I'm on a 3G, and upgraded recently to 3.0. Now that I have, it's SUPER slow, and there's huge lag issues. It's like carrying around a tiny PC in my pocket now, it's so slow.
3.0 didn't do enough in the way of exciting things to make me want to keep it, if it's going to be this slow! (I've lived without copy and paste this long, and the "shake to undo" is just sort of annoying).
I know it's probably just a ploy to make us buy the new, faster phones....but dang.
Anyone else having issues?

Have you turned it off for a minute or two and restarted?

Re: Anyone else upgraded to 3.0 and having lag issues?
Fri, June 26, 2009 - 12:24 PMNo problems at all for me. Safari is much faster. Seems a bit snappier in general.
What exactly is lagging? Launching apps? Web access?
You might be low on memory. Rebooting always helps, just like a PC ;-)

Re: Anyone else upgraded to 3.0 and having lag issues?
Fri, June 26, 2009 - 3:52 PMDefinitely try rebooting. If that doesn't work, try doing a full restore from iTunes. -

Re: Anyone else upgraded to 3.0 and having lag issues?
Sun, June 28, 2009 - 4:05 PMYeah I have a Gen1 that has definetly slowed down after the 3.0 upgrade. I've rebooted often and even tried a reload and its still laggy at times. -

Re: Anyone else upgraded to 3.0 and having lag issues?
Sun, June 28, 2009 - 4:25 PMNo lag so far. It seems a bit perkier, but that could be an artifact of cleaning crud when upgrading.
Copy/paste, and global search, are big 'uns for me.

Re: Anyone else upgraded to 3.0 and having lag issues?
Wed, July 1, 2009 - 11:43 AMHmm, weird, looks like I'm pretty much the only one....I think it might be a larger symptom of the problems of my specific handset. I'm going to take it into Apple and see what they think.
Thanks for sharing, everyone (well, everyone whose posts aren't completely illegible due to random links and special characters, that one just gets ignored...ahem) -

Re: Anyone else upgraded to 3.0 and having lag issues?
Wed, July 1, 2009 - 12:43 PMI'd suggest the following before going to Apple:
* Sync your iPhone with iTunes so all your data is backed up.
* Restore your iPhone back to factory defaults by Option-Clicking the "Restore" button and selecting the 3.0 iPhone firmware from ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/
* Let it activate your iPhone, but don't let it restore all the data just yet. See if you're still experiencing the lagging. Then restoring the rest of your data and see if the issue has returned.
It's entirely possible there's something corrupt in your current iPhone's software, but doing a straight ahead restore may restore the problem, too. And if you take your iPhone to Apple, they're gonna do what I just explained anyway, so you might as well try it yourself before spending an hour with them. -
