im in the market (like most people on here for a quality) HG. price has always been an issue so i found a soloution to this. im crafty, good with my hands, and i work with wood daily. lets build one. my question is, does anyone have a copy of any plans they would be willing to share? spent money on what i thought was a good set of plans but they were little more then a side biew and a top view drawing of one, not much help at all. i know it wont be a great one, assuming it even makes noise. but the satisfaction of compleating one and practicing on it makes me giddy. so, anyone care to help?

Re: plans anyone?
Wed, September 3, 2008 - 9:40 PMI don't mean to discourage you, but I'm letting you know the odds you're up against. I've heard lots of hgs made by people in your situation, and they've uniformly been unplayable. I'm not going to say it's impossible, but it must be really, really difficult, to make an instrument before you know how to play it. More important than plans, you should try to get a lesson on a working, well-set-up hg, so you know what you're aiming for.
If you're serious about this, you might want to start on simpler instruments, like guitars, just to get some luthiery practice first.
