How do I choose a business?....There are so many....

When I evaluate a company, I look for these key points. Keep in mind, when I join a company, my #1 goal is to make money and to do it legitimately. I do not want to hurt anyone or rip anyone off. This is what I’ve learned and these guidelines will help you determine what company is right for you.
If you are not making at least 75% of the upfront commission when you make a sale, forget it. This means that you are doing all the work and the company and/or the person above you is making all the money.
If you have to have 1000, 10,000 or 20,000 people in your organization before you make any real money. DO NOT Join. Most people will NEVER get there.
If they teach you to hold home parties and invite all your friends. Run away fast.
If they have a sales pitch 2-3 times a day and only 2-3 training classes per week. This means that the company is more interested in selling you than training you how to make money long term
If you can’t break even or get into profit with 3 sales, forget it.
If you can’t speak with the owners or the corporate office via phone or webinar, Forget it. I like to know who I am doing business with before I will do business with them.
If it is a start up or in pre launch, forget. The chances of these companies becoming the next Amway is about as good as winning the lottery. At least with the lottery, you have a chance to win once or twice a week. You might as well go to Vegas and blow your money on a good time. At least you’ll have some great memories, see a great show and have a great meal.
These are not all the rules for success on the internet, but this is a great guideline to follow when evaluating an internet company. Use these guidelines to help you narrow down your choices for choosing a company that best fits yours goals.

My friend has a wonderful boutique and I thought it would be great if she was able to create her own scents and packaging for candles to sell in her store....so that it would be exclusive to her. Does anyone know how to do that? I tried using a search engine to source candle manufacturers...but it was tough to weed through all that stuff. Don't necessarily want something made in China either. Thanks in advance for any help!

How do I go from product Brainstorm to Manufacture?

I've got loads of brilliant product ideas but am not sure what steps stand between brainstorming and manufacturing a product. Mostly they are products that I can't make myself -- that would require some manufacturing. Having done a little research, I feel like I need to seek out some professional guidance (like a product development firm?) -- but can I go to a firm with just an idea? And how do I know my idea is protected with them? Is it necessary to patent a product before connecting with a firm like this? Is it necessary to have prototypes of products manufactured before patenting?

Anyone know of a good product development firm in the Bay Area?

I have seen an online "patentcafe" for the technology industry, 2xfr.patentcafe.com/how_to_use.asp, which seems like one interesting way to go about licensing an already developed product. Is there a similar online thing for the design industry?

Please let me know of good local resources....

I publish a popular website for the field of nanotechnology. I've been the number 1 site for this field for the last 3-4 years and I'm still not making enough income from it to support myself financially.

I would love to have some ideas for how to make more money from the site. My current income producing methods are: google adwords, banner ads, 2 paid newsletters, a few affiliate products and some consulting work.

The site is http://www.nanotech-now.com

Worldwide Street Fashion Website

I just started a world wide street fashion website and I'm looking for contributors from all over the world. My interpretation of Street Fashion is not just the popular Japanese trend but anything and everything people come up with that is an infusion of creativity, taste and individuality. The photos don't need to be high quality professional.. in fact id prefer they were photos of people walking down the street in their daily clothing being caught off guard or even interviewed with a few questions about their style. Once the site has more content it will be a hub for traveling to these Cities and countries featured with street fashion, including: resources for cheap hostels, boutiques in the area with modern or vintage clothing, advice for beauty and fashion and a forum for people to talk about their cities and styles. Contributions are unpaid unfortunately for now, I'm a college student myself just experimenting with an idea; but if you have a love of fashion and new and creative ideas and designs, please help us out!!!

Ciao!!

Mind Maps revisited

A couple of years back there was a thread in here about mindmapping.

http://tribes.tribe.net/ideafactory/thread/e9560cfa-a877-4733-ac31-be5580b4ed40

I was actually introduced to this while at school by a forward thinking teacher who recommended Tony Buzan's first book on it.

I used the process from time to time, with mixed results and have played around with the various computer programs that do this. .

This last week I finally got some pro training on them during a week-long MBA course and I am very impressed. Since then me and my classmates have been using it to very good effect.

Suggest you take a look at these free programs:
Freemind http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page, CMap http://cmap.ihmc.us/. A cheap but incredibly powerful
program is Inspiration (Inspiration.com)

The beauty of the software is that you can flip between linear text lists and mindmaps at the press of a button.

The advantage of mindmaps over lists is that you can keep adding to them over time even on paper and you can remember material far more easily than if you have just taken lineal notes.

Definitely worth another look.

Also there is a demo of Media magazine navigated through mind maps at www.thebrain.com

For more info see www.mindwerx.com.au -- this is the group that lectured us.

If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to try to answer.

Patents

Anyone here ever had a brilliant idea, or come up with a really good way of doing something very difficult, only to find that a "generic" patent already exists which prevents you from pursuing your invention?

As a hypothetical example, suppose you had developed a uniquely brilliant system to diagnose mechanical faults in a car's engine using only a microphone and a PC. If you did a search of patents with the relevant keywords you would almost certainly come up with a patent whose main claim was something like "Diagnosis of vehicle faults using an electronic computer and sensors". Further claims would no doubt go into great detail about how the information would be displayed to the operator, and how a digital voice might speak the results, but the really difficult part would not be described in detail at all. If the original inventor had made the thing described in his patent it would have been useless, so it would be extremely galling to have to fight, or pay him to pursue your idea.

I am having such an experience at work. I have invented a pretty nifty device which solves a hard problem using several novel software techniques, a PC, and a particular combination of sensors - possibly better than anyone else has ever done it. The company I work for has an IP specialist, and it seems as though he will search the patents on a few keywords, and conclude that my invention is covered by several such "generic" patents, and that it is not worth us pursuing it. So frustrating!

Is it really the case that you can identify a problem to be solved, and simply lodge a patent stating "computer" and "sensors" with no real idea of how it would work and then charge the people who really solve the problem a license fee?

I am thinking of starting Chinese courses for beginners. There are 10 lessons for the course and each lesson is 2 hours done weekly. There will be a lecturer delivering the lessons to the class. What is the fee I should charge. Is $ 300 for the course reasonable.

on product shipping costs?

I have started a company that would greatly benefit from a webstore/shopping cart type of selling. My problem is that the shipping charges would make it prohibitive to buy what I'm selling.

I am trying to sell beverages. Its not going to work if a $2 drink costs $6 with the ~$4 of additional shipping charges thrown in. Shipping is measured in weight, so a bulk purchase of several cases wont really reduce the customer's expenses either.

Ideas please!

Inventor's Paradise

I would like to start an intentional community for inventors, or actually one which would be the ideal environment for inventors as well as regular people.

Inventors (and regular people) need individual decision power and time to invent. Many inventors aren't motivated by the desire to make money. If they do want money, it is usually just because they want the time to invent, which money would provide.

An intention community can provide a sharing extremely collaborative environment, which would allow inventors to accomplish their dreams.

A typical inventor in America might make about $4000 a month or so, from which about $4000 a month is spent on basic survival expenses, leaving little or nothing left over for inventing.

In a typical intentional community in America, the average person makes the community perhaps $1000 a month or so (due to businesses which make very low income per hour of labor, which is due to lack of inventors). From that, pathetic income, these people have about $100 left over, free and clear, which could be used for inventing.

I'm not talking about making a typical intentional community. I'm talking a community with modern tools and machines, which will boost income potential. Let's say we have a community where each person brings in an average of $2000 a month. From that, $1000 a month can be spent on tools, machines, and R&D.

Here's the difference. See, every $1000 extra, benefits you, because most of the stuff purchased with it, is stuff which is available for you to use. Say for example, that Joe, Jim, and Fred get together and buy a Electron Scanning Microscope. Guess who gets to use it. You do! Say Frank, George, Bob and Sue get together and buy a CNC Milling Machine. Guess who gets to use it. You do! If you don't know how, no problem, Frank or George or someone will help you.

You want toys? Well, a few people made some go-carts, and guess who gets to use them. You do. Someone else bought a pool table, a big screen TV, etc. All available for you to use.

What I'm talking about is a community where you get to choose what your portion of the money is used for, but what ever it is used for becomes shared property, available to all. If there's 100 people in the community, they'll all be buying things for you to use. Like getting $100,000 a month worth of stuff, and not needed to think about what to spend it on ;)

This will be a shared income style community, with a radical new style of decision making, which allows individual freedom. There will be some time, which you will have required tasks, to keep the community going, but there'll be plenty of time left over for inventing or whatever your inspired to do. Perhaps 10 to 20 hours a week of required tasks.

There are some mild problems, but those are easily worked out. We are after all, problem solvers.

So, anyone interested?

I have an invention that is going to be reviewed by a prestiegious team of doctors on December 9th. I would like anyone with medical or marketing knowledge (it is a medical device) to evaluate it for workability, marketability, and anything else that may be of use.

The device is featured here:

http://2xfr.patentcafe.com/details.asp?id=101496

It is called the MDR Pack, standing for Mammalian Dive Reflex Pack, triggers the dive reflex for theraputic purposes. It is simple, cheap, easy to manufacture, and so simple to use that even a layman can do it.

I will have 20 to 25 min to make my pitch, so anyone who can anticipate the questions that might be asked or provide tips on making the presentation is humbly begged for assistance.

Thanks in advance!

Mechanisms to Reach Start Ups?

Greetings..

While there are some techniques we have, I'm looking for alternate mechanisms to reach new start ups.

Manufacturers: I want to try and find manufacturers in any stage past the initial round of funding- since SRG (my company) can help develop everything from product development to packaging and manufacturing to sales and customer outreach.

Specialty Retail: I want to find small niche retailers in any stage... Not only does SRG offer services that can help these stores, but I also am creating databases of Specialty Retail locations across the board. (For example, I have or am creating lists that are every game store, every hobby store, every specialty pet store, every bead store).

Distributors/Brokers/Reps- I have services to offer these companies- but mainly I want to make certain they know about upcoming products in their respective lines.

Any suggestions?

Ali

-If you would rather e-mail me privately, my work address is ali@specialtyretailgroup.com.
-Our site is currently under development, with a great many things coming, but the URL is http://www.specialtyretailgroup.com

I've come up with a design that I haven't found on the internet. I've produced a prototype, but don't have any money to mass manufacture. Any suggestions?

It's a men's lingerie item.

Totally off topic, but I imagine still of interest

Hey peoples, this is off topic, but I'm guessing that, you being the crafty, new thinking friendly, eclectic folk you are, you may be able to help me connect the dots on this one...

So let's get right to it: I need to find grants to cover my life expenses while in this amazing MBA program, whose focus is Sustainable Management, ie business done in a way that considers people, planet, and profit, at Presidio World College www.presidioworldcollege.com based in San Francisco.

I would love your help in suggestions for resources to find them, or if you know specific ones that might be of interest, I'd like to know about them. I'm new to the world of grants, and wow, there seems a lot of shady resources on the internet, I don't know what to trust!

Or, perhaps you know of local businesses/individuals that would potentially be up for supporting someone in this powerful path I'm starting to walk down, this Fall. If so, I can definitely give reasons in spades why their investment in me would be multiplied in the world positive impact I will make once out of school.

thanks in advance for any leads, and do feel free to pass this on...

Wizzard of Oz needs backer(s) for patent rights to "CASH COW" idea! I have technical support, the inspiration came to me like a chapter in the bible came to it's author. According to those of you who have some faith in somebody, it is often times a heaven sent message that changes the course of history. If you belive, you do, and if you don't... that's alright too! All you need to inspire you now is the LOVE of Greenbacks! The idea is in the area of ENERGY, and it will greatly reduce the use of fossil fuel and natural gas. If that doesn't catch your attention, hit the NEXT button! Thank you!

Asset Protection - Timing is Everything

Unless you have been hiding in the Mountains of Tibet,
or some other remote location devoid of the scourge of
the modern media, you know that we are living in an
increasingly litigious age. Everyone wants to sue
their neighbors, and their always seems to be some
idiotic Plaintiff's attorney willing to take some
bogus case on the off chance that they may be able to
settle for the nuisance value. In addition to the
Plaintiffs Bar, you also should be concerned about the
powers of the government which has adopted all manner
of abusive legal practices to deprive "evil doers"
like Martha Stewart of her wealth.

Fortunately, (for Martha Stewart who planned ahead and
really never had too much to worry about and the rest
of us) the laws are not entirely arbitrary and at the
whim of Bench. It is still possible to establish
effective, legal structures that can make you "bullet
proof" to all but the most determined adversary.

Five years ago I came up with an asset protection
solution for those with real property in non-Homestead
states. This system evolved into the Personal
Preservation Package. It is simple yet effective, but
suffers from one profound weakness (a weakness that
ALL asset protection programs suffer from):

YOU MUST ESTABLISH THE SYSTEM BEFORE SOMETHING BAD
HAPPENS!!!!!!

There is no such thing as true "bullet proof"
protection. Anyone who claims such is being
ingenuous. However, you can create a structure that
is so expensive for the creditor to crack that it is
just not worth the effort to do so. The problem with
most of these systems is that the cost and complexity
that is required to discourage a possible creditor is
also discouraging to the potential client.

That is why I am so proud of the Personal Preservation
Package. It is simple and elegant, yet powerful. For
full protection to be enjoyed, only 2 entities are
required: a Texas Irrevocable Trust and a Texas
Limited Liability Company. Together these 2 entities
create a barrier that only the most foolhardy of
creditors would even attempt to pierce.

And the best part is that the system is inexpensive to
establish, and inexpensive to maintain!!!!

If you would like more information about the Personal
Preservation Package, go to:

or just give me a call toll free at 1-877-226-3205.

REMEMBER: The best asset protection system will not
work AFTER you have been sued. Don't wait to find out
if you are protected. ACT NOW!!!

how do i approach getting a car company to donate a car to a non-profit?

I work for a non-profit alternative school/learning centre in Vancouver, Canada. What I want is a car (diesel engine) donated to the learning centre by someone like Volkswagen. I would then have the biodiesel guys come show the kids how to convert the engine to take bio diesel and do a whole series of lessons on the impact our car use and fuel consumption has on the planet. I already have a source for donated biodiesel. The car would then clearly be marked with the sponsors names plus the name of the school. Any suggestions on how I go about approaching a car company? Any one recommend a company you think might be the one to approach? Any tips, suggestions, ideas welcome. The car would be used for our frequent, at least weekly, outings/field trips.

recommendations on web hosting for small business??

Hi,

I am considering using the Yahoo Merchant Solution starter to build a website for a small business. We're a service business that provides sporting instructions and a few merchandize. We have several branches worldwide.

Can anyone share their experience (good/bad) with Yahoo web hosting?
How would you rate their price?
Is their shopping cart working well?
Any complaints from your customers and webmasters?
Is it easy to build a website for selling online?

Please include your website address if you don't mind. I want to get an idea what kind of designs are supportable by Yahoo. thanks very much!

Hello all, I'm brand new to this tribe and look forward to lots of discussion on how we can all help each other become wealthy!

I'm considering opening a flower shop. I'm considering this because I believe I'll have very little start up costs, and the city I want to open up in, although very small, doesn't currently have a flower shop. The city is growing very quickly and I'd like to be the first flower shop there.

My question is this... I'm wondering if anyone here has started a flower shop and if they could give me an idea what kind of advertising/gimmicks work best to bring customers in and how much sales I might expect during my first 6 or 9 months of business.

Thanks for any input/ideas. Have a great weekend.

need some advice

i regularly get my coffee at this great coffee shop in my county. it really has a lot of potential to be the town hang-out, but after several months, it still hasn't taken off yet. when i come in, there are only one or two people there, if any. the owners are getting discouraged. they can't figure it out because they have so much that other places do not- free internet access on the cafe computer, cushy comfy couches, tons of the latest reading material for customers to peruse for free and a stage and other capabilities for great acoustic stage performances.

the obvious reason i saw that they are not doing well is advertising. they don't seem to get the word out enough, but they also confuse people with their sign. it's called michael's. sounds like a jewelry store, huh? and that is the sign glowing over the business. they need some indication that they are a coffee shop (especially since it is the only one in the town).

they said tonight that they may do away with music performances all together because they are so inconsistent. one problem is they don't pay their performers (because they can't afford it). i suggested that they charge a cover at the door. another idea i had is to organize a concert with various acoustic artists.

i don't know, though, i am a rookie at this pr stuff. so what kinds of ideas do you guys have to turn this business around? i really want to make this happen.

thanks!

I wanted to start teaching a class in one of my trades and at the end have the successful candidates be able to have something to show for it. How do I go about certifying my trade? For example: I know some belly dancers have certification courses, is this a state run thing or are they just using the words "certified" to make themselves sound more official. Is there a formal process to this or do people make up their own deals. Another example is tarot card reading certification. Both of these are unrelated to the trade I will be offering but examples of classes that lead to "certification".

I’m new to this group. I just wanted to let everyone know about this really cool website I stumbled across. It’s a social networking service -- www.Simpatico.com They seem pretty new but I think it will really take off... It’s a community for singles and others where you can go in and meet all kinds of people...It has been extremely helpful to me in my business… I have made lots of contacts and done a lot of networking...You can start a club and manage it as a private, moderated or public one. You can invite all your friends and they can accept or decline...you can see the photos and profiles of who joined. You can even plan events...its like Evite but much better...you can see the attendees' profiles… There is also a huge classified ad section with free photo classifieds..! This is the only website I have seen where you can see full profiles of friends of friends and see what clubs, events and things they are selling… Well I think this is a very cool website you all should definitely check it out…

I'm working on a documentary about Iraq and the people who are risking their lives to help the Iraqi's with the birth a new democracy. My POV is that Iraq is a very noble effort. There's way to much criticism and not enough praise for the accomplishments. If you're interested in seeing an on-line version of the film, please email me. I'm also looking for people who can help me get the word our about the film via internet and support the film with small donations.

Full time gig vs part time consulting

I have tried to start my own sales rep buz. Rather than look for a job that has a base plus commision and is full time, I have tried to build up companies that pay commission but are flexible on time and like my area of expertise. There is a job opportunity where I would have to move to china and leave at least one of the local opportunities I have. The other stuff I can possibly do via email and phone calls. The money is good but I would rather do it part time and go over several times a year as opposed to living there all year round.

I think since the times are changing and I like the idea of building up my customers, it makes more sense not to put all of my eggs in one basket. Like supplying to Walmart. Margins are slim and one is vulnerable. It would be a great experience but it could be risky. Any thought on this would be great.

how about a FAT TAX? Part II

The idea of taxing the Twinkies had sparked a much deeper discussion and started to bring new ideas to light. In response to my own question ("Who will help them?"), Brad, I TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY for helping our kids (since their parents seem to be failing them horribly!), in any way I possibly can! Another solution is to start educating the parents and caregivers about health and nutrition! There are plenty of colleges! Why not offer a free course on nutrition for all parents?

I, also, choose to accept responsibility by supporting positive efforts of others to bring such health reforms into our schools. Don't see many others besides them waiting in line to make a change! By limiting unhealthy options and offering healthy food / snack options, kids WILL learn better eating habits.

Canada and Australia have put some tasty ideas on the plate.
What other acceptable creative ways are there to help decrease obesity in our generation, and especially the YOUNG (i.e. FUTURE) generation?

Help us save Curtis ... we need you.

Hi there. I am not sure if you know Curtis Coleman ... he's a friend of ours in the Burning Man community. His situation is very precarious right now, so if I can ask you anything it would be that you put him in your thoughts and prayers.

Friends of Curtis is a community effort to support singer/songwriter Curtis Coleman as he battles squamous cell carcinoma, an aggressive cancer attacking his neck and throat. Last year, Curtis’ musical performances helped tens of thousands of children to learn about safety and expressing their own voices. Now, he may lose his own voice forever. Together we can help prevent that.

I have a huge favor to ask of you. We're putting together a FUNdraiser for Curtis, on March 5 at SOMArts in San Francisco. As part of this we are having a silent auction to let people take home some cool items while leaving some more of their cash behind LOL.

Would any of you be willing to donate an item or two to auction off at the benefit? I'd love anything, but if it's something meaningful to you, I'm sure it'll go over great with the crowd.

You would get a display sheet with your name/web site on it and the right to display your business cards right next to your products.

If you think you can participate, please let me know and we'll figure out logistics. I really appreciate it.

You can read about Curtis at http://www.friendsofcurtis.com

Thanks in advance!

What if there were a way to Eliminate a weekly, monthly expense - would you be interested?

What if there were a way to Eliminate a weekly, monthly expense would you be interested?

Hello, Jay and Shelley here,
Got some new exciting information for you - have a read!

As you know - my "big picture" is to eliminate expenses through healthy choices with a consumable product. It is true, I have been researching a company over the past 4 months after first being exposed to them at the Health symposium in the latter of 2004.

Shelley and I have decided to add it to our expense elimination program for the following reasons:
1) It is an amazing substitution to products we purchase weekly and highly consumable.
2) The products are highly versatile and create a very healthy environment for our home and bodies.
3) The company is just over 24 months old and only in the US & Canada
4) The compensation plan and commissionable payouts are the highest I've seen
5) The monthly autoship requirements are possibly the lowest I've seen allowing for less pressure on the associates and a 95% reorder rate with minimal attrition
6) I have met with one of the owners of the company along with the top Associate in Canada and a 15 year veteran in Direct Marketing and the program is set up for all to participate in no matter what other companies the associates participate in presently or in the future.
7) The website & back office is the best I've seen - and the video presentation actually tracks what prospects actually view and then e-mails you immediately to let you know that you have someone interested and what videos they have watched - be it product, be it compensation or all.
8) The testimonials are incredible both here in Canada and the US ( I witnessed it firsthand at the Richmond Private Golf & Country Club at a hosted event by the top Canadian Associate )
9) There is no innitiation fee - product package of your choosing only and after the purchase of either package 1 2 or 3 the associate does not need to start their autoship for 2 months!
10) The products replace the following products we use daily ( which by the way may have harmful ingredients such as Propylene Glycol, DEA, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Alcohol, Aluminum, Talc and many more. Here are the everyday products they replace:
a) Body soap, hand soap, bath soap,
b) toothpaste
c) Shampoo, Conditioner, Moisturizer ( body, face )
d) First Aid applications, Sunburn applications,
e) Greens products and Flax products
f) Laundry soap, Dish soap
g) Body deodorant, under arm deodorant
h) House cleaners, auto cleaners
and the list goes on........

To sum up: Highly consumable, many applications with health and safety paramount, very exciting compensation plan, low autoship requirements, lateral spending from purchases we make weekly, monthly etc. ( no new added expense! ) with the ability to reduce everyones expenses and very possibly get paid to wash your face, hair, brush your teeth, clean your house, your car, increase vitality and overall health and create a healthy harmonious home & body environment, just over the make or break 2 yr mark, only in the US and Canada presently, positioned under the top Associate in Canada right here in Richmond BC. and ofcourse fits in with Shelley and I's Expense Elimination Program we have implemented for 2005.

Footnote: I polled a few of my most sceptical friends that have always looked down on Network marketing and programs such as this and here is the responses I received:

"Jay, from all the programs you have shown us - this one interests us because it just makes sense"

"Shelley and Jay, you've really hit something big with this - we're definately looking at this program for our family and home"

"We're interested! When can we have a look at this first hand"

"My wife who absolutely has no time for these programs is considering this one because of it's logic and the lateral spending of monies we spend already with the opportunity to get it free and wow maybe even get paid to use it!"

I think you will agree that this has the potential to serve our clients in a way we have never tapped into before, it's not a fad or a trend just a healthy solution to reduce expenses in a very real environment - the average North American's pocket book.

I am an Artist and workshop Fascillitator. I run creative healing workshops on helping others get in touch with there passion, love and purpose in life. I have travelled back and fourth to the Usa and australia doing this. I am very right brained and yes I am learning the whole network thing, But my situation is low budget and living in Oz trying to get workshops going in the Usa is hard.
So I was opening to getting some one who is just into marketing
and wanting to market me.
Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a tribe composed of people who have successfully aquired real estate, improved, and vacant land, residential, commercial etc, that are interested in doing trades, like we've all done while playing Monopoly, to improve our position. I have two properties and would like to join a tribe full of "outside the box" thinkers who have property's to trade, and wish to have new projects to take to new heights. Anyone know of a place I can find these like minded people.. please advise! Thanks, CasinoCwby@aol.com (a man with an urge to gamble) lol j/k

hi there.

i have asked this on the small business tribe & i am afraid i shall ask it here as well.

i have figured out what would be the perfect business -for me-. (i doubt it would be the perfect business for many, but if one does not have ones bliss to follow (if one lacks anything as frivolous as "bliss") i suppose one should follow what one knows & loves. at any rate).

the snag i have hit is the above. the importing thing. i dont know how to do it. i can usually figure out how to do virtually anything (as long as it does not involve math), but this is so far from my realm of experience that i dont even understand which steps to take to understand it, if that makes any sense.

does anyone know??

i do have a bank of professionals that i can use as help (broker, accountant, attorney, etc & ect), who all do jobs i dont understand well, largely, either & who understand me about equally (gothish thing that i am, i inherited them along w/ the money to start an import business from my mother).

would i need to get at least my broker, or financial adviser, or whatever, involved??

am i forced to go to japan, even though i know precisely what i want to import??

can the enormous bank that i am now connected to get me a japan address??

help??

thanks.

Non-Duality is the perspective that everything is good. That there is never a situation of us against them. It is always just us.

Looking to apply methodology in a real world situation to solve a real world problem... I was doing a little brainstorming. What do you think of this?

It's widely recognized that the US is now experiencing a obesity epidemic. Too many fat people. Too many of us are too heavy!

What do you think of the idea of establishing a Fat Tax? Some sort of almost excessive tax would be levied on all junk food? That money would go... say to solve the social security problem of the baby boomer's retiring. Republicans? Democrats? I don't think ether would feel threatened? If they both agreed... then that would be political non-duality. Just an idea...

Hey all, I had heard that a new way for small investors to buy gold (for investment purposes) cheaply had come on line recently, but I don't know where to find it. Anybody know what I'm talking about? If so, can you provide a link?

I've been back on my bike recently, wishing someone would come along and invent A) a charger for my cell phone that's powered by wheel motion, like a light, and B) a holder on the handlebars for a cell phone, which I can then attach an earpiece to.

Would one of you geniuses get to work on it already??

New movement to co-opt corporations for change

I have a passion for life - for my life, my kids ’lives, and all of our lives …so I have to share my passion and my vision (that follows) with you …hoping that it might lead you to more hope-filled, joyful and sustainable lives.

First, for perspective, the next paragraph is the important part of world history in a single paragraph. Then, I hope to enlist you in joining the Aikido Activism Movement, a movement that can face today ’s deepest challenges with the most empowered approach to change.

THE IMPORTANT PART OF WORLD HISTORY IN A PARAGRAPH
Humanity has passed from a first great era of primarily physically-mediated conflict to one today of primarily economically-mediated conflict (see for example, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, by John Perkins - http://www.tinyurl.com/4tebc or http://www.tinyurl.com/5t8j9 ) and NOW we can and must advance to an era of primarily reason-mediated conflict. In each of the earlier eras people by and large did the best they could with what they had (as they will today and in the future only now with much better tools for communication which MUST be used for increased understanding, which -- fortunately -- can naturally translate to caring). The problem of capitalism today was less a problem when it was invented as a solution to feudal imperialism (with regular physical conflict). Economic imperialism has yet further removed the suffering from view of the beneficiaries of economic imperialism; but, in order to link with economic subjects, a global network has been built that can actually be used to bring people together -- and while inter-tribal, international, and intercorporate engagements in ages of primarily physically-mediated and primarily economically-mediated conflict have a history of being quite exploitive (if not deadly), engagements in the dawning age of reason can evolve to be much more like a dance, yet still a dance of joy or survival depending on one's viewpoint. The key should be seeing the power of inclusion, which can bring joy and unity -- replacing profit maximization with fruition maximization as a necessity for sustainability/survival and joy in a globalizing era.

My passions have been channeled into writing about a systematic solution to this systemic problem of today: that corporations do both the most good and the most bad, but it is their ability to hide bad things in the complexity of corporate behavior and in the popular but treacherous myth they promulgate -- "greed is good" -- that has led to essentially all major world problems.

Efforts to overpower corporations with grass roots public fervor or death-of-their-excesses by a thousand cuts from non-profits or NGOs appear to be having little effect, so why not turn the tools of corporations (and their economic might) against their regressive practices? This is Aikido Activism, my passion that I hope will become yours in a budding movement that everyone should want to join - and that anyone and everyone with a computer and Internet access is empowered to advance by sharing parts of the puzzle (how Aikido Activism can be applied in their field and applying it), supporting other Aikido Activists, getting the word out electronically, etc.

Change is possible. Find out who some Aikido Activists are who are working for progressive transformation of outworn social traditions –and please share any comments, ideas, connections, at the new wiki-website http://aikidoactivism.xwiki.com/ where there is a growing amount of information begun to be collected and organized online to advance the Aikido Progressive Movement – to understand our past and build a promising opportunity for our future.

a sick Market Rally

Here's a new idea in the realm of economics.

This current market rally... really could last a while-- six months or more. But it's a SICK rally, based not on improving market conditions but rather on deteriorating market conditions. What? How's that possible?

After the tech bubble burst, interest rates were lowered to practically nothing. This fueled an avalanche of home buying and with that, home appreciation. During these past few years home owners found themselves able to refinance at a lower interest rate, while at the same time cashing out some of this new found equity. Some hone owners did this over and over again. This was where all the NEW money came from after the bubble burst.

Now now interest rates are starting to go up again, this refinance housing boom is just about over. So where's the next big cache of consumer money to come from? Simple. It's the devaluation of the dollar. During the past six months the dollar has lost 8%, and all the experts agree this trend will continue. Try to understand this. When the dollar looses value, the price of gold goes up. Not because gold is suddenly worth more. The dollar is suddenly worth less. This happens with all hard assets. Oil too has gone up for the same reason.

Now here's my point. Something very few people realize. The corporations of America too are hard assets, and when the price of the dollar goes down... guess what... the price of their stock goes up... and up. Yes. That's what this rally is based on. It's a sick rally because this is draining wealth from everyone who has savings. CD's treasury bonds, cash. These are not hard assets.

When you look at your CD statement and you see that you've made some interest, keep in mind, since Georgy took office the dollar has lost 50% of it's value, which mean you may be a big loser and not even know it.

Here's the good news. It looks like the gold EFT will be coming to market in the next couple of weeks. That means that anyone who has a brokerage account will be able to purchase one ounce of gold just like it was a share of stock.

This is going to be fun. Get ready to make some money.

http://business.bostonherald.com/businessNews/view.bg?articleid=55356

"In a nutshell, Roach's argument is that America's record trade deficit means the dollar will keep falling. To keep foreigners buying T-bills and prevent a resulting rise in inflation, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan will be forced to raise interest rates further and faster than he wants.

"The result: U.S. consumers, who are in debt up to their eyeballs, will get pounded.

"To finance its current account deficit with the rest of the world, he said, America has to import $2.6 billion in cash. Every working day.

"That is an amazing 80 percent of the entire world's net savings.

"Sustainable? Hardly."

"Nearly half of new mortgage borrowing is at flexible interest rates, leaving borrowers much more vulnerable to rate hikes."

Some questions I have are:
If one uses an outside design co to generate a unit who owns the patent?
How long does the process take, start to finish?
How many clams does this set you back?

We are looking for someone who can complete drawings (most parts are ABS plastic) for production and for making stl files in our plastics printer.

If you are somewhere in the LA vicinity it would help. However, the current guy works from home in AZ. This opp may lead to ft work since the old guy is trying to retire. (And, this company IS LUCRATIVE! Something not too common these days.)

New tack in a stale economy?

Greetings, folks,

I just moved back to Houston, to my old stomping grounds, from San Francisco, because I believe there is more opportunity here for me. I'm looking for an angle here.

Houston's economy is unique in some respects, but it also shares some characterisitics with every other American city. The oil and medical sectors are relatively strong here, IT crashed like a Led Zepplin.

About me. My background is in communications and adult education; I'm entrepreneurial, broke but motivated and starting afresh here. I need to both get on my feet and also make some moves towards developing some strong long-term strategies.

What questions should I be asking and what are some possible angles for someone in my situation to take here? Help me brainstorm!

Thanks!

Internet Marketing

So what are some of the best ways of getting targeted traffic you were talking about.

I agree with you whole heartedly that hits are meaningless unless they are generating traffic.

Right now I work in an office doing commision sales and if I do not start generating profit.

I am going to have to leave.

Sales is important I am just looking for better ways of generating targeted traffic.

This is the yahoo store I set up 2 days ago
http://store.uscompxchange.com/

The money that I have generated from the web at this point has been from auctions, and design.

Although I really want to start being able to produce advice to my clients as to some of the things that they should do with their marketing campaign.

My current list of marketing ideas.
Brochures
Magazine ads
Tv ads
Newspaper ads
Stationary
Postcards
Business Cards

Should you be doing pay per click traffic I have heard that it really is not a good way to make money.

Do you know of any links to any internet marketing material.

Thank you by the way for your time.

Do you know about any forums that embrace dealers?

I have a large quanity of universal power cords 100,000 of them I have been calling around to tier 2 and tier 3 vendors.

I need some more advice as to generating leads on this kind of volume of products.

That, and I want to promote things with out being rude to the people who are using services.

Sure there will always be someone that will complain.

Yet I know there is a way to serve people and to make enough money to enjoy your life.

So for the first time in my 38 years,I invested a few bucks awhile ago into a network marketing opportunity that someone shared with me. With no prior experience or background in the industry I was sure to fail,right?....WRONG. I am amazed at the income gener
