Crocs are Great for Water Fights!

I was trying to stay out of the water fight, but when I got water-balloon-bombed, the fray must be joined! So I threw on shorts and a tank top and my Crocs, and I was good to go--kept my neuropathic feet protected in the pebbly grass and didn't have to worry about whether my shoes would be dry when the cold upstate-New-York evening fell.

No winners or losers--game was called on account of frigid winds--but I fought valiantly (and scored lots of hipness points with the 13-year-olds I was vacationing with and fighting against: a real political coup for a fuddy-duddy such as I).

Crocs Are Great for Air Travel!

Crocs are *wonderful* for wearing to the airport!

It's so good to be able to slip my shoes off, dump them in the bin, and then slip them back on and be on my way.

The news has been reporting that they catch in escalators and cause feet to be mangled, but I have not had that problem.

(Plus, it's nice to be able to remove my shoes in flight and wiggle my toes while I'm squashed into a seat.)

Kitchen Workers Love Crocs, Apparently...

Yesterday I was treated to lunch at one of the Cameron Mitchell restaurants in Columbus--very trendy, not much exciting for diabetic vegetarian heart-patients, but their Creole roasted tomato soup was way yummy--and wore my Crocs, since I knew I was going to be sitting down and not needing my regular super-supportive-and-hard-arch-insert shoes.

I was wearing my typical garb of lounge pants, which I have on occasion been told look a lot like chef's pants. As we left the restaurant and headed to the back parking lot, where I had found some of the last parking in the entire lot, we passed a couple of guys in chef's whites grabbing a smoke and wearing loungey-looking pants and... black Crocs, exactly like mine! I felt very trendy indeed, seeing my look echoed in that of workers in a trendy restaurant...

It's very rare that I get to look trendy in anything ever at all.

O.K., so my buddy, White Raven, invited me to this tribe and initially, I thought, "Eeeeww, those shoes are SO ugly!". But my words always come back to haunt me through my niece, "Auntie, keep an open mind, remember?", yeah, whatever. Well, that's what I did and . . .

NOW! I'm seriously considering visiting a Croc-ery to try some on. Never one to follow trends, I've been nursing an ankle injury and realize these shoes might have some therapeutic value. Any runners out there who can confirm this?

Local Hospital Bans Crocs

Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA has "banned" the wearing of Crocs while on duty at the hospital, siting a potential health hazard...They seem to feel that the openings (holes) on the top of the shoe, can be a hazard when working with needles (which can be dropped) or fluids (which can leak through), etc...What a sad day for the Staff at Mercy Hospital...

I love my Crocs, they are the most comfortable shoes on the planet, and now that I know that hospital staff swear by them I've decided they are the perfect work shoe, but it's freezing cold in the building where I work.

I am also thinking ahead (wistfully, in this heat!) to the winter months.

... is when you walk into a shop and see an ENTIRE WALL of Crocs and then find that your particular size is only available in poo-brown and army-green. It's torture!!

That's why I had to order my Red Crocs on-line. They did arrive in JUST in the nick of time for our party this weekend. Yay! My son said I looked like a true Brit in my red shoes and "croquet whites," England's colors.

Today I walked into work wearing shorts a tshirt and my Crocs, and I raised my foot high into the air and announced, "I think all librarians should wear Crocs!"

My boss agreed. "Yes!! Let's make them the "official shoe" of the library! They'll all be shopping today and this weekend. Let's see what Monday looks like around here. Very colorful, I hope!

Today, Dave called me from a store and said "They have your size Crocs here!" So I stopped on my way home and got some purple ones! hehe.

I HOPE that by Friday or Saturday they red pair I ordered last weekend will arrive. I wanted to wear them for the croquet party this weekend... our annual lawn party.
