We got the box yesterday and the band will be at my house tonight to unveil our long-awaited project!
If you'd like to pick up your copy tonight, autograph ink still drying, you're welcome to come to over anytime after 6pm.
We will also have band practice, so if you wanna hang out and dance feel free to do so!

By the way, the CD release PARTY will probably be in July or August...

The new CD is beyond words, great.

I love having a nice big bunch of music from you guys to listen to.

When I first heard the recorded version of We've Never Met, I found myself getting a bit chooked up. I found chills running through my body and my eyes welled up with tears. You are all so talented, I feel privileged to know you. When I think about the measage of We've Never Met, I count myself lucky to know all of you. We did meet, and I feel blessed because of it.
I can't wait for the next time to hear you play.

CD UPDATE ! ! !

Good morning everyone!
We are pleased to announce that we are going through the final bits of recording and editing before we send our tracks off to be mastered and mass-produced! Hopefully we will have the LP ready to sell sometime in April.

We are very grateful to those of you who have prepaid the LP for being so patient with us. We really tried to get this thing finished this winter, and we apologize that this didn't happen--we want to provide you with the best possible recordings, so instead of rushing the album out we decided to postpone it.
That being said, we are VERY pleased with the results so far and will be delivering to you a professional product.

Once we release the album we will be putting together a CD release party and will be available for touring around later this year.
If you are putting together a bellydance workshop weekend somewhere and want a great live band drop us a line!!!

Another bulletin will be sent out the day we send the tracks out with a more precice release date!
Thank you for all of your amazing support and wonderful compliments.
We couldn't do this without such amazing fans and audience!

Hafla in Phoenix May 3rd

Greetings, Kara Nomadicans, I just wanted to let you know about a cool shindig I'm doing in Phoenix on May 3rd. It will be a big, rocking live music hafla with some of your fave's Souhail Kaspar and Rachid Halihal. Big open dance jam at a fantastic house, drum and music jam, and I'm sure if any of youse felt like doing a road trip and some of your instruments accidentally fell into the car, well, I'm sure we could squeeze some room in for you to jam. =) I haven't touched base with you guys in awhile since I totally couldn't find Darbuka camp at Estrella this year, although it's possible I did unwittingly slide by once or twice. I do events here a couple times a year and you guys are totally welcome at any time! Instead of posting all my press announcements (which you've probably seen on other threads) you can just check out my website for details: www.phoenixhafla.com

I'm also doing another big event (a little more formal than the hafla) on the weekend of October 18th, so if anyone's looking for a reason for a road trip, those would be some fun things to shoot for. Hope I can catch up with you guys sometime soon!

Hi all...so our first hafla of 2008 is on Jan 26th -- hope to see you there. We had a blast putting on La Danse Macabre and have gotten some rest...so we are back.....

When: Jan 26th from 7pm to 10pm
What: Show with a great list of performers including an out of state guests and Suzanna Del Vecchio then open dancing
Cover is $5

After 10pm - stick around for the band Sponge Worthy (uhhh do not ask why - I have no idea - but hopefully it makes you laugh as hard as I did when Tim told me). The band includes members of Yallah! including our lead drummer Tim. Sponge Worthy is an instrumental blend of funk, jazz, & rock.

Nomadiqa - not Kara Nomadica - Release Ethnic Fusion Album

We recently released our debut album. It's a mix of electronic and ethnic/arabian styles, some downtempo, and some eastern european influences also. Just thinking it might be of interest to the folks in this tribe who like this kind of material and vibe.

Note that we are not to be confused with Kara Nomadica, who we like very much. A Kara Nomadica, Nomadiqa, and Nomadica (a Klezmer group based in London) gig has been mentioned!

Anyway, for our stuff, there's four full tracks available to listen online.

Howdy Folks!!! 40 Thieves has some major bellydance events coming up for you in the realm of soon!!!

NOVEMBER:
*This Saturday November 10th, Sadie will be blessing us with her presence & there'll be an opening set by yours truly. Doors open at 8:00pm show starts around 9:30.

*Saturday November 24th there will be a sensationally Sadie show. Doors at 8:00 show after 9:30.

DECEMBER:
*Starting this December, 40 Thieves will be hosting a weekly student night show every Friday night. On behalf of 40 Thieves we would like to extend invitations to all bellydance students, teachers, classes, troupes, & soloists in Colorado to perform. Every Friday we will have 10 performance slots (6 minutes max). Please e-mail me for more specific details & to request a performance slot.

handout with the choreography notes as well as a CD of the drum solo piece. Come dressed to sweat and bring plenty of water and a yoga mat.

Intro to Drumming and Tribal Style Drum Solo with Lawrence Osborn of Kara Nomadica
For all you dancers and friends of dancers who want to know how to drum, this workshop is for you! The first half is geared towards beginning drummers who want to learn the basics of playing a good drum jam perfect for dancers to dance to. In the second half of the workshop students will learn to drum a simple tribal style drum solo great for beginners and advanced drummers alike. Each student will receive a handout and a CD of the drum solo piece. Some drums will be available to borrow, please try to bring your own.

Starting Wednesday, November 7, 2007, there will be an additional Fundamentals of ATTS and a Drills and Conditioning class added to the Denver line up! These new classes will be held at the 910 ARTS complex in the Santa Fe Arts District and held at the following times:

Fundamentals of ATTS - 6-7pm
Drills and Conditioning - 7-8pm

All Monday night classes and times remain unchanged and will still be held at the Dance Fusion Studio.

Hi all - we are holding an open drum and dance at Studio Soma this Sunday. Discounted presale tickets will be available for La Danse Macabre at the event.

September 23rd

A Night of Live Music and Open Dance
Phoenix & Studio Soma will hosts a night of performance and open dancing to live music

Doors will open at 730pm - after the class has ended
Performance will begin 8pm - followed by open dancing until we get tired or it gets late!

All ages are welcome and invited
$5 Cover

The night will feature various performances to live drumming - no canned music on this evening!
Drumming by members of Yallah! and some other special guests - drum circle after performances.

If you are interested in performing - contact Phoenix. Priority will be given to Phoenix's students and class participants. Limited slots will be available.

Opening dancing for all!!! Bring your drums, zills, & belts!!

Also - refreshments will be available - potluck style. If you wish to bring something to share then please do - it is not required.

Ok folks... The most intense, visceral event is goin' down at 40 Thieves Hookah Lounge on Friday July 27th. 40 Thieves is celebrating their 1-year anniversary with a kick-ash birthday bash. Smoke-Topia, a night filled with Southern CO's illest DJs, Bellydancers, & largest Hookah selection!!!

mind playing for free for my event.

The event is called, "in honor of belly dance" an will be held in Fort Collins on Sat. Aug. 11th
from 2-4pm at Rolland Moore Park in drop-in shelter #1
(park is located on Shields St. just south of Prospect and North of Drake on the west side).

Dumbeks, or other drums, Ouds, saz players--any would be great!! Live music always pleases a crowd.

- Hafla with open dance slots still available at Casablanca. Contact Selayma to sign up to dance. We suggest that anyone planning to attend make a reservation at the restaurant whether you are dancing or not --- due to the size. Jim will be there to hang out (not performing) - it will be lots of fun!!

***Saturday and Sunday Workshop Info****
1) There is still room in the workshops on Saturday and Sunday. You do not have to take Saturday in order to attend Sunday - these are stand-alone workshops. The workshops are from 10am to 3pm with an hour for lunch.
2) Address for workshops and show: Denver Consistory - 1370 Grant St, Denver, CO
3) It is the same weekend of peoples fair and the workshop participants will have a parking location sent to them. If you are attending the workshops but not signed up then contact Selayma to find out about parking. For the show - I suggest parking east of Grant and you should be fine by the evening.
4) We had some registration glitches -- I have an email with the form if you need it or you can contact Selayma.

****Show on Saturday****
Great line up including many local dancers (some of the local performers are Phoenix, Tribal Tique, Selayma, and more) and of course - Jim Boz!!
We will have a silent auction with lots of great stuff!!!
After the show - Kara Nomadica will play for open dancing!!! So bring your scarves to throw on and jam.
Same location as the workshops and show starts at 7pm (doors at 630pm)
