Hey y'all,
thought I'd share what Rakadu (Lexington, KY) has been up to recently. We opened for the Womens Writers Conference at the 'Gypsy Slam'...this was an improvised set, and based much more on improvisation exercises than ITS/ATS styling. Specifically, one of the aspects we took into this performance was 'echoing'. We always try to be conscious of the whole effect, as a sort of tableau, rather than allowing our individual egos take over. This allows shy people to shine 'for the group' where they may not have by themselves, and outgoing people to hold back from stealing the limelight in favor of what looks best for the group as a whole. The only thing we set was that Selina and Matt start the set with their eyes shut, and we that all finish the last song of the set with our eyes shut, giving and receiving energy to/from one another.
