Psalm 23
King James Version
1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

"thou anointest my head with oil"
There is no doubt that the anointing with oil/fat is due to the fact that oils and fats facilitate the transdermal absorption of psychoactive herbs (similar to the well known flying ointments of witches) that are otherwise toxic and/or nauseating. This is often done on the temples of the head as this is where the skin is very thin.
Exodus 30:23 gives the recipe for anointing oil featuring the infamous "qaneh besem" which some claim is cannabis but is usually translated as "calamus", another psychoactive herb that contains TMA-2 (tri-methoxy-amphetamine).
Anointing is extremely important throughout the Bible, and yet the custom is no longer in use today by orthodox Christians. I wonder why. -

oils in orthodoxy
02/23Well not exactly true, just different oils,
(1) regular olive
(2) special for annointing the sick
(3) oil of Chrismation, used at Easter, that has (very expensive) attar of roses in it and 32 other oils not know presently to be psychoactive.
