hey everyone! my name is jolee and i live in jasper,in. about 2 1/2hrs from indy. honestly we don't get up to indy all that often but this regional group was the closest i could find!
i'm the only hooper here in lil' old jasper. i'm working on making my own hoop community (selling hoops, spreading the love) but would love to meet more hoopers in indiana! i'm so happy to hear there are active hoopers in indy and that there is a place for everyone to connect here. i'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!
happy hooping!

Re: allow me to introduce myself
Fri, June 8, 2007 - 8:39 AMHELLO Jolee! Nice to have another hooper in our mix.
I have one small tip for you in starting your own hoop community down there....don't get discouraged. I've been dealing with that here in Muncie (I'm about 40+ minutes from Indy, but don't always feel like makin' the drive). Also, if there are any bellydance studios nearby that hold Hafla's you might have some luck finding interested parties there. I go to the local Hafla's with my hoops. I show people how to do it during the open dancing and after all the scheduled performances. I have weekly hooping where I always have spare hoops for ANYONE to use. I'll make and sell some if anyone is interested, but I will always supply one for free during the play time. Another thing, any hip, cool locations around town....post/leave flyers. If you have a local college....post/leave some there......and you might want to put hula hoop on there....I don't know how many times I have to explain to noobs that hoop means hula hoop. You might also find some really great people up in Bloomington who are hoopers (I'm sure of it) as well as down in New Albany (there are some really awesome folks down that way too).
So glad to have you here!!! -

Re: allow me to introduce myself
Thu, June 21, 2007 - 9:16 AMthanks for the warm welcome, poosie. and all your effort in hooking me up with other hoopers.
there is no belly dancing here, LOL. the town has 12,000 people in it. there is a dance studio but it's for little kids. no adult classes. i'm going to see if they'll let me rent some space during the winter months though.
summer is such a busy time for us, we travel home a lot and always have at least 3 weddings to go to, so fall is a better time for me take off to bloomington.
so far i've got 5 people hooping...now i just have to get them together! :o)

Re: allow me to introduce myself
Mon, August 6, 2007 - 1:13 PMme too..I actually live in New Albany, IN although I post as a Louisvillian b/c its a more heard of place than "Nawbany"..so I too am a lone hooper and am trying to spread the love as well around these parts..given away 7 or so hoops that Ive made and am trying to get people as obsessed as I am with it...BTW..Miss Hailyn gave me my very first hoop back in April..for all of you who know her....Im sure you miss her. much..so Jasper is not that far from me..I am familiar with Corydon and went to school in Ramsey..so possibly we can get together sometime and hoop it up.....I am wanting so bad to hoop with someone who is at my level of obsession...so lemme know what you know..

Tue, August 7, 2007 - 10:39 AMRandom interjection -
When I was in Tell City for my cousin's wedding, at the Holiday Inn, there was a stack of adult size hoops. I asked about them at the front desk, and was told that a bunch of the girls that work there take a hooping class. Not sure if it's "hoopaerobics" or "hoopdance" but it might be worth looking into for all of you at the south end of the state. -

Re: allow me to introduce myself
Sun, August 26, 2007 - 9:28 PMHi there Indy Hoopers!
I am so exicted to learn there are some hoopers out there in the Southern Indiana Area! Thank you Sarah for finding me on the other Tribe group!!
My name is Rebecca and I am actually in Louisville. I was certain that the closest hooper I could find was in Dayton, Ohio but I am very excited to find out there are a few closer. So, I am fairly new to hooping but am very addicted to it. I got into to it as a way to have fun with my daughter who's crazy about it but quickly found out that it has been my salvation through some rough times recently.
So if you ever want to get together sometime please let me know. I have been making hoops and donated a bunch to my daughters school. I havent been really selling any but the more I take them in to the public the more interest is gained. Anyway, my best friend lives out in Ramsey and I am familiar with Corydon too.. so if you all get together sometime please give me a shout.
PS.. Im not opposed to driving to Bloomington or Indy on a weekend either. :) -
