I have a new question for you guys and gals, especially the Doctors here. I seem to be losing a lot of sleep lately because almost every night in the middle of my sleep cycle I have to get up and pee. I do tend to drink lots of fluids in the days (8+ cups of water or herbal tea) and so sometimes if I stop drinking fluids 2 hours before bedtime I will be ok, but not always. Plus I'm usually thirsty so I don't like to stop drinking things for 2 hours (tested negative for diabetes, go figure).
Is this the sign of a prostate problem at the age of 30?!
Thanks in advance :)

Re: middle of the night bathroom treks
Tue, November 28, 2006 - 3:36 PMDo you reaaallly have to pee, or is it that you're sleeping less deeply and wake up and happen to notice that you _could_ pee? -

Re: middle of the night bathroom treks
Wed, November 29, 2006 - 5:02 PMHmm - do you pee often throughout the day? Maybe you are drinking a lot but not absorbing as much as you should be. If you are concerned I would go check with a doctor =)
Best of luck... -

Re: middle of the night bathroom treks
Wed, November 29, 2006 - 7:21 PMHmm throughout the day maybe once every 1-3 hours depending on what I am doing so not too bad. I probably will go see my doc. I just feel silly because every time I see him I forget to ask about something so i figured i might ask around here first since we have some doctors here and there might be a simple answer.

Re: middle of the night bathroom treks
Fri, December 1, 2006 - 9:48 PMI thought this was normal. Their has rarely been a time where I slept through the night. I ALWAYS get up to go to the bathroom at least once a night. Always. Now you're scaring me, lol. -

And just to show the counter example, I *rarely* get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Like, 1% of the time or less.

Re: middle of the night bathroom treks
Sat, December 2, 2006 - 11:23 AMSame here. Unless I'm pregnant I get up to pee at night maybe once every few months.
Just like with bowel frequency, though, I'd think there would be a wide range that's still considered normal.

Re: middle of the night bathroom treks
Sat, December 2, 2006 - 12:24 PMI guess I have an overactive bladder. If I sleep though the night, its because I am *really* sleepy. I wake up with a SORE bladder from holding urine all night. -

Re: middle of the night bathroom treks
Sun, December 3, 2006 - 11:41 AMGlad you're getting checked out.
That bladder soreness is so awful!! I'm sorry to hear that you two have to fend that off every night! I get that problem every so often, and it can take a full day or two before it feels better. My condolences on that one. :(

Fri, December 8, 2006 - 11:45 AMstop drinking around 2 or 3 pm in the afternoon -are there kegal exercize for men?
Have prostate checked if you void with the feeling of not being finished.
Check to see if the herbal teas you are drinking act like a directic or stimulant.
barley teas can make you need to pee . -

Re: middle of the night bathroom treks
Sat, January 6, 2007 - 6:27 PMyes there are kegals for men, i wonder if that would help...hmm
I finally saw my doc and he said that it's normal to have to pee if you drink anything up to 2 hours before bed, and he also said not to take vitamins at night or it could be worse, also caffiene and booze would be something to avoid as well. I think i'm just too tea saturated is all :)
