Hoopgirl on Thurs and have hurt back (dancing, not hooping, I think). it's been sore all week - like sciatica in one side but pain isn't going down my leg, just bottom of back & hip on left. Aaaarghh!!!
Fingers crossed - am resting it as much as possible. Bah.

Re: no no no no....
Sat, April 11, 2009 - 11:17 AMAmanda! Take care of yourself this week. Hot baths, gentle stretches, some walking and slow waist hooping with a nice big hoop. The first day is mainly classroom so you have until Friday to recover. That's doable.
Just don't go trying anything new! -

Re: no no no no....
Sat, April 11, 2009 - 11:20 AMI haven't even been hooping - head has been full of Egyptian style dancing since last weekend. Was going to use these 4 days to practise. Sigh. Back in the bath.....

Re: no no no no....
Sat, April 11, 2009 - 3:00 PMYes, I did. Did not expect that at all - so organised and efficient and made me feel 'special' - not just another student! Have no doubt that the actual experience will be every bit as enjoyable. :o)

Re: no no no no....
Sun, April 12, 2009 - 3:39 PMSorry to hear about your poorly back! I can sympathise, I hurt my back begining of last week, was I doing anything interesting like dancing when I hurt it? No! Just shooing my woofums off of the sofa! I had a show and classes to teach so I was mighty relieved that it was the final classes and I could hoop jam and take more of a back seat, performance went surprisingly! A little dose of Dr Theatre! Actually the hoop was very gentle on me (20mm very large hoop!) although I don't recommend overuse if you can rest, I had committments and had been paid for the classes and as money is tight I had to do it! I did see an osteo, dose up with pain killers, hot wheat bags on my back, stretches, hot baths and alexander technique! Back is well on the way to being happier and I'm truly wishing yours is too! You've had some great advice so enjoy the rest and recuperation. Go to your doctor and request some physio, especially if this is the first time you have hurt you back, sometimes if the injury is fresh it maybe a little easier to resolve! Looking forward to meeting and learning with you on HG training! :o) -

Re: no no no no....
Mon, April 13, 2009 - 12:59 PMAww no! Rest up and look after yourself... take it easy with the heat - if there's any inflammation, the heat will make it (and the pain) worse... if in doubt, alternate hot and cold packs to help ease the muscles. If you're still not feeling right by Thurs, I don't mind doing some healing on you, if you'd like? Just give me a shout x
