The main focus of this gathering is to give the gorean community a chance to work together and network with one another. It will give the opportunity for online and real life to mesh comfortably together in a fun friendly atmosphere.
The setting: 10 acres of lakefront private property, that is secluded enough for slaves to go naked if desired. There is a lake, restrooms, and a gazebo. A small ren faire type village is in the works to be set up at one end of the area, and there will be a main central fire. There will be several large fire pits for barbequing and the menu will follow a gorean theme. Games and festivities will abound with games such as kajira hogtying, and pony (slave) cart rides throughout the encampment, along with some dancing and serving competitions. There will be demos to watch and vendors to purchase from.
When: August 25-27, 2006
Though Goreans typically do not like rules, with this being a real life event some need to be put in place. This is to ensure safety, and respect for the property. We all desire to have a gorean gathering with the structure it provides. We cannot, however, forget that many here will be strangers and that laws and common sense cannot be forgotten.
The Rules:
Nothing is done without consent.
Those wishing to maintain a more book-like lifestyle at this event and capture/sell slaves, etc. need to state that at the entrance so that wristbands can be provided to distinguish from those who do not wish to participate in that. Any attempt to engage with A/any not wearing a wristband will end with that person being asked to leave.
Must be 21 years of age. Though many lifestyles require only to be 18 years of age, because there will be alcohol on the premises, the legal drinking age must be followed. Dungeon Masters, and Security men will have their hands full without having to go around carding everyone. All will be required to show valid ID at the entrance, and those not old enough will not be permitted, please do not do this to yourself especially if you are coming from out of state. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.
Alcohol is frowned on, but must be done responsibly if it is used. Partaking in alcohol may prohibit you from being able to participate in some of the games and activities, even asked to leave if necessary. For example, if a Free Person (a Dominant) has been drinking heavily and went to the ax-throwing contest, they will most likely be told they cannot participate in that activity at that time. If some choose to play there will be Dungeon Masters monitoring and if A/any have been thought to have too much to drink to play safely the scene will be stopped. Alcohol is not provided. Remember alcohol use is not preferred, and that is for the safety of A/all concerned.
Nothing is done without consent.
Wearing a wristband and participating as in the books does not entitle any person to hurt or harm another person Free or slave. Any attempts to fight with, or beat on a slave will result in that person asked to leave. The wristband does not allow you the free reign of an unowned slave as was allowed in the books. While the slaves will be here trying to be pleasing to all Free, the common sense of life must prevail. To the slaves while you will be given measures to prevent your harm, you must use common sense and must remain respectful at all times.
Drugs and any other illegal activities are strictly prohibited, and will result in whoever is partaking to be asked to leave.
Unowned slaves are not free game for Any and All. This is Gor, however it is Earth as well. Unowned slaves will be provided with a Keeper, and their word must be respected.
Nothing is done without consent.
This event is as much of a gorean event as it is possible to make it. This is a gathering of gorean Free and slaves, not subs. Not wearing a wristband does not give any slave the right to act anything other than as a gorean slave is expected to behave.
All must sign a waiver form at the entrance to gain entry. No exceptions.
Privacy of others' identities is mandated. No one has the right to out another's lifestyle. All who attend must maintain respect.
Greetings All,
A girl is very excited at how nicely the gathering is shaping up.
There are a few things that need to be communicated on, which is the
purpose of this post.
1. Carpools. There are those who are driving, and or flying, and some
who have no transportation who wish to attend. If You are in need of
a carpool, or if You have a car and can help transport those needing
it, please let girl know. Lets show strong community and help one
another out, so we can all attend the gathering and have lots of fun
times together.
2. Poll. A girl has put in a poll, this is a MANDATORY poll that only
one member of each group of people need answer, and just give an idea
of how many they think are going to be in their group. This is a
tentative headcount, and girl fully expects it to change closer tot
eh date, but it will give her a starting point. Remember, we all want
the gathering to go nice and smooth, and this requires Your support
as well :)
3. Extra Items. There are many who are traveling from far away, even
as far as England and Canada. Airports limit how much baggage one can
bring with them, so there will be a lot of people needing the use of
tents and any kind of camping gear, that they are unable to bring. If
you are able, and have extra, please bring it with you, and again,
contact this girl, as she is keeping a running tally of who is
bringing what kind of extras, to ensure everyone has bedding, and a
tent to sleep under. Many things are needed, and the more that anyone
can bring with them, the less a girl has to buy, which will continue
to keep the cost of the gathering as low as possible, which is in
everyone's best interest. Some examples are ice chests, serving
dishes, camp stoves, candles. Everything can and will be labled to
ensure its prompt return to its owner. Many of girls local community
network are donating tents and such for the gathering, and with your
continued support, girl is sure this can and will be accomplished
smoothly. If you have something, but are unsure if it will be needed,
please email a girl. Because so many are coming from out of town, if
You plan on bringing something extra like a tent, please contact a
girl, so she can keep her list updated, she doesn't wish to purchase
unnecessary items, if it is already being brought.
4. Sewing and Costuming. There are several who have offered to sew
everything from pillows, silks, costumes, and Homestone banners. This
is a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis. If you are interested in having
anything made for you, all you need to is contact a girl, provide the
material and the pattern you wish to use. She can then either let you
know of someone in your own area, or if not, then somone from her own
local area who has agreed to help sew. This needs promp attention and
needs to be started early, so those who are sewing do not get hit
with a ton of orders just before the gathering.
5. Volunteers. Volunteers are needed for many activities, help with
the serving of food, setting up for different activities, and
participating in the dancing and possibly a serving competition. We
all want to have fun and enjoy ourselves at this event. Hence, we are
asking only for an hour or so of Your time throughout the weekend. We
are hoping to do this on a rotating schedule, to ensure that all get
to have fun and enjoy the festivities. We all know that any event has
to have volunteers, without them, the weekend would not happen.
Please let this girl know how much time You can donate to ensure that
we all enjoy ourselves.
6. Donations. If You are in a position to donate any items that you
think will help enhance the gathering event, please let girl know. A
girl is keeping a running tally on these items, and is very excited
at the response she has gotten. A girl thinks herself, as well as
many others are hoping this turns into an annual affair, and these
items help greatly with that possibility. Anything and everything can
be donated, with nothing being too big or small. To show some of the
support the gathering has already received, there are those who are
donating candles, rugs, plywood, material for silks and pillows, and
the list goes on.
7. Photography. While it would be impossible to ban and regulate the
use of cameras at the gathering, a few things need to be said about
it. Firstly, photos must be done with consent. Secondly, any and all
photos taken of anyone at the gathering must be treated respectfully,
and not used in any way shape or form which would cause anyone undue
harm in their real life. Thirdly, please ensure if you do post any
pictures on the web, or a personal site, that either you have full
consent of all those within the picture(s), if you can not receive
their consent, please ensure to blur out any features which could
identify them, and cause them harm within their lives.
8. Activities. Due to the number of people planning on attending, it
is needed for any and all to let girl know if you are planning on
participating in some of the competitions. Soon there will be an
iteniery in the files section which will list who you need to speak
to in regards to what activity you are planning on participating in.
This is especially important for the dancing and serving
competitions.
9. Food. A girl is working on the menu now for the gathering. The
menu will be a bit varied, however if there are any with special
needs, a girl needs you to contact her ASAP so she can formulate that
in. Soon there will be a full menu of whats going to be served in the
files section that you will be able to print out and take with you,
and it will also list the ingredients of each of the dishes, to
ensure safety for all.

Re: Gor Gathering Information (long)
Mon, August 7, 2006 - 4:18 PMDue to a series of unfortunate events the Gor Gathering, originally scheduled for the last weekend in August, has been moved to May 2007. Those you who are local to the area know why we are all so very grateful for the rescheduling. May should prove a much more favorable time of year for an outdoor gathering.
I will post more information as it becomes available.
