Mm. I've still got one of those in my car and one in my wallet (the one that says "Visualize Kaihea happy healthy and cancer-free on her wedding day").

Here's my bizarre excuse for still carrying this around...mind you this is coming from a guy who still lets her pick the movie some nights...

Quantum physicists tell us they're increasingly certain we inhabit one of a literally infinite number of equally real parallel universes, which means that for every conceivable OR inconceivable possible event, it's really happening in some parallel universe. Kaihea had occasional glimpses of these, especially on heavy painkillers, and given how often her unusual psychic abilities manifested (like the times she'd tell me about a weird dream she'd had, and it would be right out of a book I was reading or an idea I'd had that I hadn't told her about, or a conversation I'd had earlier quoted word for word, etc) and the history of cultures giving an oracle or shaman similar chemical compounds to facilitate their visions, it does all kinda make sense.

So the thing is, all the top scientists and all the ancient mystics seem to agree: there's a universe next door where the cancer never came back, and another where it never happened in the first place, and another where it happened a few years earlier, or later, and so on, and knowing Kaihea, it makes perfect sense that she occasionally flits back and forth between them.

Keep visualizing - it's not a tragic fantasy, it's a window into a sweet universe next door, one every bit as real as this one. Kaiheaness continues, it's just dispersed differently now.

after my mom died, I would have dreams about her that seemed so very real...I started to believe that she was visiting me from that parallel universe, and soon it became a very matter-of-fact thing for me, 'oh, mom visited last night'.

Now it's starting to happen with my dog, Ruby.

Here's hoping that Kaihea is paying visits to you, too, Paul.
