İ am currently in Turkey and have a ticket from Dublin back to SF May 31st. İ am considering home and in order to pay for my ticket from here to there.. was thinking of offering a workshop in the Turkish Roman style..
İ have been studying with a wonderful woman.. dancer.. here in İstanbul for over 2 years... and offer workshops from time to time.
İt is a dance to 9/8 rythym...
and who knows... if you really like it.. you can buy a ticket out here and learn from the real thing..!

Re: TURKİSH ROMAN WORKSHOP
Sat, May 20, 2006 - 11:23 AMthe 9 8 rythym not straight like the normal 4 and 8 of ciftetlli.....
it has a bounce in it
an extra beat that is unsual for our ears and that give an incredible feel
there are so many ways that this rythym is interpreted and the way that the turkish roman (gypsies) have... really is a treat to the ears and body!! -

Re: TURKİSH ROMAN WORKSHOP
Sat, May 20, 2006 - 11:37 AMJessaiah, I am very very tempted, i would love you to do a workshop here in Wexford but things are so up the wall at the moment that I couldn't guarantee a good attendancy, I've just hosted a troupe this week and working on shows and new classes, if someone in Dublin would arrange a workshop with you and it's a good timing for me I'd come up and maybe bring a couple of my students. Keep me posted anyway. I hope life has been good with you since I saw you last?
