Jim,

Just a couple a questions pour vous:

1. When and how can I buy my set of the Boz Zills?

2. What was that piece of music you were playing during today's master class? It was the piece that we did that little 4-part combination that ended with the tick-tock-tick, hip-bone circle, internal omi (a.k.a. roll) that I was having problems with? I'd love to have that entire piece of music, but I guess it would help if I knew the name of the track and the artist.

Merci mucho!

(PS) LOVED the workshops this weekend! Hope you'll be coming back to Phoenix again soon!!

    Sashaaaaaaaah!

1 - When = Not sure yet. Hoping for end of August or beginning to Mid Sept. Harry says he'll be working on them after Ya Halla Y'all. The first few steps are already done. How = I'll post here, and try to get them up on www.JimBozShwag.com asap. Course, I have to get the site back up too -- one of the things on the ToDo list now that I'm home for a few weeks. ;)

2 - That was the Taqsim Beledy from Ya Bahaia. I think Naj has it, or you can get it from Bahaia at www.Bahaia.com.

GREAT working with you. ANd as always, great hanging out with you. Hope we can do more that involves alchy-hol. ;)
It has been strongly requested that I bring my Certification program to Phoenix. Perhaps January?

You have a certification program? What does it entail? Costs? Levels? Books or other accessory stuff involved?

Okay, I updated the Certification information on www.JimBozSchoolOfDance.com

This is a program I have in my local school, but I'm starting to offer outside since people have been asking for it.

It's more of a study program rather than a "THIS IS HOW I DO IT AND YOU SHALL DO IT ONLY THE WAY I DO IT" Program. It involves not only being able to complete movements, but lists of music, rhythms, people, concepts and influences that I feel people should know to be a professional in the industry.

It's a 5 part program. By the end, you will be able to do everything that I do, and hopefully better.

Okay, here's the copy/paste from the website about the Level 1 requirements:

            Level #1 - FOUNDATIONS

Description: Certificants understand the difference between floor/skeletal motivated movements & muscle motivated movements. Certificants should have no damaging posture issues and understand basic arm positions. Can complete 3-5part combinations with appropriate emoting in face and body. Understanding of basic rhythms: Saidi, Masmoudi Saugheer, Maqsoum, Masmoudi Kabir, Chiftitelli, Ayoob, basic textures. Should be able to answer questions such as “What is ‘belly dance’”? “What are you goals in BD?” “Isn’t that like stripping?” Certificants must maintain a dance journal.

Unfortunately, we set up the Ft Walton Beach gig before I was taking the Certification out of my local zip code.
Maybe DJ will have me back...I mean, it HAS been sold out since like Feb or March.

Maybe we could talk about taking it to Alabama sometime. ;)

Harry is going to finish them when he gets back from Ya Halla Y'all.
Still waiting for the quote from the people who make the velvet zil bags with the gold hot flash scarab on them. And need to get the quote from the people who do the inserts. Also haven't rec'd the 144 yards of 3/4" elastic! LOL

                      Don't worry. I'll announce them here. :)

I'm soooooo excited I can barely stand it!
                      mmm...zils

    Boz Zils coming soon.
Harry just did the 'test' on them today.
    He said they looked incredible.

Have the elastic (3/4"), the bags and the inserts on order!

    Stay tuned.

    1 month?

Yee-hah! One more addiction to fulfill ... (one can never have too many zils)

        >>(one can never have too many zils)

        I agree!
I love having different sets for...umm...different sets! (of music, that is)
Different venues need different sounds. Live bands need different tonal ranges.

Granted my 'pro' cymbals are as compatible with as many venues as I think are possible, I always recommend having a selection at your disposal.

They also have their own action and react differently to playing, temperature, etc.

    Got the Silver ones done.
The bronze ones are on their way.
Extra wide elastic is sitting in rolls next to me.
    Inserts are being printed.
Finger cymbal bags are unfortunately a month away.

HOWEVER - Going to start pre-sales soon. Everything will start shipping in about 10days, with the cymbal bag to arrive later.

    $55 pre-sales price.

Three Bronze -- One German Silver -- Tonality -- Variation -- And Incredible Artwork! It's the difference that Jim Boz and Harry Saroyan bring you - the ultimate in statement in Tone, Texture and Presentation!

Coupling decades of experience by Master Craftsman Harry Saroyan with the dance and music experience of Jim Boz, these cymbals represent over 3 years of painstaking research, design, testing and production.

With a background in music theory, sound design and studio engineering, Jim's approach to the use of finger cymbals in Middle Eastern dance performance focuses on musicality and tonal variations within rhythmic patterning. After experimenting with a variety of products available, Jim turned to Harry Saroyan to meet his needs in tonality, action and design in custom finger cymbals.

Harry Saroyan's contributions to the Middle Eastern arts has made him one of the most influential men in the Belly Dance world. A master craftsman and a recording artist, he brings the dancers the ultimate in sound and selection with his exquisite line of finger cymbals and memorable recordings. Saroyan Mastercrafts is in its fourth decade of providing the finest dance accessories and Finger Cymbals available.

The "Flaming Scarab" artwork motif was designed by Skellramics. Since 1990, Skellramics has been producing an unending chain of innovative and adventurous ceramics with a high level of craftsmanship and an off-kilter sense of humor.

The set is not your typical choice in metals. The Jim Boz Signature finger cymbals are 3 Bronze and one German Silver intentionally. The set is ONLY offered in this combination.

Playing a different set of cymbals in each hand offers a tonal variation within rhythmic patterns. This set is designed so that the German Silver cymbal is played on the tthumb of the dominant hand, the “dum” hand. The slight dissonance created on this hand can be controlled by using the 1st & 3rd fingers gently muting or releasing the cymbal attached to the finger.

This special price is the Pre-Sales price. This set of finger cymbals includes 3/4" elastic, informational insert and a special custom designed finger cymbal pouch. This pre-sales offer will ship your cymbals, the elastic and the inserts -- with the pouch to follow in approximately 6 weeks.

These Cymbals, although made by Harry Saroyan, are avaible ONLY thru JimBozShwag.com and Jim Boz at festivals and classes
