                                        first some background:
                                        I was in Utah for a month, working...
                                        right across the street from my hotel
                                        is a Walgreen's...open 24/7...
                                        one of the many times I was in there
                                        (having for a while been carrying
                                        Chapel Perilous along with me,
                                        {some of its more disturbed denizens
                                        keep trying to demoralize me, to no avail})
                                        I was walking down an aisle and saw a father with
                                        his two daughters, the youngest one, about 3,
                                        was leading them, and said, at least 2 or 3 times,
                                        while I was within hearing distance,
                                        "Stay on the middle path..."
                                        She coulda been talking about something
                                        different than what immediately leapt to my mind,
                                        but then the floor wasn't duochromatically tiled,
                                        or patterned really, in any observable way...
                                        Plus, she was THREE!!! What three year old says

                                                                the harpies really go for sugar, lots of sugar, fast food and cheap wine. you can keep them at bay by stocking up on these items and feeding them while you escape. the muses seem to be infiinitely more fussy in their culinary tastes and i can make no valid suggestions there except maybe to start with aged cognac, st. agur cheese, sinfully dark belgian chocolate and a life lived to its fullest.
