The U.S. Senate is expected to vote TOMORROW on the Budget Reconciliation bill. Hidden inside the bill are provisions to triple the number of permanent U.S. jobs offered to foreign workers at a time when over 14 million American workers cannot find full-time jobs.
These new immigration & population increase measures were submitted by Sen. Specter (R-PA) and Sen. Kennedy (D-MA). These measures follow heavy lobbying from Microsoft and other corporations who wants cheap foreign workers to replace our American IT workers. A call to Senator Specter's office was answered with "these people can only wash dishes and stuff like that". I can assure you that these are IT workers mostly from India that will be taking good jobs. You would think that the staff of the Senator who introduced these measures would know what the legislation involves. Both political parties continue to show who they are fighting for- BIG BUSINESS!
Congress has already approved the importation of 1 million foreign workers (including their families) each year. These foreign workers are on top of the regular legal immigration numbers we approve each year.
America doesn't need the increase in population, pollution, congestion, crowded classrooms, healthcare costs, etc. The U.S. Census data shows that immigration causes about 87% of U.S. population growth.
Congress needs to end their unsustainable policies.
And Americans don't need to lose another 350,000 jobs to cheap foreign workers. These foreign workers will be given permanent residency in the U.S., so these IT jobs will be gone. This spending cut bill was already unacceptable. It not only cuts aid to students, but it also helps assure that good paying jobs are kept out of the reach of these same American students.
The measure is expected to pass.

Re: U.S. Senate wants to put 350,000 more Americans out of work!
Fri, November 4, 2005 - 7:52 AMUPDATE: Senate votes 85-14 to sell American Jobs to foreign workers.
Last night the Senate voted by a large margin to defeat an Amendment submitted by Sen. Robert Byrd (WV) to remove the Kennedy/Specter legislation to give 350,000 more jobs to foreign workers. The Byrd Amendment would have saved these 350,000+ American jobs.
Well, the Democrats and Republicans defeated the Byrd Amendment last night. They joined together to sell American jobs down the river. Instead of listing all the names of those that voted against the American worker I will instead list those 14 members who voted for the Byrd Amendment to save these jobs for Americans.
The only members of the Senate (14 members) that tried to save these American jobs :
