hey folks!

i'm trying to pull together a last minute gathering of niceness. for this friday 8-10-07.

i've got a couple of djs with beautiful sets to make your body move all night. i'm working on setting them up in the little underground area of tabu on friday night.

i just need someone to supply the sound system! :) i don't have the cash flow to pay for the service...:( so if there is anyone out there who wants to help out just to provide a night of sheer exhileration for the ashland folks... that would be great! :)

Alumni night is Friday night as per tradition, as those who have attended these gatherings an infinite number of times return once again to rock the house, the ground, the waters, the mountains and you! Current lineup includes: Peter Fable, Remey Voodoo, Belfast Billy, Mandi Love, Carlos, Flash, Jeffe, and the "bridge" DJ for the year, leading us from the friday night old guard to the saturday night newcomers: Mirror (Luke).

DJ Layla and Magick Land will be hosting the abstraqt lounge in an abstraqt location on Friday night. Mostly chill, maybe weird.

The fabulous Zsa Zsa and her gang of Snuggle Sluts will be in charge of the A-Frame and Conference Hall Saturday night. They will transform them into comfy, cozy ambient spaces designed for relaxation, meditation and maybe some "checking"... All are encouraged to bring items to contribute to the altar.

The incomparable posse from Eugene (Jesse and Amber and friends) will be returning to Shasta this year with their ultra-secret theme (they won't even tell me!). In years past they put together the Love Shack and Margaritaville, and last year would have hosted Chakra The Monkey, had fate not prevented them from attending. We always look forward to their party creations!

The Talent Show has become one of the most popular events at these gatherings! Scheduled for Saturday 8pm (just before the Opening Circle). Please contact DJ Layla to apply for a slot in this years show.

Don't be afraid to venture into The Ghetto... or you might miss out on Big Momma's Soul Kitchen... the Sacramento gang cooks up a tasty blend of beats and beets on Sunday!

Other traditional events, such as Yoga, Children's activities, Potluck and the Sweat Lodge will spontaneously manifest as the weekend unfolds.

This Saturday, Dj Shaggy from the Rogue 97 FM, our very special guest Matty Dred and myself will be rocking the depths of one of the darkest, scariest, dirtiest and just plain nastiest disease ridden places in Ashland... The Venereal Club. For one night only we will be bringing the freakiest dance music, mashed up with jaw dropping turntabilism, and mind numbing, booty shaking, floor stomping throw you hands up in the air BASS. And if that just isn't enough, we will be lighting people on fire and bringing Ashland's Plaza Fire Show to Will Dodge Way in front of the Vinyl Club throughout the show.

This super-freak is about as good as an unsung hero of the underground can get. He threw down new vinyl at Freq-wency and had the A-frame rocking non-stop through his brilliant set. I was lucky enough to catch his set right after mine, and man... I'm just so happy to know this guy, and to have been the first producer/engineer type to work with him on original music.

Much love to you, Russell. I'm grateful for every chance I get to see you and spend time with you. Next time the TMD will def be in order....

Cirque du Soleil presents Corteo

Grand opening and after-party Fri. Nov. 11th...

Corteo, which means "cortege" in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.

The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.

I wanted to mention this as it will be the first time I am playing at a major event for an incredible production company. I know most of you won't really be able to make it (it is invite only), but still, I wanted to put it out there.
