      <title>can't crop Tribe photo: is this a javascript problem?</title>
      <link>http://tribes.tribe.net/javascript/thread/f946300d-9522-413f-92b9-729d51624031</link>
      <description>&lt;div&gt;There is a bug that's been around for a couple months now: you can no longer crop your selected user icon. I know very little about Flash (or javascript), but, looking at the source code, it looks like either a javascript or flash problem. And Tribe engineers (if they exist) seem to be ignoring this one).

      <link>http://tribes.tribe.net/javascript/thread/cf4831d9-a078-4cda-ba55-db83a718069d</link>
      <description>&lt;div&gt;I am looking for someone to work on a project with me that includes coding front end using CSS, Javascript, XHTML etc to work seamlessly with dynamically generated content from a .NET architecture.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Please no beginners or novice skills.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The overview of tasks include;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Cutting up PS file and building it using XHTML/HTML/CSS
&lt;br/&gt;Working directly with Designer to adhere to established look and feel
&lt;br/&gt;Optimizing CSS style implementation utilizing global CSS files as well as custom isolated CSS files - whichever works best.
&lt;br/&gt;Making sure front end is rendering .NET content properly and playing nice.
&lt;br/&gt;Some SEO skills would be really great as well.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;please send email to tris@strategybase.com
&lt;br/&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;I usually avoid java - but ive had to use it - im making a calculating order form and its driving me nuts - Ive taken a template code of the web and been playing with it - but im pretty much out of my depth - so im bummbling along a bit blind .
&lt;br/&gt;i've got the form online : http://www.crtdesigns.com.au/form4.html
&lt;br/&gt;i'd like to get the drop down boxes (selectors?)to change the cost boxes (ordinary text boxes) in the quantity side : but if tried a few web tutorials and nothing seems to work ! i tried to write a variable but i think my syntax is all over the shop!
&lt;br/&gt;the code as it is is below :
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;&amp;amp;lt;SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"&gt;&amp;amp;lt;!--- hide from old browsers --- &gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;----------------------------------------------------------------this is the bad code i wrote that does nothing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
&lt;br/&gt;function Change_Selection()
&lt;br/&gt;{
&lt;br/&gt;  var emprice = window.document.form.electricmotor;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;  if(electricmotor.selectedIndex == 0)
&lt;br/&gt;  {
&lt;br/&gt;    window.document.form.varcost1.value = "5500";
&lt;br/&gt;  }
&lt;br/&gt;  if(electricmotor.selectedIndex == 1)
&lt;br/&gt;  {
&lt;br/&gt;    window.document.form.varcost1.value = "6600";
&lt;br/&gt;  }
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;}
&lt;br/&gt;also tried this :
&lt;br/&gt;}
&lt;br/&gt;function how_much(){
&lt;br/&gt;	type = document.form.electricmotor.selectedIndex;
&lt;br/&gt;    much = document.form.electricmotor.options[type].value;
&lt;br/&gt;	documentform.varcost1= [much]
&lt;br/&gt;}
&lt;br/&gt;------------------------------------------------------------------
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;&amp;amp;lt;!-- done hiding from old browsers --&gt;
&lt;br/&gt; + bits of the html (choped down to the key elements ........

      <title>Making a divs max height the height of the browser window</title>
      <link>http://tribes.tribe.net/javascript/thread/64496308-67a6-47ca-911a-9a0fab3bb3e8</link>
      <description>&lt;div&gt;I don't think there's a straight css solution to this. But I could be wrong.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;In a web page, I have a div that I want to have a max-height of 100% -- of the available space. Basically, I want it to fill up the screen vertically, but not leave the screen out the bottom -- so no scroll bars ever appear to scroll the ENTIRE page. However, if the content in that div is more than what vertical height is available, I want scroll bars to appear only on that div (overflow: auto;).
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A good example of what I'm talking about is Google Calendar: calendar.google.com
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Check it out, on say, the Weekly view. A scroll bar DOES appear, but only for that div. You can resize your browser window and the div with the calendar in it will resize accordingly. You never get a normal browser scroll bar....just a scrollbar for that section.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Anyone know how to do this? Links to articles online? I've looked around and couldn't find anything....
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Thanks.&lt;/div&gt;

      <title>javascript assistance...</title>
      <link>http://tribes.tribe.net/javascript/thread/13f28adf-02e6-4451-9b13-83ee2e0596c2</link>
      <description>&lt;div&gt;I was wondering if anyone here knows of a good place to find *up to date* javascript scripts for making short mp3 audio files playback for onmouseover events. Specifically, this script would play short sounds when the little squares are hovered over with the cursor and it should work using the Firefox 1.5, 2.0 and IE6 and 7 browsers.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Additionally, I read about a technique online for incorporating multiple onmouseover events for a specific element and have attempted to implement it as described on the web.  Apparently, the use of a span tag around the separate onmouseover and onmouseout events is a solution but I have a feeling that the audio playback function script I'm using in the head of the page source for the audio playback is not recent enough and as such, the files won't play back if I get the multiple onmouseover events to work anyway.  The examples on the site where I got the script from don't work and the text describes needing some plug-in for Netscape, not Firefox. &amp;amp;lt;shrug&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The first page at http://www.belief-systems.com/ includes several functions at the top of the source in the head portion. The first few were written by someone else and are now my legacy but the audio script was written by someone that uploaded it to a site and I can't get it to work with the existing legacy javascript code for the page.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Any suggestions or tips are much appreciated.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Here's the site link again where the audio playback function can be perused via the page source:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;http://www.belief-systems.com/
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Audio script:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;// Preload and play audio files with event handler (MouseOver sound)
&lt;br/&gt;// designed by JavaScript Archive, (c)1999
&lt;br/&gt;// Get more free javascripts at http://jsarchive.8m.com
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;var aySound = new Array();
&lt;br/&gt;// Below: source for sound files to be preloaded
&lt;br/&gt;aySound[0] = "mp3/CR-78Cabasa.mp3";
&lt;br/&gt;aySound[1] = "mp3/JoustBump.mp3";
&lt;br/&gt;aySound[2] = "mp3/RobotronCoin4.mp3";
&lt;br/&gt;aySound[3] = "mp3/WobbleResUp";
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;// DO NOT edit below this line
&lt;br/&gt;document.write('&amp;amp;lt;BGSOUND ID="auIEContainer"&gt;')
&lt;br/&gt;IE = (navigator.appVersion.indexOf("MSIE")!=-1 &amp;amp;&amp;amp; document.all)? 1:0;
&lt;br/&gt;NS = (navigator.appName=="Netscape" &amp;amp;&amp;amp; navigator.plugins["LiveAudio"])? 1:0;
&lt;br/&gt;ver4 = IE||NS? 1:0;
&lt;br/&gt;onload=auPreload;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;function auPreload() {
&lt;br/&gt;if (!ver4) return;
&lt;br/&gt;if (NS) auEmb = new Layer(0,window);
&lt;br/&gt;else {
&lt;br/&gt;Str = "&amp;amp;lt;DIV ID='auEmb' STYLE='position:absolute;'&gt;&amp;amp;lt;/DIV&gt;";
&lt;br/&gt;document.body.insertAdjacentHTML("BeforeEnd",Str);
&lt;br/&gt;}
&lt;br/&gt;var Str = '';
&lt;br/&gt;for (i=0;i&amp;amp;lt;aySound.length;i++)
&lt;br/&gt;Str += "&amp;amp;lt;EMBED SRC='"+aySound[i]+"' AUTOSTART='FALSE' HIDDEN='TRUE'&gt;"
&lt;br/&gt;if (IE) auEmb.innerHTML = Str;
&lt;br/&gt;else {
&lt;br/&gt;auEmb.document.open();
&lt;br/&gt;auEmb.document.write(Str);
&lt;br/&gt;auEmb.document.close();
&lt;br/&gt;}
&lt;br/&gt;auCon = IE? document.all.auIEContainer:auEmb;
&lt;br/&gt;auCon.control = auCtrl;
&lt;br/&gt;}
&lt;br/&gt;function auCtrl(whSound,play) {
&lt;br/&gt;if (IE) this.src = play? aySound[whSound]:'';
&lt;br/&gt;else eval("this.document.embeds[whSound]." + (play? "play()":"stop()"))
&lt;br/&gt;}
&lt;br/&gt;function playSound(whSound) { if (window.auCon) auCon.control(whSound,true); }
&lt;br/&gt;function stopSound(whSound) { if (window.auCon) auCon.control(whSound,false); }
&lt;br/&gt;//--&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Span tag example from the belief-systems.com source:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;    &amp;amp;lt;td width="11%"&gt;"http://www.belief-systems.com/GrnWaterLeaveSqr.html" onMouseOut="MM_swapImgRestore()" onMouseOver="MM_swapImage('document.Image6','document.Image6','images/busblock2.gif','#926390205966')"&gt; &amp;amp;lt;span onMouseOver="playSound(0)" onMouseOut="stopSound(0)"&gt;&amp;amp;lt;/span&gt;&amp;amp;lt;img name="Image6" border="0" src="images/cblock-off2.gif"&amp;amp;lt;/td&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The span element is withing a div tag that defines this entire area on the page [see the source code of the page for confirmation of this fact].
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Hopefully, there's a script that will get me to approx. 80% compatibilty without having to be so complicated although, I do understand that IE is a craptacular browser for javascript, from what I'm told from web developer friends that I've worked with.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Again, any assistance is welcome&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I have used two different slideshows on my site - (one runs multiple slide-shows on one page)... the codes are little different in places but both use blendtrans, and the problem occurs in the second code script...
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I post some samples of the script around the transition command...

&lt;br/&gt;// do not edit anything below this line
&lt;br/&gt;var t3;
&lt;br/&gt;var ImgIdx3 = 0;
&lt;br/&gt;var PicLen3 = Pic3.length-1;
&lt;br/&gt;function runSlideShow3() {
&lt;br/&gt;if (document.all) {
&lt;br/&gt;document.images.SlideShow3.style.filter="blendTrans(duration=2)";
&lt;br/&gt;document.images.SlideShow3.style.filter="blendTrans(duration=crossFadeDuration3)";
&lt;br/&gt;document.images.SlideShow3.filters.blendTrans.Apply();

&lt;br/&gt;document.images.SlideShow3.src = Pic3[ImgIdx3].src;

&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;My knowledge of javascript is limited to whatever I have picked up - so it is patchy. I am wondering if the problem is related to not pre-loading images? If anybody could give me some pointers with this problem I would be very grateful.
&lt;br/&gt;

      <title>Pausing a script using onMouseOver</title>
      <link>http://tribes.tribe.net/javascript/thread/13c26e55-fc19-4f8a-9499-406dc7815303</link>
      <description>&lt;div&gt;I have a rotating banner script which is very neat and handles 3 linked banners ... but what I want to do is be able to pause the cycle by rolling over another series of images ... www.scabal.net ... (the list of text should stop the slide-show, and secondly it would be super if it stops it in the right place - but just to pause the slideshow would be enough at the moment.) Having used several other scripts, that were quite cumbersome, I would like to stick with the script that I have got and just add to it.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The code is like this...
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;&amp;amp;lt;script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript"&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;	&amp;amp;lt;!-- Hide script from old browsers
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;	adImages1 = new Array("boxes/index/indindex.gif","boxes/index/commrindex.gif",
&lt;br/&gt;"boxes/index/resindex.gif","boxes/index/eduindex.gif","boxes/index/commuindex.gif", "boxes/index/medindex.gif")
&lt;br/&gt;	adImages2 = new Array("boxes/index/jubilee01.jpg","boxes/index/voda01.jpg",
&lt;br/&gt;"boxes/index/trumans01.jpg","boxes/index/chingford01.jpg","boxes/index/reina01.jpg","boxes/index/medical01.jpg")
&lt;br/&gt;	adImages3 = new Array("boxes/index/inditext.gif","boxes/index/commrtext.gif",
&lt;br/&gt;"boxes/index/restext.gif","boxes/index/edutext.gif","boxes/index/commutext.gif","boxes/index/medtext.gif")
&lt;br/&gt;	adURL = new Array("scabalindustrial.html","scabalcommercial02.html",
&lt;br/&gt;"scabalresidential.html","scabaleducation.html","scabalcommunity.html","scabalmedical.html")
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;	thisAd1 = 0
&lt;br/&gt;	thisAd2 = 0
&lt;br/&gt;	thisAd3 = 0
&lt;br/&gt;	imgCt1 = adImages1.length
&lt;br/&gt;	imgCt2 = adImages2.length
&lt;br/&gt;	imgCt3 = adImages3.length
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;	function rotate() {
&lt;br/&gt;		if (document.images) {
&lt;br/&gt;			thisAd1++
&lt;br/&gt;			if (thisAd1 == imgCt1) {
&lt;br/&gt;				thisAd1 = 0
&lt;br/&gt;			}
&lt;br/&gt;			document.adBanner1.src=adImages1[thisAd1]
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;			thisAd2++
&lt;br/&gt;			if (thisAd2 == imgCt2) {
&lt;br/&gt;				thisAd2 = 0
&lt;br/&gt;			}
&lt;br/&gt;			document.adBanner2.src=adImages2[thisAd2]
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;			thisAd3++
&lt;br/&gt;			if (thisAd3 == imgCt3) {
&lt;br/&gt;				thisAd3 = 0
&lt;br/&gt;			}
&lt;br/&gt;			document.adBanner3.src=adImages3[thisAd3]
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;		  	setTimeout("rotate()", 3 * 1000)
&lt;br/&gt;	  	}
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;	}
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;function newLocation() {
&lt;br/&gt;		document.location.href = "http://www.scabal.net/" + adURL[thisAd1]
&lt;br/&gt;		document.location.href = "http://www.scabal.net/" + adURL[thisAd2]
&lt;br/&gt;		document.location.href = "http://www.scabal.net/" + adURL[thisAd3]
&lt;br/&gt;	}
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;	// End hiding script from old browsers --&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;&amp;amp;lt;/script&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Then I have an onload="rotate()" in the body tag... and so on and so on to run the slideshow.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Any ideas would be gratefully received!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;regards

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Hey!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I need a loan calculator built much like this one:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;http://riverview.amiesinteractive.com/page.cfm?pgid=8
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;(except it doesn't need the "select a property" at the top)
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Here is an excel spreadsheet that gives the formulas for the calculator:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;www.awdsf.com/projects/loans.xls
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I need this pretty soon. Please give me a timeline, URLs of your work, and price quote!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;PLEASE PERSONAL MESSAGE ME! Don't just reply to this post...
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Thanks!
&lt;br/&gt;

      <title>Javascript Q</title>
      <link>http://tribes.tribe.net/javascript/thread/5adda196-0aff-4dcb-bfc7-098c8aaa221a</link>
      <description>&lt;div&gt;Hi folks! So I have been working on a client's site and used a standard set of Javascript rollover buttons ... such as can be found *here*
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;http://javascript.internet.com/generators/preload-images.html
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt; for the nav bar. This worked fine so long as there were a maximum of 9 buttons - but the client now wants 11 pages on their site and I am finding that buttons 10 and 11 are not loading the images. I presume this is something to do with the use of double figures for the numbering of the buttons and have googled around for an answer but no luck. Any ideas?
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Site is up at http://www.altaryourreality.com
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Thanks!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;AN.&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;I may have forgotten some of this.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Is it possible to have a JavaScript function that takes the results of a BROWSE control and opens that HTML file in a separate window of a specific Name (for example, Window_File)?

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Okay...
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I have a function that determines whether or not a number is prime. Basically, you give it a number and it checks a big table of known primes and then it checks a few division tricks and then it checks to see if any of the numbers in the prime table divide it.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Of course, if it finds the number in the table, it immediately kicks back a TRUE.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The more tricky the number, the longer it takes to find. The final stages is that it just basically goes through brute force division to determine.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;My table-of-primes is a table that contains the first 10,000 primes. However...
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;There are plenty of web pages and online resources that have long lists of primes.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Using only JavaScript, is there a way I can access some list out there. For example, my first thought was to find a list page and open it in a JS window and parse the code into an array.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;But off the top of my head, I'm not sure if this is possible.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Suggestions?  Ideas?&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;with the transition to xhtml in full force are should we be abandaoning innerHTML and the like for DOM functions (createNode(), createTextNode(), appendChild(), etc.)???
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I say yes. (And this may very well be a consensus within the professional community - i dunno) What say you!?! &lt;/div&gt;

      <link>http://tribes.tribe.net/javascript/thread/2de65e96-a181-43d6-8364-388005ea0ff5</link>
      <description>&lt;div&gt;Sample.html will show you a collection of graphic images produced by the Sample.js graphics functions, which are driven by the base function in Grafix.js. Everything uses this base function. SampleMaths.html and SampleMaths.js use JavaScript to produce a mathematical circle, plot it out into 2D RGB space, and then draw the image. This is another example of using Grafix.js to draw a mathematical result. Very handy!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Any ideas on how to make it faster?
