Where do you think is the best place to have a 1000+ person indoor event in Seattle? What are the most important factors for a good venue? Parking, hours, security...

Thanks!

Somewhere "artsy"... a very large painting studio / GALLERY / no "ghetto" atmosphere (yellow warehouse near Spokane St.)... and yes- a place that stays open at least until 6 a.m. (if not 9 a.m.).

The question is, where? There are so few spaces in Seattle that can accommodate more than 500 people.

We're trying to put together a list of viable venue. Your criteria help. Now the question is, what venues fit?

        Oh, misunderstood the question.
I don't live in Seattle anymore, but from what I remember and from what I can gather, you need to start your own club.

There isn't a perfect place in Seattle. All venues are shit.
Which is why things happen illegally on the underground.
Which is stupid. We should be able to do things legit style.
But that requires someone investing some money into a good space.

Which, might be a very good business decision.
        :)

Where do the mega raves happen? The convention center at Qwest Field, the big hanger at Magnuson Park, the state fair grounds (not in Seattle), PSC.... that's all I can think of. Can the Premier/Fenix/Whatever hold 1000?

Why the drive to go so big?

          Big can be good.
          Go for it.
          But make your own space.
Security and water at some of these established places is bullshit.
Paying $5 for a bottle of water and them KEEPING the cap so you can't refill it, is . . . . well .. . . . . simply stupid.

Even if we want our own space, we have to find a building that has some sort of infrastructure. I really wish there were more options.

I'll keep digging. It is good to know what people find important. I know friends that have been trying to find the perfect place for their own venue for two years.

Why the drive to go so big?

There are some great crews doing smaller events and we fully support them. The talent we want to bring pulls in large numbers. Even for some of the more obscure acts, we find that once we give people the information, they want to come. Basically, our events are growing so we need more space. We don't want to have to turn people away.

I guess what i was getting at is if you scaled it back a bit, perhaps some better locations become viable options. Does looking for 750 capacity open up more desirable venues? I can understand not wanting to turn people away, but what ideals will you have to loose in order to meet that goal? There are worse things than selling out a show, like crappy security, poor bathroom facilities, and expensive or no vending.

Are there any venues in Seattle that hold 750? Even 500 is pushing it. The only one I know has terrible security and working with them is a bit tough. I'm open to ideas from 500 and up. I can fin 200 to 300 pretty well. I'd just like to have some ideas in my back pocket for when we have an event that fits.
