might there be anyone that would be down for a snowy hoop session?
while i dont like the feeling of the cold, sometimes it is so beautiful to spin in the snow. and once you get whirling, it is surprising how quickly a body warms up! :)

Re: snowy hoop-down
Sat, December 29, 2007 - 2:03 PMI am planning on hooping at lease 2 times a week @ Beyer Hall or the State Gym here in Ames, followed by some yoga and 20 minutes in the steam room (all being free to the public) A few of my friends are interested too, It's a good way to work on some tricks and stay fit during the cold season.
interested let me know.

Tue, January 1, 2008 - 12:20 PMCassie,
I would love to work out some winter kinks and improve my hooping skills (I am a little beyond basics). When are you planning on meeting up? I'm in Woodward so travelling to Ames is pretty easy for me.

Re: snowy hoop-down
Tue, January 1, 2008 - 12:59 PMas far as location, i was thinking at the park on grand... maybe thats not the most convienient location for everyone though. i am not too familiar with the ames area, so if we meet up there maybe sa'ree can help with details there? maybe everyone can throw down on a good spot for them and we'll go with the best populated. i am in waukee - who's next?
p.s. i just got my first PSI hoop and am soooooo excited and overjoyed!! cant wait to meet up with all of you! -

Re: snowy hoop-down
Sat, January 5, 2008 - 6:10 AMWell, thats the beauty of living in Woodward, it is half way to Ames or DSM (30 mins. either way). I would love to meet up in DSM as well. Are you thinking of thegreenwood park by the art center or racoon valley more west almost to I-35? The other option would be that I have access to a gym so we could hoop indoors. The only catch is that if others want to use the gym, we would have to either share the space or leave. The chance of this happening is pretty low. We could meet there during the weekend or Mon./Fri nights. I am very flexible this weekend so I will be looking for posts. Let's try for tomorrow at 3:00 and start talking....
I am excited also to hoop with others. I am just beginning and I am eager to learn more and play!!!

Re: snowy hoop-down
Sat, January 5, 2008 - 5:08 PMi think there is a minimal charge for the Y.. maybe like 5 bucks or so. usually for just the pool use, its that much or right around there. i would be up for anytime early afternoon, maybe 1ish? beyer hall sounds good, i am not used to that area at all though. i cant wait to see everyone else's styles!! i always thought iowa was barren of fellow hoopers, thank goodness i was wrong!! :) sa'ree... bring your buds, love to make it a big group. -

Re: snowy hoop-down
Sat, January 5, 2008 - 5:32 PMok, i sent a msg to sa'ree and it hit me... with the weather being so nice lately, what are thoughts on meeting up at greenwood (i think) park on grand ave? i'm seriously not trying to change plans as much as possible, just a thought. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

I had the same thought. Let's plan on meeting at Greenwood at the amphitheatre at 12:30. I will stick a few extra hoops in the car in case others are interested. See you then!!!

Re: snowy hoop-down
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 11:34 AMaww greenwood is my favorite place to hoop! Love hooping by the lake and the Andy Goldsworthy sculpture behind the art center (which you can actually hoop INSIDE). My weekends are pretty busy but will try and keep watching!! Awesome more Des Moines people around! We met weekly last summer and was only the 3 of us normally. (my friends Worth and Amber and I) -
