Do the Japanese have any good recipes using pumpkin?
I have 3 of them and I would like to try something new.
Thanks

Re: Japanese have any
Mon, October 24, 2005 - 3:00 PMWhile western halloween pumpkins are edible, they aren't actually the ones that are used for most cooking purposes. The sugar pumpkin (smaller, rounder, less coarse grained) is the one that is ideal for cooking with.
If you're going to use a "jack o'lantern" pumpkin to cook with, its best to stick with baked goods (not pumpkin pie though!) that use sugar or another sweetener. Sugar pumpkins are good for everything else, especially pie.
