It's already 3 weeks into the new year and I am busy getting ready for Gothla! Whoo hoo!

It doesn't help that my hard drive crashed before Christmas, so I have to take new pictures of EVERYTHING. But the good thing to come out of this is that I just need to download all the photos I have in Photobucket and upload them here onto Tribe. So, all is not lost!

So, expect 2008 design pictures to be posted soon! And then all the new stuff I'm making for 2009! Whoo hoo!

Purple Velvet Enchantment

I'm not a purple girl, but the inner goth is screaming "OMG, this is so awesome!!!" I think it has to do with the fact that I oxidized the silver to a nice gunmetal black, then started burnishing it off with .0000 steel wool to bring out some of the shiny silver underneath. It looks so much better in person... and it's a great pattern I plan to repeat once I get my "real" work done and off my lazy @$$. Whoo!

August Challenge - An Item Per Day

My bead forum started a July challenge for making one item per day. It's a real challenge, but I think it will help me with my creativity, even when I'm tired and not in the mood to make anything. Imagine how big the stash of earrings will get. =) I will post whenever I get a chance, but will probably make it every other day or so.

I've decided that the month of September will be dedicated for reflection and meditation. Figure out where I've been and where I'm going with all of this. And to figure out some new pendant designs.

Herkimer Diamonds

According to my Wiccan friend, there is no stronger stone than a Herkimer Diamond. We met up for dessert tonight and the second she put on the necklace, she got an instant buzz without a single sip of alcohol. By the time we were finished with our cheesecake and drinks, she had to take off her necklace because it was too strong and she needed to be clear headed before I let her drive home.

So for those of you who understand metaphysics and crave particular energy from stones, I still have a gorgeous strand of Herkimer Diamonds left if you would like any jewelry made out of them. =)

The secret stash has been delivered and I can start working on all the things I wanted to do before I found out about the secret stash. =D Now the question is what to start on... the gorgeous collar, the Wonder Woman bracelet cuff, or the dainty lariat? Hmm... I have some custom orders to finish but one I can easily finish in a few hours and the other I'm waiting on rings. Ooo... possibilities. I'll finish the first order and it should help get the juices flowing again... if I can get enough sleep.

Rollin' Around in the Tumbler

I have 3 freshly finished and freshly oxidized necklaces rolling around in the tumbler right now. I can't wait to see how they come out. 2 very darkly oxidized to go with my gothic influence, and one a little bit oxidized to keep the presence of the silver. Yay! These are being prepped for Sunday's big debut... of course, I will have pictures before I send them off. Whoo hoo!

The Story Behind the Name

My father and I have the same name... Chinese people can do that. So, the majority of my family calls me "Hui Hui" and my father "Choon Hui", but it's still confusing and on occasion I will respond to my mother when she is calling for Dad. But think about it... the name "Hui Hui Designs" is unique and it doesn't limit me to strictly jewelry. When I came up with it a few years ago, it was a great idea. Now the idea is starting to grow into a reality... at least here on Tribe. ;-)
