Ha ha! Yes, vast subject. I am interested in personal experiences. I am assuming if it is not an intentional pursuit it would not be a quest.
How do you define it? How did you prepare for it? Was it a solo quest or with a group or guide? I have tried once in an Ayahuaska enhanced group with a feel-good result but I would not call it a vision. I have been thrilled by synchronicities on solo journeys, that yield information to me and dreams. -

Re: Vision Quests
Tue, June 30, 2009 - 11:40 PMEach of the world's indigenous cultures carry their own versions of the 'vision quest'. At the baseline, vision quests are whatever ritual brings new vision and restores perspective to your life. Often times this experience is powerfully transformative and initiatic; the vision quest changes your life. Typically people go on vision quests when they have lost perspective and need a vision to live by or live for. Though many ritual traditions define vision quest as a social or group event, there is usually an extended period of solitude involved. Each vision quest tradition also has its own specific preparations, diet-wise and otherwise, that participants adhere to before embarking on their journey. There is obviously much more to the vision quest. Hopefully these words can give you some basic ideas and guidelines.
