My Dad volunteered today at the Cajun Dome
Nothing but love for each other there

He says organizations are skilled at treating people in a triage style after an emergency, but locally they lack the skill & necessities to sustain large groups for many weeks.

Diapers of ALL sizes, baskets of goods; formula; thermometers; always children’s medicine.

Finally found my Granny 95 yrs old; I knew the old folks home she was in was taking good care of her, or so I care to think so I can take care of what I am able.

This is the first real emergency zone I've ever been involved in, at least this size, and not counting other parts of my life.

Displaced Americans is nothing I've known in my newly turned 40 years..

Just leading up to this week I lost my wallet and a cellphone headset, which I just got thru the mail to replace the broken one - it was driving me crazy. The worse part was loosing my wallet 2 weeks ago.

All I lost I don’t care except the picture of my gramps long dead & I love him. The last thing I have of him is his old drivers license. I smile every time I look at that old mug shot.

I was deeply moved in loosing that link to him - that precious jewel. So when I loss my cell phone headset; It scared me I was becoming so careless. Scary Monday's storm & Terrible Tuesday Nature does a violent apocalyptic dance on the town - of biblical proportion, but dont try to interpret or judge what can not be fully understood. I don’t know why I was loosing my stuff. Is it nature asserting its presence in my live though I’ve lived 12 away from my home New Orleans?

No matter keep pushing forward- Onward & Upward in this damn tread mill…

I got right to it accepted them as lost & gone forever. Ordered my new license; fixed the credit card things & am having my new new cell phone headset rushed to me.

With a head set on you have freedoms not locked in to holding the device; you know hands free to multi task…. In fact now I feel lucky to have such problems, can you dig what I am saying?
So I am rolling with it; putting my Stuff in order; cleaning my space with vim & vigor in order to “begin again” - wise words if I ever heard any.

Lo & behold while doing the through vacuum cleaning of my place there it was fallen behind a small book case, my Gramps ID still in my wallet…. Fuck Yeah!!!

My half brother called me today; first time in his 16 years to ever call me his old distant brother he should know better but doesn’t.

He was calling about a problem. He had to get out New Orleans & We hadn’t talked since before the storm. He’s not certain about the shape of the house & is having to adjust to his suddenly uprooted life.
It seems his problem is about a girl he met and he needed advice.
It’s amazing what can happen when you take tv away from kids.

Don't be stupid, & allow yourself to flow with it.

UPDATE 3 -IT GET WORSE
Who are the Real People in this sad reality that need the most help now. I don?t know them by name, but they need us now. I know them personally now. I do not ignore their cry. I will not stop until they stop hurting.

It is what I preach, more than I do, but this will not go away anymore.

We are being called to deliver a great moment in time of humanity. This is the spirit that We must give before we can leave this world better than we found it.

There is anger because the pain, I remind myself to understand because I can?t truly put myself in their shoes. But I show up today to give my energy and compassion.

Don?t wait for the government; by the energy of your own strength give 1 day to the recovery. America knows how to enjoy; and America knows how to work hard.

I am posting this for my dad who is gathering medical supplies, equipment, and other goods like children's medicines, canes, walkers, wheelchairs; glucometers & strips for diabetes ... the list is building
