Playing Skills

Does anybody feel that when going back from the jamming tree that your skills get way better? Does anybody feel they can play much better. I got over some bad habits myself, and I feel like I have more control now. Does anybody feel the same about yourself?

    I wouldn't know.. I haven't been able to play! I played waay to much at JT and my lips got sore. So I took a break last week... and then I tried to play again on saturday, but apparently one of my mouthpieces must have got some poison oak or something on it, because my lips got all sore and chaffed again, just from like 20-30min of playing. So I'm letting my lips heal up again, and then I'll change the mouthpieces before I try to play again!

      Dang, Ben... that sucks!

      While you've been healing, I just tonight managed to finally figure out toots on the inhalation!

      <neener-neener, neeeeeeeener>

      To answer the original question, yes... I feel like a totally different player than I was two weeks ago. Simply being around other didge players, hearing them play, and speaking with others about playing technique and theory really opened up my mind to better comprehend rhythms and breathing patterns... and I can actually perform them!

      I only hope I can ride this wave of creativity and energy for several weeks, if not months. JT is exactly what I needed, and I am absolutely thrilled I attended... between the knowledge I gained and the fantastic folks I met, the experience was priceless.

        I think the lips are nearly back to "normal". And I should be getting my new didge in any day now. Talk about good timing! I can't wait to start practicing on the new didge! :)
