  • I want the dirt.
    • Soooo, how did it go?!! details, details
      • Tribal Fest was soooo fabulously awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't say enough good words about it!

I loved it so much and got so much inspiration for dance/music and costuming from it that I am already planning/saving for my return next year!

I am in love with Amy Sigil and Unmata!
Amy Sigil's class was my favorite class of the week and Unmata was my favorite performance...I cried while watching them dance I was just so overwhelmed emotionally!

The Indigo was my other favorite performance.
And when the Brass Menazeri came in with the Indigo as a little surprise...I jumped for joy and screamed at the top of my lungs.
Those were my two high points of the show!

Asharah was amazing too!!! She did this stop motion thing that was sooo cool!!!

Other highlights of the show for me:
The Sexy Scallywags - Pirate Bellydance with Samantha Riggs - LOVED IT!
Urban Tribal - their second piece in particular
John Compton and Hahbi Ru - They are just great.
Vicki Virk and Dhol Rhythms - I love me some Bhangra!
TribqalTique was really cute and sassy - I took both of their classes and enjoyed them and will use some of that stuff.
Sabine - double sword - I just love her.

        My favorite classes:
Amy Sigil! - Loved her teaching style - Like an amusement park ride from start to finish that you don't want to end ever!
Mardi Love - She is such a good teacher! I liked her material and drills.
Heather Stants - loved the material, very modern and sleek.
Samantha Riggs Pirate BDance - Just dirty fun!

        Other classes I took:
Zoe is a unique and interesting dancer, fun class and I liked it.
Tribal Tique's classes were really fun and I am incorporating some of that into a special Belly Jazz number!
John Compton's was good, but I forgot my zils and he mostly taught Egyptian variations with zil patterns, so that was not fun for me with no zils. :( And that was my third class on the first day and I was zonked by that time due to the heatwave and no AC in our classroom.
I took a 2 hour private sword lesson with Sabine...she is just great!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bhangra with Viki Virk - LOVED IT! Very fun.

        The vending was killer!!!!
Melodia - I got the black with Red Phoenix Rising Mehndi pants - love them!
Wildcard/Five & Diamond/Tawapa was my all time favorite booth! I got 2 pair of leather ruffle cuffs that are so cute and some black ruffled knickers like Zoe!
Jewelia from TribalTique had some bindis that she made and I bought two of them...gorgeous!
Silk Road Tribal had more traditional stuff...got a couple of arm bands and a Sari Halter from them.
I loved everything by Black Lotus...but it was out of my budget this time.
I got a cute little top from Chovi Hani for class...the T-Top.

That's about it for vending...the rest was the usual stuff we see.

Overall it was just killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't want to leave!!! I wanted to move to California right that minute!
I'm pumping my girls up to go with me next year! I want them to experience it for themselves.

A little tip for those of you who want to go next year...you will need to start saving up $2,000-3,000.
Airfare, food, hotel, rental car, CLASSES, vending and incidentals.

That's just my take on it...Kate and Christina can tell you their take on it.
