Hi there:

I'm a brand new member of tribe (have been surfing/lurking for a bit and enjoying conversations here and in other psychology forums), and wanted to introduce myself -- and, in completely forward way, share an invitation to another conversation.

I'm an imaginer and frivolateur, with a Ph.D. from Pacifica Graduate Institute in myth studies and psychology and a deep commitment to the point of pointlessness. (A happy existentialist, perhaps?) I'm the founding fomenter of an effort called The Imaginal Institute -- we do gatherings, online learning, and soon will be leaping fearlessly into the world of publishing, all with the idea that if we can find ways to strengthen, support, and celebrate imagination, we might just have a shot at changing the world. (And, as a close second goal, have big fun as we do so.)

I'm delighted to be here, and to see that there are conversations about memories, dreams, and reflections that are this vibrant.

I also wanted to invite anyone who might be interested to a free online conversation that we're hosting about the work and contexts of James Hillman. He's being celebrated at a gathering in Pittsburgh in June and with a book of essays by some fabulous scholars/long time buddies about the impacts of his ideas on their own work. Stan Marlan, who is a fabulous Jungian analyst in Pittsburgh is hosting the event and editing the book. To support both of these efforts, the Imaginal Institute is hosting this conversation to play with some of these ideas (and some of the scholars who have contributed to the book).

It starts on February 1 and runs for seven weeks, as a forum. If you're interested, please join us! I think it's going to be intriguing, and is a chance to mind-dance with some really interesting folks in the field.

You can find out more information at www.imaginalinstitute.com/hillm...on.htm

Best,
Leigh
