The JWAAD Foundation weekend seems like a lifetime away!! Hope to catch up with you all very soon. How is everyone? Trust you are all healthy, happy and oozing womanly charms
;-)

I do intend to write an article for Mosaic on the experience we all shared at JWAAD, I just have to get a law passed to add another 10 hours to each day!! Feel free to give me some juicy gossip for inclusion in said article.

Take Care.

Hi Adele and everyone else -
really pleased that someone has taken the intiative with this as it would be great to keep in touch/share experiences/seek advice.
    Fabulous Adele for doing this!
Excellent that you are going to write an article and I'll it give some thought and see if I come up with anything which I think you might think is worth including!
    Cheers and happy shimmies,
    Jessica x

We have just set up a local belly dance community group "SHIMMY" . We had a meeting today and discussed standards and teaching in our area. It was of concern to teachers and other women that everyone woman and her dog appears to be seeting up classes here at the moment! We are thinking about reviewing all the local classes for our newsletter. We need somekind of checklist...room, size of class, style, health form, warmup....anyone got/done anything like this?

I've got a pretty good template of a health check form. If anyone needs it drop me an email loveday.bellydance@googlemail.com. x

I don't know if my post is relevant or not but take care if you do this!

I think some teachers may consider this as 'spying' on their class if you go unannounced. My thoughts for what they're worth :-) is contact the local teachers and get them involved, explain what you are planning, what criteria is being reviewed. They may invite you to review their class - (not necessarily their teaching, who is to judge? they may get upset with another teacher whom they see as competition slagging off their classes) Perhaps invite them to do a Q&A session for your newsletter asking questions like how long dancing, how long teaching? Current teacher? (we all need one, we're not the finished article!) are they insured? etc.

Thanks for that: That was exactly how we thought we could proceed. Firstly we thought it would be good to have a factual list of all the classes in our area with styles. My thoughts were that we could do "peer" review and different teachers review each other. At some point I am going to develop a little checklist.
Gosh it's finding time to do all these things isn't it?

I come and have a look at Tribe now and again and confess that I am surprised that not more of our number are joining this discussion group. In the spirit of the season ..... IS THERE ANYBODY THERE????
I'm having fun with it Adele anyway! x

Every time someone sends me their email address I send on the tribe invite....I should maybe send a wee email to one and all to explain what we are trying to achieve here. This site could be oh so useful.

When I have mentioned Tribe to people they don't know what I am talking about !Or indeed that you don't need mega internet skills to participate. A little email explaining all would help . Just like to point out that I am not completely sad on a friday night -my friend has just gone home and I'm finishing the wine and of course closing down my PC for the night.
