Re: Izabella Live at The Mystic Theater on 2008-05-31 LMA
Mon, July 14, 2008 - 5:13 AMThe actual date of this is Sunday June 1st at the Battle of the Bands. Also the unknown song is an extended breakdown of Highwire.
I think performing this and the instrumental Eygpt hurt them in this competition (they came in third out of four). The judges were primarily from the Sonoma radio station KRSH and besides the obvious local bias (the top two bands were from Sonoma County), I think they were attracted to a more poppy radio friendly sound, as evidenced by the choice of Frobeck which was very Elton John like. Izabella experimented and stretched it a bit, which is great and what I want to see on most nights, but being more straight forward and sticking to their "hits" would have probably served them better on this night.
