has anyone heard a single word from jenna yet? I am now on month 5 of waiting for her to either deliver the product I purchased in early March, or refund my money. Not one single response to my emails. I've never had to chase someone for a refund before. everyone says she's honest and I believe that, but there is some serious integrity issues being brought up here. does anyone have a phone # so I can finally resolve this.

: ) thanks

    Hey!

I do think I have her business card somewhere at home, and that includes her phone number. Please send me a PM as reminder and I will let you know.

As far as I know her main issue was actually internet access so e-mails might not be the best way to contact her at this point. I think a simple conversation with her can figure this out. I would be upset also if that was my case but again, at least I am sure she will be more than happy to address your concerns via phone.

Hope everything can be solved in a civilized way and satisfying for both ends. =)

yes, I had an ebay auction that never panned out after paying and paypal gave me my money back. I am sure they will and if many request it, then for sure they will. personally, I am going to hold out for a little longer. Now that I live in another state, I still have so many dance friends down that see her alot. I am waiting for word now.

actually before you lodge an official complaint to the government or whatever, make sure you try harder because maybe something happened to Jen and lodging an official complaint may ruin her life in some ways. Hold on, I will call around

Jenna was without transportation or internet, I know, and I know I have her number SOMEwhere here. Let me see what I can find. I've met her a number of times and she has always been so professional and just lovely, and I know, as someone said, if she HAD seen these posts she would have posted with an honest explanation and made everything right, or as right as she could with what was within her control.

It's so sad that someting is keeping Jenna from getting the fans out to the buyers. When I saw the fans you have I knew I wanted to buy some. I saw some fans at the Utah Belly Dance Festival on Saturday, but they didn't look as good as Jenna's. And they didn't have the colors I wanted anyway. I don't remember who was selling them, though.

Jenna's are definitely top quality. The spines are stronger and slide more smoothly, the fabric floats and drapes better, and the colors are fantastic. I live in the Bay area and saw fanveils for the first time at Tribal Fest. I plan to buy a set directly from Jenna at the next event where I see her vending. Under the circumstances I am reluctant to place an order but I would happily pay the money if I could leave the transaction carrying the fans in my hands. :-)

thanx Rom, I also know Jen and she is sweet, as annoyed as I am about the communication thing, I was kinda beginning to think something happen. I had her number but then I moved 2 times in the last 3 months so I cant even find my head right now. Also, my friend just talked to her at tribal cafe, I am waiting to hear from him.

I'm with you, hold out before lodging a formal complaint, she's a very sweet & professional woman, her product is fabulous. I have to believe something has happened in her life for her to not fill orders. I just talked to her back in July when I ordered mine. I realize everyone is getting frustrated, but perosnally I can hold out to see what's up first.

I hear what everyone is saying. And i am not going to file a complaint. BUT if I were running a business and something happened to me or a loved one that required immediate assistance. I would give someone I trusted my tribe user name and password and have someone post as me with what was going on and why I was unable to respond to the personal emails and posts on tribe.

If I had no internet or transportation and ran a business, I would get that taken care of ASAP. Taxi, bus, metro, friends car, bike, a library has internet, granted it isn't the best but it works.

I do not know what is going on with Jenna, but i do hope she is ok and it is not serious. I am just patiently waiting for my fans, a response or a refund.

Here's the trick with being patient, though. PayPal allows you 45 days from payment to dispute a payment. If you paid by credit card, you generally have 90 days from payment to initiate a dispute (details vary by card and issuer). I'm nearing my 45 day mark, when I was told my product would be sent within 48 hours. I can understand delays, but this is really getting ridiculous. I haven't made up my mind yet, but I'm tempted to start the PayPal dispute, because I know that it is more pleasant for those involved (Jenna, PayPal, and myself) than having my card issuer issue a chargeback.

I'm all about helping out a fellow dancer. But if she continues to have this level of issues to where she can't fulfill an in-stock order within a month, she probably shouldn't be selling online.

Thanks for letting me know about the 45 day policy as I ordered in stock fans in way early July. If I want to file a claim I better do it soon.

              Ditto. Good to know.

It does suck that's she's having trouble and I think a lot of us are sympathetic... but to let things go this long is just bad business.

I'm not accusing anyone of anything, and truly believe that Jenna is not screwing anybody intentionally. I have no idea what her situation is and wish her the best with it. But seriously, if it were some regular old joe blow vendor that we were having trouble with we'd have rolled heads long ago.

Hi everyone, for while I was patient but after all these months with no response or communication, I am not going to be sympathetic anymore. We all work really hard for our money and to have someone take it and never give us what we paid for is just wrong. I am going to file a complaint evn though it's too late for paypal to refund me. I hope this will help save others from losing their hard earned money as we have.

Hello everyone, I talked with Jenna this weekend at Tribal Cafe and I would hope you all could be a little more patient with her, she's a good friend of mine and she will be getting everyone taken care of.

She has basically no income right now (no details will be disclosed), no transportation to ship anything, she has absolutely no internet access, her cell phone has been turned off because she couldn't pay the bill and is about to lose the phone # and be canceled by her company permanently, she hasn't had a regular phone for some time because no money to pay the bill, electricity being kept on is questionable too. She doesn't have the money to go to the mall and use their internet access and they don't allow access to tribe.net or gmail accounts anyway, same thing with access at the library - even though it's free they don't allow access to tribe.net or gmail accounts.

She's just trying to get through this very difficult time right now and hasn't forgot anyone, she is NOT going to take anyone's money and run and she is NOT going to just ignore you, she cannot communicate with anyone except for face to face conversations basically. Can anyone not just give her a break? She's trying really hard to get everything squared away but filing complaints and trying to have law enforcement or the government get involved is certainly not going to help her get your order to you any faster. That would just be adding insult to injury.

I completely understand everyone's frustration because I've been burned, for real, several times by unethical sellers, but Jenna is NOT one of those kinds of people. I know it's hard, but just try to take a deep breath and put yourself in her shoes for a moment, say a prayer for her that she makes it through this ordeal.....

Sorry if my post upsets anyone but I just had to say all this.

Five months, Jacqui?! That's ridiculous. For five months, Jenna has not been able to either send the veils to this dancer or refund her money?? I can't believe that. I'm really shocked that Jenna would let this happen. I suppose I have been exceedingly fortunate, in that I've never had anything way-lay me for as long as it seems Jenna has been, so pardon me that I have trouble understanding this. Maybe the delay with Jacqui's fanveils is just an accident, an oversight, maybe a missed e-mail or something...I want to give Jenna the benefit of the doubt...

...but I'm wondering if I'm going to end up the same. (For the record, I ordered and paid for my veils before the 7/13 cut-off date, when Jenna had advertised here that she would be taking another batch of orders to be shipped in August.)

Shalah, thanks a lot for answering some of our concerns (it helps to have any scraps of information we can receive), and please pardon me if I sound heartless--I am trying to understand. I would like to respond with some concerns that maybe you can clear up for me (and others as well)...

She has no income? What of the profit she's making off the fanveils we're all ordering (she sincerely has no other form of income, and hasn't for a half-year?)? I would suppose it's at least a 50%-75% mark-up on the fanveils, though I could easily be wrong. I'm guessing that must not be enough to cut it, for whatever circumstances she's in. I do wish her luck with her financial situation; certainly this confusion with the fanveils cannot be helping her.

But I'm really having trouble understanding why Jenna is having issues sending out product. We paid for the delivery when we paid for the veils, so I was under the impression that the S&H is covered, that she's not paying out-of-pocket for this. We've already paid for both the product and the delivery. She hasn't any friend who will drive her to UPS/post office/wherever to ship the veils we've paid for well in advance? Even if she only sent a couple a week, that'd still be progress over this. Maybe she is doing just that, for all I know.

Which brings me to my next concern: communication. If she could throw us but one scrap of information, it would help to ease our concerns. She doesn't have a single friend whose internet she could "borrow" to check her e-mails, if she can't do that at the library? Even if she could sign on for a moment through a friend's computer, just to update her Tribe page with news, that would be at least something to reassure us that we have not been forgotten.

Unfortunately, I have had to open a dispute through Paypal because of the narrow window in which Paypal will issue a refund (like another poster, I don't want to go through the hastle of the credit card company issuing a refund, though I would reconsider if I received some word from her). If she doesn't respond to the dispute by September 6th, then it will escalate to a claim and Paypal will become involved in the refund process. I really don't want to do that to her, but I have to protect my own investment, and I hope she would understand that. I know you say she's a wonderful person, but never having met her myself, I can't simply hope that she'll fulfill my order. I would never demand her to send me the merchandise with the condition that I will pay her upon receipt, then not answer any of her e-mails for a month, and fail to pay by the promised time. I don't understand why she would have opened the gates for a new flood of orders in July if she knew she wouldn't be able to deliver in August as promised. I'm sorry that she's having difficulties, but this is really poor business practice, and as pointed out above, this would not have been tolerated from any other random vendor.

I know none of us want to see her fail and suffer, none of us want to make things harder on her, but she has to respect our finances and expectations as well. Customer service can make or break a business; word-of-mouth is not to be discredited. I really want to give her rave reviews and I'm hoping she comes through.

I would feel better if I knew what she was doing to address our concerns. Even if you had to pass along her words to us, that would be enough, but I want a message, not just a reassurance that she's a good person.

Any help you can give in passing along messages to her and to us is VERY much appreciated, Shalah.

Here's a proposed solution--I know Jenna would NEVER run off with your money, and she's trying hard, I know, so since we can't e-mail or call her, Shahlah, is it possible that those concerned could send her written communication?

You see, Paypal houses addresses and all. If you can't get onto PayPal, you can't get your buyer's address. So, maybe if you send communication to her in writing with what you bought and the address to ship it to, she can get it right out to you. Just an idea.

Hi Everyone, I checked my paypal order from Jenna and I was actually billed January 17th, even more then the 5 months I thought I had been waiting. In all this time I have sent scores of emails....her having no money doesnt give her permission to tke mine and keep it. I am all about the sisterhood we have in our glorious dancing world, and dont want to file complaints...but letting this go and allowing her to just silently keep my money isnt an option either. there are many modes of free communication. if she can get to Tribal Cafe she can get to a library for an hour to refund my money and offer an explanation to paying customers.

            enough said.

            all love!!

Persian gypsy said all the things I was wondering about. you know, I work hard as single mother and I try to make all the events I can and splurge on buying things. but you know, if Jenna is so broke with no job, why is she at tribal cafe? How did she afford that? And the whole no job for 1/2 year, I mean really, the fans are paid for and almost every internet cafe DOES get myspace and tribe.net. saying she cant go to a cafe and sign on is ridiculous! If the 'mall' internet is limited then that would be rare. she should have kept her 'business money' seperate from her living money and that would have guaranteed the shipment of product. she should get a simple job and with this fan business on top of it, she should be doing fine! There are tons of jobs in so cali so whats really going on???

Tribal Cafe, huh? That dang ol' Tribal Cafe...Same weekend as the Utah Belly dance festival. So no Jenna for us here in Utah. Someone was selling a very small amount of fans along with their other BD stuff in Utah, but they weren't as nice as Jenna's and there were none of the colors I want.

I love jenna and have never had problems with her in the past but i too am waiting for a pair of fans to be shipped she had in stock. I have been in some bad financial situations myself so i can understand the troubles she may be having but jenna is a well liked person so i can't believe she doesn't have any friends that will bring her over to their house an let her have use of their computer for an evening and perhaps another friend to take her to the post office, actually, if a friend with a computer lets her print out shipping labels she doesn't even have to go to the post office, she can schedule a pickup anywhere, home, work even a friends home.
Thanks for the address idea rom, i will see if i can find it and mail a letter to her with my address etc.
If any of jennas local friends are reading this please show her what a true friend is and help her out, if i lived close to her i'd help her.

I'm so sorry everyone that this is happening, as much as I hate to see people saying things about filing complaints and all that, because Jenna is my friend, I can also understand why people would want to do that too. Believe me, if I lived near Jenna I would be over there helping her get this straightened out, but living 6 hours away from her doesn't allow for that. I honestly don't know all the details surrounding the problems and I'm sorry that I don't have all the answers for everyone on why things are happening the way they're happening, I just know that she's trying to get things taken care of. I do know that part of the problem is with the supplier of the fans, which is located in China, I'm sure you all can imagine the problems that language and cultural barriers can cause, not that that's an excuse, but just something additional to think about. I know that everyone will do what they feel they need to do to protect themselves, I've had to make those kinds of decisions too and it's never fun. I've been trying to get in touch with Jenna myself over the last few days but because of what I've already stated that's pretty difficult.

Yes, there may be good reasons why it is impossible for her to fulfill the fan orders.

No, she should not keep the money of people who paid for fans if it is impossible for her to fulfill the fan orders. She should refund their money back to them. If she has spent their money on her own living/business expenses, that was wrong.

But this goes so far beyond me personally. I ordered in the first week of March. I have recieved neither fans nor refund.I'm sponsoring a big workshop this weekend with lots of dancers from New England and Canada. And 2 of NE's major vendors. Had the fans arrived, and I (and/or another dancer who also ordered them and had a similar experience) then I would have performed with them. And, very likley, a vendor would have asked about them. And I might have honeslty said that I was happy with the service, and the quality, and would they like a referral? A clear win-win for everyone.

Instead, I have neither fan nor satisfaction. And, if asked if I know anything about fan veils or jhip designs, by honest answer will be yes, don't go there. I have an obligation to my friends (other dancers and vendors), too.

On all levels, it's a lousy way to run a business.

What irony that last year's Tribal Fest was the first place I ever saw Jenna's fanveils. I even posted the video on youtube (with Jenna's permission of course) of Jenna dancing with them at Tribal Fest. www.youtube.com/watch I have been spooked from ordering any, but if I ever go to another event where she is selling a table full of them and I can leave with the fans in my hot little hands, I will definitely buy some from her.

Thanks to both Shahlah and Sameerah, kind ladies...any help you can provide in clearing this up will be appreciated by both Jenna AND her customers, I'm sure. The clock is ticking and she's running out of time before I have to escalate my dispute into a claim on Paypal (Sept.6th). :( I don't want her to get in trouble for this, but I will have either the veils or a refund. (I would be much happier with the veils, so I can help her business grow by showing them off!)

At this point, I'm really worried about Jenna... I don't have any fans on order and I don't know her, but I *really* hope that someone who lives near her is able to contact her, go to her house or see her at a class or something. I can't imagine the shame that must go along with having such a large & public business catastrophe, particularly for someone like her who I do believe has integrity & pride. If it were me, I would have had a breakdown long ago... Will someone *please* physically check on her??

I have a pair of the 1.5 black to reds, if anyone needs to borrow them for an upcoming show and they don't have their fans in hand yet. I'll gladly loan you mine (brand new, so just return 'em in good shape!) so you can still have the fan-dom. Hopefully this may help someone out a bit--I'm sure Jenna will set this all straight.
