Have any of you heard from Jenna? I'm rather concerned.
And, if one of us does come to an event she is at, has there been any consensus as to what to say? I'm not stirring the pot--I am honestly concerned about her, but we should probably come up with a standard something to say. After all, you don't want to be carried out of an event kicking and screaming with fistfulls of hair in your hand but...no fans.
I vend, so I am at events early, often a day early. I am not owed fans, but if I see her before you guys, is there a message, a communal message, to say? I mean, besides, "they want their fans. And they're mad." Should we vendors get a copy of the list of people owed fans and their contact info to give to her if we see her?
Has someone checked to see if she signed up for TF8? Tribal Cafe? She was there last year. If no one has heard from her in this long....this is not a good sign, and I'm honestly very worried about her. But also, from a business perspective, this is not good either.

Re: Is there a game plan?
Thu, January 31, 2008 - 4:42 PMI can't see how she would be allowed at TF8 as she also took Kajira's money and ran. I bet she's not going to surface for awhile and probably feels just about as horrible as one can. But can't dig herself out of the hole she's put herself in.

Re: Is there a game plan?
Thu, January 31, 2008 - 5:32 PMThere were some vague references that she moved and didn't tell people (friends) so to the best of my knowledge she is completely MIA - I would love my fans but am not counting on seeing them - or my money - again. I guess I think of it kind of like Social Security ... -

Re: Is there a game plan?
Fri, February 1, 2008 - 8:06 AMBut if we DO see her, if one of us sees her, do we have a scripted response on what to say for everyone's maximum benefit? -

Re: Is there a game plan?
Fri, February 1, 2008 - 8:29 AMIt looks like Persian Gypsy got a list of some of the people owed
tribes.tribe.net/jhip/thre...1a336b69c3
maybe talk to her.

Re: Is there a game plan?
Fri, February 1, 2008 - 9:14 AMWell, my partner & I have written it off as a loss, have licked our wounds & moved on.
-
Re: Is there a game plan?
Fri, February 1, 2008 - 1:45 PMYes she did up and move without telling anyone where she was going or even that she was leaving at all, this has been confirmed and can be taken as truth. I know she moved out here from Atlanta so my guess would be she moved back there, but I haven't seen hide nor hair of her since Tribal Cafe in August 2007 and I really don't think she's even in California any longer...
If someone does see her though, the best thing to do is politely ask if she's okay and if you can get her current contact info (if you're owed fans or a refund) and that you would like to keep in touch so that your business transaction can be resolved at some point. If you're not owed fans or money then just ask if she's okay but I doubt, even if you ask nice, that she would give you her contact info because she'll know you're going to give it to the people that are owed fans/money. I really doubt that she'll ever show her face at any bellydance event on the west coast again though, too many people burned and too many people gave up on her, even me. I wouldn't want to be her and then walk into say Tribal Fusion Faire and have people accost me on behalf of other dancers that were wronged...
All I'm saying is, if you see her be carefull with how you approach her and what you say, yes those that got burned have every right to be mad but you certainly don't want her calling the cops on you or having you booted out of an event because you got up in her face... -

Re: Is there a game plan?
Fri, February 1, 2008 - 3:53 PMCalling the police is not a bad idea, actually. If the police respond, then they will get everyone's names, addresses and telephone numbers for the police report, then you could get a copy of the police report. That is pretty much the only surefire way to get her current contact information at this point. -

Re: Is there a game plan?
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 12:29 PMI wanted to clarify that I do not advocate physically attacking Jenna so that she will call the police. To the contrary, I am suggesting than people who are so terribly upset about their fan orders should instead call the police themselves, and they should let the police do their job, and they should NOT physically attack Jenna. -

Re: Is there a game plan?
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 1:04 PMOkay, guys....I got an e-mail from someone who wishes to be totally anonymous, and I understand why. They're not in contact with Jenna-this was a "by the way, I ran into..." e-mail.
Yes, Jenna has moved but she is still in the LA area. She's physically okay (phew!). The person was gracious enough to relay that "you know people are wanting their fans now, yes?" and there was acknowledgement of "yes, I am aware" and she was "working on it." So there is hope.
The e-mail didn't go beyond that, and I have the feeling the conversation didn't, either.
Again, I won't divulge whom upon their request.
And as to Kathryn, she's absolutely right--NONONONO violence. Not only b/c it's mean, but also b/c you don't want to get kicked out of an event as well. -

Re: Is there a game plan?
Sun, February 17, 2008 - 7:36 PMIt would be great if several of you vendors could carry a list with you, at the very least if it's brought up she'll know each of you are trying to help eveyone out, as for "working" on it, i paid for fans that she listed as having in stock, they were extras she had ordred and i never saw them.
I understand she had problems financially, no phone no internet and i've tried to be very understanding but the saying is "where there's a will there's a way" friends are always willing to help friends, someone could have allowed her to use their computers, at the very least all we wanted was for her to keep us updated on what was going on and the reasons for the delays and i'm pretty sure that in just about every city bus lines everywhere go to libraries and even if you can't print invoices out, you can look at them and write them down, mail outs....post office picks up at your door now days, they'll even deliver their boxes to you free, and the boxes are free so i just don't think there's any more excuses to use. Everyone who knows me knows i'm understanding and patient to a fault but this is just ridicioulus. Sorry, just my opinion

Re: Is there a game plan?
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 6:13 AMI don't think anyone advocated violence; I think Kathryn's idea is perfect. I'm in Maine, so it's not gonna happen, but if I could get an official address (like from a police report) then I'd have my lawyer on the case-like with a subpoena. If I thought that he would cost less than my 98$.
But I might do it anyway. Aside from being annoyed, I also am running a business and don't like losing money frivolously. -

a game plan?
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 5:23 PMBTW Rom,
"Has someone checked to see if she signed up for Tribal Cafe? She was there last year."
Tribal Cafe is no more. it is an officially "retired" event.
And there won't be a Tribal Throwdown this March either - but 2009 they say "yes"
I think your idea of getting a list of those owed it a very effective tool to use.
Also, that Atlanta connection just might point to a possible resurfacing at TribalCon.
Maybe vending under an alternate business name -

Re: a game plan?
Wed, February 6, 2008 - 12:12 PMActually Teighlor, I was just guessing that she went back to Atlanta because that's where she originally came from. Rom already got it confirmed for us above that she is still in CA, at least she was still here recently, whos to say now? -

Re: a game plan?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 6:45 AMwell now this is interesting. I left a post the other day and this morning, early, I see Jenn was on Tribe and now my post has disappeared. So apparently she is coming on and reading these messages and still she doesnt even have enough respect to leave a message to anyone???? -
-
a game plan - HELLO R U there?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 9:39 AMHm....
"left a post the other day and this morning, early, I see Jenn was on Tribe and now my post has disappeared. So apparently she is coming on and reading these messages and still she doesnt even have enough respect to leave a message to anyone?"
well, clearly she's "moderating" and editing.
one can only hope she's digesting the kindness many have expressed on this tribe in being tolerant and patient - and understanding beyond reason.
Jenn, hope you "surface" soon and respect all these people's concerns. -

Re: a game plan - HELLO R U there?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 10:07 AMYou know if I were her, I'm not sure if I'd post, either...the backlash would be incredible, esp. if your post was deleted without a word. Maybe this is a good sign that she now has internet access and can get the addresses from PayPal and will start getting the fans out? I don't know at this point if a public "mea culpa" would alleviate anything, but getting fans arriving in your mailboxes would be a good resolution. It may be, and probably is, too late to recover in terms of a business (unhappy people tell 7, happy only 3), but resolving issues with past customers would be a good way to start repairing bridges so the business COULD come back. Eventually. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: a game plan - HELLO R U there?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 4:19 PMUgh - well that is something of an issue with me. I would hope that she would contact us before mailing - I need to have personal contact because I have moved and the post office is no longer forwarding my mail.

Re: Is there a game plan?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 8:01 PMmy post was about how I now percieve her as a criminal! To rip off so many and not one email or one word for nothing. So many of you are so kind about the possibilities of why she hasnt taken care of this issue. I work hard for my money and no one deserves to be ripped off like this! To see her online this morning is like complete disrespect! She is a complete criminal. so now lets see her delete this! -

Re: Is there a game plan?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 9:06 PMHey...how do you see how recently someone was online, Somatradevi? I can only find when they last updated their profile...where does it say when they last logged on? I moderate a "safe haven" tribe for some of us who have been harassed by "navel gazers" and that could be totally useful..if only I could find it. -

Re: Is there a game plan?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 9:09 PMI think maybe she just saw that the little orange ball was lit up?
-
Re: Is there a game plan?
Fri, March 21, 2008 - 7:20 PMsorry this may be off topic but i have to ask what is a "navel grazer"? -
-
Re: Is there a game plan?
Fri, March 21, 2008 - 7:26 PMNavel Gazer, not Navel Grazer....however that thought is disturbing too....."Navel Gazer" Someone who shows up, or becomes obsessed with bellydancers and not for the cultural aspect of it. -
-
Re: Is there a game plan?
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 10:59 PMahh I see. disturbing indeed
-
Re: Is there a game plan?
Sun, March 23, 2008 - 8:15 AMThank you for clarifying that. Living next to Berkeley, California, I had assumed a Navel Gazer was a drug-intoxicated zoner who contemplated their own navel. -

Re: Is there a game plan?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 10:23 PMThing is, if you want, you can easily set your profile to *not* show online status. -
-
Re: Is there a game plan?
Fri, February 22, 2008 - 5:34 PMbut she also deleted a post here - so she had to have been on tribe to do that -
-
Re: Is there a game plan?
Fri, February 22, 2008 - 7:23 PMOf course!
I was just telling Rom about how easy it is to hide your online status.
Jenna could be on right now, if she got her light changed.
