to go through a series of puzzles to get to our destination... Which takes more time and often gets us lost!!!... Add to the "unfriendly" feel of the new layout... It's like being lost in a big city and your only way of self-orientation is with pictures you've seen on TV!!!!

Another thing that sucks... When you read a listing, there is no longer a way to forward the posting on to a friend that may be interested in what it has to say.

I thought this tribe thing was about connecting community.

you can still do that, just look on the lefthand menu next to the listing

              I agree with Sara...

It's too crazy how "listings" "postings" "new photo postings" "events" etc have all been collapsed into one pile. Back when it was separate, one could easily focus on listings only, or message/discussion posts only.

Instead of improving the forum, it was made less organized and more chaotic.

It used to be sorted into managable categories and now it's just a jumbled mess.

            My main complaints:

            1. Red * is not noticeable enough for new messages. Small envelope icon at top right does not stay there until I have read the new message, it disappears after a while even if the message remains unread. It is possible to have new messages and I don't know it until I return to my homepage and ACTUALLY LOOK FOR THE RED *.

            2. I must choose between seeing all my tribes listed on one page or seeing which of my friends are on-line. I would like to see both on the same page. (There are other things I would like to see on my homepage with these two things, but these are the most important to me.)

            3. They have removed the photos from most pages. Its all white space and glaring red. Before you saw more photos on the main tribe pages, you saw your own and your friends' avatars on your homepage, etc. Now there hardly any photos on any of the pages unless you specifically go to a photo album or profile. It has made the site seem very impersonal.

            Just my top three.

              Those are three great points.

I have to admit, I like the fact that they collapsed all the listings, topics and events together. It makes it so that I don't miss anything.

The design for 'my homepage' is terrible. I hate that I can't see all the things I used to see in the old layout. I just wish they would have one view that is the old homepage. Even Windows has a classic mode for those of us that don't like change.

I thought it was funny when they showed people you had stuff in common with ( really i would laugh sometimes) I HATE WHITE BACKGROUND it hurts my eyes and makes it feel more sterile and less friendly........That actually bugs me more than anything else ..
