My challenge to just doing things is ...figuring out what I want to do. Once I figure it out I am great at just doing it! It's figuring it out that gets me. Or not wanting to do it that one gets me too. Erg. Or not knowing how to do what I need to do. Yeah that one gets me alot with government bureaucracy. Like I need to apply for medi-cal. I need to, I have been off my medicine for months and my poor body is falling the heck apart...and I just have this block because the paperwork and bureaucracy overwhelm me.
so what is your just do it challenge? what keeps you from doing the things you need to do and grabbing the dreams you want?

Tue, May 6, 2008 - 3:47 PMThe blocks usually depend on the area of challenge. Blocks are very intelligent shapeshifters, and find a way to get in the way so promptly that you're convinced they've not just always been there, but also are part of the process. Don't be fooled--They're not!
Right now I'm using the vocal training and the huge stress that my marital status change is causing me to postpone and delay studying German. -

Tue, May 6, 2008 - 4:18 PMwhy is studying german important? Does remembering why something is important help? -

Re: My just do it challange
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 2:46 AMStudying German is important for many reasons. Actually, I've seen books in print and an infinity of articles published everywhere defending the importance of a foreign language. But FOR ME, it's important because speaking the language you're singing in makes the performance more honest, as Ms Norman says. Also, because I've always wanted to.
No, remembering why something is important doesn't help. You just decide it is, and go for it. That's how it works for ppl who have achieved something in this life, including all my heroes and myself. -

Wed, May 7, 2008 - 8:49 AMOvercoming Burn Out.
I am just doing it, dammit, but it feels like it is taking FOREVER. I've had to make sacrifices and after a while burn out sets in. I just want to be finished with my degree, so I can move on with my life and plans. I just really need a break and time with friends that I haven't seen for 8 months, and some exercise. Those things will make me feel better, but I've got to get through the rest of this week. Finals Week. :o( -

Wed, May 7, 2008 - 9:26 AMOh yeah. But you know there will always be times like these when we're overwhelmed. But keep swimming. You'll get to the shore! -

Re: My just do it challange
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 9:37 AMMy just do it challenge is that when I make up my mind I want to do something, I want it done yesterday. I have no patience whatsoever. I push and push and many times am my own worst enemy, because some things do take time. -

Re: My just do it challange
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 2:23 PMOh, yeah. But you just have to learn to take one thing at a time. It takes practice, effort and intelligence, but you learn to do it, eventually.

Wed, May 7, 2008 - 11:41 AMoh yeah totally! The longer the thing takes the harder it is to just keep doing it.
Good luck with getting through your finals and then having time to rest and play!

Re: My just do it challange
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 11:39 AMThat is totally cool. I always wondered about people who sang in a language they didn't speak and how that worked.
I think for me remembering why(or figuring out why) something is important to me is a key to getting me to do it.
