In the beginning, there were the gods.
It is in their service that we build the Net, the Web, and the new art forms that manipulate time and space the way our ancestors manipulated stone and pigment. Our communal rites will combine mind, spirit, energy, and technology to break down the barriers between performer and audience, artist and viewer, priest and celebrant, mind and body, self and other. Our glory will be illuminated and reflected in a hundred million mirrors as we look around the world and see each other - really see each other - for the first time. And, as these billions of flashes of the divine spark begin to shimmer all around us, setting this electronic Matrix alight with wonder, we will begin to reckon with the transformative truth...

The condition, the researchers say, shouldn't be thought of as a disease to be eradicated. The autistic brain may not be defective, but simply different -- an example of the variety of human development. They've found that previous measures of autistic intelligence were severely flawed, that autistic brains are highly efficient in some tasks -- even superior in some intelligence tests.

"Why"
Sun, December 23, 2007 - 2:10 AMBecause it makes me cum;
because I'm sick;
because there was so much sickness;
because I say FUCK THE SICKNESS;
because I like the attention;
because I was alone a lot;
because I was different;
because kids beat me up on the way to school;
because I was humiliated by nuns;
because of Christ and the Crucifixion;
because of Porky Pig in bondage, force-fed by some sinister creep in a black cape;
because of stories and children hung by their wrists, burned on the stove, scalded in tubs;
because of Mutiny on the Bounty;
because of cowboys and Indians;
because of Houdini;
because of my cousin Cliff;
because of the forts we built and the things we did inside them;
because of what's inside me;
because of my genes;
because of my parents;
because of doctors and nurses;
because they tied me to the crib so I wouldn't hurt myself;
because I have time to think;
because I have time to hold my penis;
because I had awful stomachaches and holding my penis made it feel better;
because I felt like I was going to die;
because it makes me feel invincible;
because it makes me feel triumphant;
because I'm a Catholic;
because I still love Lent, and I still love my penis, and in spite of it all I have no guilt;
because my parents said BE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE, and this is what I want to be;
because I'm nothing but a big baby and I want to stay that way, and I want a mommy forever, even a mean one, especially a mean one;
because of all the fairy tale witches, and the wicked stepmother, and the stepsisters, and how sexy Cinderella was, smudged with soot, doomed to a life of servitude;
because of Hansel, locked in the witch's cage until he was fat enough to eat;
because of "O" and how desperately I wanted to be her;
because of my dreams;
because of the games we played;
because I've got an active imagination;
because my mother bought me Tinker Toys;
because hardware stores give me hard-ons;
because of hammers, nails, clothespins, wood, padlocks, pullies, eyebolts, thumbtacks, staple-guns, sewing needles, wooden spoons, fishing tackle, chains, metal rulers, rubber tubing, spatulas, rope, twine, C-clamps, S-hooks, razor blades, scissors, tweezers, knives, pushpins, two-by-fours, Ping-Pong paddles, alligator clips, duct tape, broomsticks, barbecue skewers, bungie cords, sawhorses, soldering irons;
because of tool sheds;
because of garages;
because of basements;
because of dungeons;
because of The Pit and the Pendulum;
because of the Tower of London;
because of the Inquisition;
because of the rack;
because of the cross;
because of the Addams Family playroom;
because of Morticia Addams and her black dress with its octopus legs;
because of motherhood;
because of Amazon;
because of the Goddess;
because of the moon;
because it's in my nature;
because it's against nature;
because it's nasty;
because it's fun;
because it flies in the face of all that's normal (whatever that is);
because I'm not normal;
because I used to think that I was part of some vast experiment and that there was this implant in my penis that made me do these things and that allowed THEM (whoever THEY were) to monitor my activities;
because I had to take my clothes off and lie inside this giant plastic bag so the doctors could collect my sweat;
because once upon a time I had such a high fever that my parents had to strip me naked and wrap me in wet sheets to stop the convulsions;
because my parents loved me even more when I was suffering;
because I was born into a world of suffering;
because surrender is sweet;
because I'm attracted to it;
because I'm addicted to it;
because endorphins in the brain are like a natural kind of heroin;
because I learned to take my medicine;
because I was a big boy for taking it;
because I can take it like a man;
because, as somebody once said, HE'S GOT MORE BALLS THAN I DO;
because it is an act of courage;
because it does take guts;
because I'm proud of it;
because I can't climb mountains;
because I'm terrible at sports;
because NO PAIN, NO GAIN;
because SPARE THE ROD AND SPOIL THE CHILD;
because YOU ALWAYS HURT THE ONE YOU LOVE.

"The Invisible Forest"
Sat, December 29, 2007 - 1:31 AMI just completed "The Invisible Forest", my new film that explores the ideas and visions of French Surrealist actor/playwright, Antonin Artaud, a mighty high pope of Chapel Perilous.
check out the trailer:
www.fractalvideo.com/HTML/IFFV2.html
the movie site:
www.verticalpool.com/if.html
I am in the process of setting up screenings in Seattle, Portland, SF and LA over the next six months. -
-
Re: "The Invisible Forest"
Sat, December 29, 2007 - 10:11 AMAhh the trailer certainly leaves me asking questions, wanting more...
Bring it to Nevada City, Please! I could probably attend a screening in the bay area, but I'd love to see the film hit my side of the state...I know you know we have a great theater community here.
I'm always looking at patterns, and can't help but notice that the subject of your latest work is also an A.A. My Dad wanted to name me Allison, and that is my surname as well...I am looking forward to a glimpse of the world of Antero Alli via film.
. -
-
Re: "The Invisible Forest"
Sat, December 29, 2007 - 3:10 PMif you can get it to LA /palm springs area by April I'll see the screening my cousin gets married then? I think it's cool that your narrating it and have a strong role as well, the music sounded very interesting....all the strings! wow...sounded like a quartet? was that a real string section in the sound recording? I believe that was your wife singing. If so you got a real army there. -
-
Re: "The Invisible Forest"
Sat, December 29, 2007 - 3:33 PMthanks robert. though there is an actual string quartet in the film, what you hear in this trailer is electronically simulated strings. the song you hear is my wife sylvi and two other singers performing an old english folk song amd yes, we did gather a real army to stage this feature poetry film
-
Re: "The Invisible Forest"
Sat, December 29, 2007 - 3:49 PMI'm interested in that quote from the "Done" seen........something like..." I fell into the void which made this world and achieved its goal to make me suffer....." Is this a quote from Antonin Artaud? Also is that trailer edited does that scene continue to the table scene with the song or is that an edit point for the trailer? Just wondering? This seems like a very good movie. Maybe I should buy it on your site. I live on the East Coast and I wonder if it will ever show on a large screen out here. I have a big T.V. and sound anyway so let us know when we can order it? -
-
Re: "The Invisible Forest"
Sat, December 29, 2007 - 3:56 PMThe quote you refer to is by Artaud from his "New Revelations of Being". The trailer is a total non-linear mix of this heavily image-laden film that flows more like a dream than a conventional plot. The scene with the table game does not appear in this trailer but for those interested in seeing that, here is the link. This is not a trailer but a 4 minute excerpt from the film itself.

The man with beautiful eyes
Wed, January 30, 2008 - 11:28 PMBukowski
www.youtube.com/watch
The Man With The Beautiful Eyes
When we were kids
there was a strange house
all the shades were
always
drawn
and we never heard voices
in there
and the yard was full of
bamboo
and we liked to play in
the bamboo
pretend we were
Tarzan
( although there was no
Jane)
and there was a
fish pond
a large one
full of the
fattest goldfish
you ever saw
and they were
tame.
They came to the
surface of the water
and took pieces of
bread
from our hands.
Our parents had
told us:
" never go near that
house"
so, of course,
we went.
We wondered if anybody
lived there.
Weeks went by and we
never saw
anybody.
Then one day
we heard
a voice
from the house
" YOU GOD DAMNED
WHORE!"
It was a mans
voice.
Then the screen
door
of the house was
flung open
and the man
walked out.
He was holding a
fifth of whiskey
in his right
hand.
He was about
30.
He had a cigar
in his
mouth,
needed a
shave.
His hair was
wild and
uncombed
and he was
barefoot.
In undershirt
and pants
but his eyes
were
bright
they BLAZED
with brightness
and he said,
"hey, little
gentleman,
having a good
time, I
hope?"
Then he gave a
little laugh
and walked
back into the
house.
We left,
went back to my
parents yard
and thought
about it.
Our parents,
we decided
had wanted us
to stay away
from there
because they
never wanted us
to see a man
like
that,
a strong natural
man
with
beautiful
eyes.
Our parents
were ashamed
that they were
not
like that
man,
thats why they
wanted us to stay
away.
But
we went back
to that house
and the bamboo
and the tame
goldfish.
We went back
many times
for many
weeks
but we never
saw
or heard
the man
again.
The shades were
down
as always
and it was
quiet.
Then one day
as we came back from
school
we saw the
house.
It had burned
down,
there was nothing
left,
just a smoldering
twisted black
foundation
and we went to
the fish pond
and there was
no water
in it
and the fat
orange goldfish
were dead
there,
drying out.
We went back to
my parents yard
and talked about
it
and decided that
our parents had
burned their
house down,
had killed
them
had killed the
goldfish
because it was
all too
beautiful,
even the bamboo
forest had
burned.
They had been
afraid of
the man with the
beautiful
eyes.
And
we were afraid
than
that
all throughout our lives
things like that
would happen,
that nobody
wanted
anybody
to be
strong and
beautiful
like that,
that
others would never
allow it,
and that
many people
would have to
die. -

Re: youtube and the infernal machine
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 1:27 PMWhat do video artists make of YouTube? Every minute, 10 hours of video are uploaded to the video-sharing site, which now shows hundreds of millions of videos each day. The place is a mess. Maybe artists should avoid it altogether.
The curator and Internet-art booster Rachel Greene has come up with another suggestion: artists could use YouTube, like a supply store, slag heap or rag-and-bone shop. To make the point, she recently asked a set of art-world figures — Sue de Beer, Matthew Higgs, Matthew Ronay and Wayne Koestenbaum — to present and project their favorite YouTube videos in Manhattan on May 13 at the Kitchen gallery. According to catalog copy for the show, “Artists Using YouTube,” some of the videos on exhibit provide “indirect fodder” for the artists’ own work.[...]

Re: youtube and the infernal machine
Sun, May 18, 2008 - 10:40 AMAll i get now is high school history projects, and I cant even find the artist I want to see...usually someone with a guitar playing the tune badly. Then 5 Googles over I get what I'm looking for...i guess its...seek and yea shall find....sort of thing ...but I have noticed it getting noisy. -
-
Re: youtube and the infernal machine
Sun, May 18, 2008 - 10:53 AMwell to keep the noise manageable you need a filter whereby the journalist/editor/curator is recreating a guided trip of the territory etc...
manufacturing a cultural hierarchy which might be a service to some and a disservice to others etc...

What is your real zodiacal position of the Sun? Pluto in Coma Berenices (seventies) and Pluto in Bootes (eighties) generations required a modern presentation of the official zodiac of the IAU.
