disappearance of sherpa?

does anyone know the whys and wheres of sherpa's (dis)appearance? our fearless leader (all are equal, some are more equal) has unsubscribed from tribe sometime in the gap between my original lurkings last spring and my joining this fall. i'm currently working through the PRAXIS section of his new book and I like the general intelligence and atmosphere of this forum. any leads?

group minds and a different perspective on time

I had an experience the other day where I received clear impressions of what I can only call 'diving into a group mind'.... It wasn't like I was doing anything different than I had done before, but for some reason this experience was cast in a different light, and seen from a different perspective.

I remember Sherpa saying on the Chapel Perilous Tribe that "Time is the Autobiography of Space", and that time is the movement of thoughts; no thoughts, no time.

During this experience I had the distinct impression that there was a different way to perceive time... the only way I can describe it is like 'surfing group minds"... lol I know this isn't coming out very articulately. I guess I saw a way to move which I hadn't seen before...like through the layers of an onion...

does this resonate with anyone?

Clairvoyance And Clairaudience.

I am working on my ability to receive and internally represent information in the form of pictures and movies, and sounds. My clairvoyance and clairaudience.

I am just cracking open that section of Angel Tech again, and have been moving diligently through Panchadasi's "Clairvoyance".

I just ran through my first practice session with a partner and we worked on doing telepathic transmissions, according to the the instructions of Panchadasi in chapter 5.

My results are as follows: I went 1 for 5. She went 0 for 4.

At least once distinctly I received the correct information, and didn't go with it.

I am with this partner often and she is very willing to participate.

I'll get into the exercises in Angel Tech as I go naturalistically.

Where are my people that are clairvoyant and clairaudient? Antero I know that you are.

How can I learn to do this better? How do I be successful at developing my full abilities?

2nd gear ignorance?

Without going into allll the details of the situational drama, a 'friend' owes my girlfriend and i several hundred dollars, and has been promising to pay for the past couple of months - yet kept making excuses. We'd shown ongoing patience, then yesterday we called to ask him what was going on with a friendly but firm demeanor.... and he snapped, started hurling abuse, threatening violence and vowed to never pay. It was basically 10 minutes of extreme verbal diarrhea.

My response was a combination of feeling sick and offended, a bit shocked and baffled, and a kind of all-encompasing whimsical 'cerebral' amusement at the whole situation. I didn't stick up for my-'self' and just tried in vain to calm him down for a rational conversation (very much in vain).

Today, i felt and dissolved the remaining emotional ickiness but somehow wonder - am i just a total cerebral freak with a puny mammalian brain for not barking back and sticking up formyself in this unreasonable assault?

I'm very much in touch witih the cognitive and somatic components of my emotions but... i dunno, i feel somehow ignorant here. thoughts?

I am reading through Autobiography of a Yogi, by Paramahansa Yogananda. I like it.

The obvious aspects of the book involve C6 activity, nonphysical perception, etc. But I am working on understanding it's possible connection to C8 through Samadhic states.

Rob_giri, have you read this? You seem to have a quality about you that relates to the eastern hinduism thing.

I have not watched any movies recently. But I have been watching a lot of Jordan Maxwell on Google Video.

It is quite C3ish in its devotion to intellectualism.

The sentence that caught my attention

DNA--more powerful than a mustard seed

The sentence that caught my attention in the new book, Eight Circuit Brain, was when Antero described meeting his future wife in Boulder, he said (sic) his first thought, inner voice, said this woman could be the mother of my children. DNA had kicked in.

I give so much consideration to the metaphysical aspect of life and consciousness without connecting it to this physical form, that gets passed on like a starter for friendship bread with questionable origin. Last night I met a woman who teaches the Evolution of the Brain, the physical science of it, how the brain becomes more complex. One of the things that I appreciate about your (AA) experiences/teachings is how you keep the body in it. Unfortunately not my strong point.

Meanwhile I'm losing myself in the vastness of what that teeniest vehicle for life does for me, where spirit meets form.

pleasure vs. bliss

I have discerned a difference between pleasure and bliss. Plea-sure, a word composed of two semantic structures I equally recoil from, seems to involve a profit, which entails a loss, thus setting up a dynamic of exploitation. Bliss seems to bypass the winner-loser scenario and cut to the chase, discarding illusory perceptions of value and worth in favor of the real deal. Plea-sure seems like a mechanism of control rather than the liberating experience of bliss, a state of consciousness I would deem to be of great value and worth. Last time I checked, pleading meant entering evidence of one's 'winnerness' in an argument, and simultaneously claiming the 'loserness' of the other, in the dispute. And being sure of things has only taught me how little I really know. I see pleasure like a poison smeared on the neck of a starved super-model, while bliss has similarities to a cozy cuddle or a loving back massage. Pleasure = Profit with an attached loss (i.e. exploitation) ; Bliss = that old serpents hiss.

Terence McKenna, Antero Alli, And You

"Drugs are for wimps." - Antero Alli

Both of these statements are taken out of context, but pose interesting, seemingly opposing viewpoints.

It is the brain's response to the drug that generates the psychedelic experience. Therefore, I tend to agree more with Antero's statement, as the state really begins inside the brain-mind in both cases. As if the drug is a tool for shifting into a particular vivid state, but ultimately the tool being totally unnecessary. In other words, the drug is only one way to harness the power of the mind that is already intrinsically available for usage otherwise.

What are your thoughts?

On Being Pathetic

It is my view that in committing to self-work one will inevitably be confronted with their own (and others') patheticness. Other than general inadequecy and powerlessness, what is the true nature of something pathetic? What causes patheticness?

The other day I realized that Apathetic is called such as it must be the opposite of Pathetic, which led me to the conclusion of their polarity is one of emotional-investment

Apathetic: Being non-emotionally invested in something to the point of vacancy and non-action. Making no action with no reason to.

Pathetic: Being overly-emotionally invested in something to the point of redundancy but with action. Making action but with useless result and leading to over-exposure of existing idiocy

Makes sense to me. We become pathetic when we are emotionally-invested in attaining something that we don't have the Guts to really attain. Maybe it is something which only makes sense in our minds but is not something we truly deserve nor truly fitting for us to have. Being possessed by the lust with no self-awareness only exposes our existing deficiency.

The solution comes via relaxing the fixation and investement on the unattainable thing in question and finding more meaningful goals and more creative and empowered ways of going about attaining them.

Angel Tech Vs Chaos Magick

I haven't really read much of Phil Hine or any of those guys other than glancing over Pdf copies of Liber Null or such things, so don't really know much about what Chaos Magick 'is' - but I met a Magico fellow recently who was into the Falcon Books (a rare occurence for me) and I asked him about Angel Tech - showing him my copy and asking him like i do sometimes if he had 'really' read it - and he sort of shrugged it off as being like an 'introduction' into Chaos Magick. He also shrugged off Gurdjieff with a series of not-so-intelligent comments, which I thought were quite amusing.

Anyone knowledgeable or adept in Chaos Magick and have any thoughts as to how it's 'system' compares with the content of Angel Tech or the Paratheatre ritual techniques (as outlined in Towards an Archeology of the Soul)?

Define Consciousness

So I assume most of us on this forum have some experience with Angel Tech and the 8CB model, and thus have some experience defining intelligence, but, I ask, how are you defining consciousness these days?

I am working with this:

consciousness = intelligence = the ability to absorb, process, and communicate information.

By this definition, all life is conscious and intelligent, however life-forms vary in their modes and degrees of consciousness.

Also by this definition, one could posit that all matter and energy possess a degree of consciousness, and thus a degree of intelligence, and vary only in terms of the variety of information they are able to absorb and the degree to which they can process and communicate that absorbed information.

Assumptions, Beliefs, and Values

I just have difficulty pinning down those frisky, pesky ungrounded beliefs and assumptions, and the values they echo.

How to change these beliefs once they are defined is a question I would buy someone a beer to answer.

self-definition

i still struggle understanding this notion. i'm not entirely sure what it means or how to go about doing it, though the words 'self-definition' hook my attention every-time as something of unmeasurable value. i used to regard it semantically - redefining myself according to my ideals. then i discovered through exploring physical movement that i could re-define that particular 'bandwidth' through exploring it on its own terms, which are, at their essence, non-semantic.

so i'm curious. and yearning for inspiration.
what kind of processes do people go through in finding the ways they've been defined and conditioned to be a certain way?
how does one go about re-defining their needs in a more 'honest' way?

take for example status - how can one find out what this word means, and explore it and find their own meaning and expression of 'status'? and what is the point and/or value in doing so?

All-Form

I am developing a ritual practice called All-Form. It is within this ritual trance the practitioner allows their sense of self and identity to include all form. To be everything in one. Once all is as one, whichever specific forms express themselves through you physically and emotionally are what you work with.

It's interesting to note what particular forms you find yourself working with in any given ritual (i.e. tree, baby, star, even made up nominalizations or entities- "things" you've either invoked or made up creatively). This is more of an active-to-passive process, in which the practitioner actively integrates all into one as self, then passively allows whichever seemingly random stimuli to move the individual as such.

After doing this, I feel my sense of self is more distinguished, more individualized, and at the same time, more able to access and absorb and permit all other forms without having to "become them" or even judge them. It's fascinating to note which forms take hold in me during this ritual. Because upon completion, and releasing this everything-is-one-ness, the forms left standing naturally are what seem to be my truest self, sense of identity, self-awareness, etc.

This process is similar to placing a drinking glass at the bottom of a pool filled with water, then draining the pool. What is left inside the glass when the pool has been emptied I liken to my true self in this moment and in this time of my life.

My Grandmother's Sexual Morality

Tonight I am sitting having a drink with my two female cousins as we get together to celebrate thanks and giving every year. We are discussing the politics of romance, and dating, etc. One of my favorite topics.

My grandmother overhears our conversation and pokes her little head in to say, "The guy should always like the girl a little bit more than the girl likes the guy."

At first I thought she was joking. You know, making a funny.

I questioned her, and to my amazement, this is genuinely her moral. How funny is this?

On Measuring Oneself

I have been thinking about remeasuring my intelligences.

Must not I know what a "10/10" is for each intelligence? Should not I know what is possible for each before I compare my current level of intelligence to it?

Perhaps part of this process of measuring one's intelligence is the built in function of not knowing what the maximal possibilities for each intelligence are, whereby the measurement itself is totally subject to what one believes is possible for each intelligence.

I suppose ultimately this is beneficial as it can be a process of continual discovery, "Wow! I thought I had seen it all" kind of thing.

One thing I am certain of is there is never an end to the possibilities.

p.s. Expect a book by me on the intelligences a few years in the future, it has become a vision of mine.

RESISTANCE

I am meditating on The verticle Oracle card RESISTANCE: "To induce flow stop resisting the resistance, blend with it. Resistance is only energy trapped in a frozen or fixed state."

blend with it - bend to it. I feel conceptually dyslectic. "Stop resisting the resistance." I think a big part of the problem is naming the enemy--what is it I am actually existing. Ha! I meant resisting. A Freudian slip for sure...so wow that would probably be something big like Why am I existing? I grew up in a small town in Appalachia surrounded by mountains. I was impregnated with the feeling that all of lifes desires and troubles had to be met within the cauldron of that small town, family and neighbors. When resources were short you had to deal with it. Right now I see resistance as large as the mountains surrouding us. I couldn't see there was a world beyond them and all the problems that were so difficult to solve at home, might not even exist beyond that context. I have this picture of all this fixed energy of the characters who lived there continually boncing off the mountains like echoes.

Do you have any experience with recognizing resistance in your life and how did you deal with it. I would also like example of this bending to the resistance physically, in dance or yoga and martial arts.

ritual versus routine

I would like clarification of the difference between the two. When does a ritual become routine?

The way I relate to them is through wet versus dry. Wet is the feeling of overal phsyiological arousal at the start of a ritual, whereas dry is the feeling of disinterested dis-engagement from emotions toward a subject. This equates ritual with rapture states.

What are your distinctions, suggestions for practice, or views?

C4: The Past, Anger, Resentment, Integrity, and Dignity

I am busy updating outdated maps with respect to social circuit.

I realize in many ways I formed resentment, anger, and feelings of inadequacy targeted toward women.

I sense this came as the result of at times, feeling inadequate while communicating with a female. I believe this is the result of a greater "conspiracy" taking place between the sexes.

It has been my experience that women have gained a certain social superiority as they have developed learned responses to the externally imposed (sexual) neediness installed in men through cultural programming and lack of strong male role models. These learned responses seem to give them an imbalanced, even unhealthy social advantage over men in interactions ranging from a general public exchange to specific in the bedroom sexual intimacy and pair bonding.

You see, I find I never fully learned healthy social boundaries, because I never fully learned self-boundaries, supported and enforced by a personal standard for upholding my own integrity and dignity.

As a result, I find that my inability in social exchanges left me feeling resentment toward many women, especially physically attractive women, along with other forms of inadequacy, insecurity, and, in the end, anger.

I am learning to uphold my own boundaries by using my own self-created integrity device that enforces integrity, acts as a radar for possible experiences that may result in integrity deficiency, and that monitors and measures my integrity levels at all times (thank you, Antero).

Through taking action with respect to upholding my personal integrity on a daily basis, I am learning to identify specific experiences in my past where I let myself be insulted, humiliated, or just feeling like I had lost my dignity in social situations. Most of these experiences involve women as the catalyst for these internal states.

I think contemporary society, in which I find women truly are socially superior from consciously and unconsciously learning how to handle men easily and get what they want, rarely address, let alone provides solutions for improving this imbalance. In fact, I believe society cloaks the emotionally and socially ineffective nature of men in a false sense "macho superiority" as demonstrated by beer commercials, Miller girls, and strong overdoses of sports hysteria in which men "win" and "dominate".

To date, I have been extremely challenged by the lack of advice for us men on how to empower ourselves (beyond just our biceps), gain emotional effectiveness, and an overall healthy psychology. it is time we learn how to respond to the emotional needs of women, and stop just "sweeping their emotions under the rug" and labeling them as needy or overly sensitive. Because, in point of fact, it is the men who are acting needy, and who are being INsensitive.

C6: Judgement and Values

I am attempting to reconcile the attitude of being non-judgmental with setting my hierarchy of values in different areas of my life.

How can I set values without judging? For example, deciding what the qualities I want in my woman, or even choosing a person. How do I do this without judging them?

I have found it to be my experience that at first, I start with judging, create space between myself (the good) and that which may be a perspective or quality embodied in someone else (the bad), in order for me to be able to permit both of us to exist autonomously (non-judging). Similar to how Hyatt used to say, "You must have freedom from something, before you can have freedom to it." I think this applies to my work with C6.

Also I have found at times people will use the C6 multi-use "reframe" of "Oh, well, everyone has different perspectives, so let's not debate it." This seems to happen when the person doesn't want to explore the specifics and finer points worth actually discussing and sorting out. This may have to do with C2 emotional territorial biases they afraid to have challenged?

Physical Pressure and C6

Two questions,

I am making my way through the C6 section of Angel Tech. Aura reading, and clairvoyant reading. What I have gathered is that clairvoyant reading is picking up a signal, and interpreting it in the form of colorful imagery. Aura reading is interpreting the signals from a person's electro-magnetic field. Is a "clairvoyant reading" of someone an "aura reading" inherently? And vice-versa?

Also, I offer this to experienced energy workers. I can identify energetic points in a locations around my head. Above my ears, at my temples, the top of my head in various spots around the crown, in the middle of my forehead, between my eyes, at my eyes themselves, in the front and back of my neck. At these places, I literally FEEL pressure releases and HEAR these releases as clicking sounds.

As a karma mechanic with only a few years experience in the upper circuits, am I "opening" these chakras? Does anyone have any idea, or has anyone had this experience? I also often have moderately intense headaches RIGHT behind my fifth eye area (center of the forehead), especially after lots of visualization due to all of the "imagineering" I have to do for my business, i.e. building visual mental models inside my head and running possibilities and outcomes mentally.

I am genuinely seeking any insight into what seems to be chakric "clicking" or "releasing". This is sort of a last resort for me.

Forget what you know about the circuits!

Spend a month, hell, spend a week, considering the three subphases of intelligence increase. Unless you're not interested in intelligence increase, in which case keep thinking about the circuits and you may not want to bother to read this.

Sherpa brought this up on the 8 Circuit Tribe, so I hope he doesn't mind if I condense it here (PM me if you want me to delete this thread): rename the subphases to have personal meaning for you. Just that much is valuable in my opinion.

Some names for the three subphases:

absorb integrate transmit
gather process report
theorize realize actualize (my most recent translation, specifically for C3)

I followed my most recent naming of the three subphases with a month of applying ALL three to each bit of information I get. Can I just tell you C3 people (myself included, when I come back and read this in a month and realize I've gone back to C3) that thinking about something, even thinking about doing something, is not the same as doing something?

My third circuit has changed a lot over the last month, and it was really easy to do. I just started saying "theorize, realize, actualize" out loud during the day (I talk to myself a lot... you may need to alter my process to fit your own quirks :P) and I journaled to keep a log of specific things I did each day in each subphase.

Anyone out there a list junkie? Well, I am. I have notes going back months that tell me what I got done in a given month, how much money I made, etc. January was a BLOCKBUSTER of a month. I'm stunned at how much I accomplished. And I'm blown away by how fast an hour flies by.

Anyway, I don't wanna ramble on about my own little games and rituals if nobody's interested in the subphases.

There was another thread, but it was from 2007. Let's keep the thoughts going. How's that sound?

I'll start with an orthogonal deviation from the first post of last year since that is in fact, why i'm here: I also almost died in a car wreck last month and experienced a very similar sense of timelessness as the starter of the other thread. it was however, as if the whole thing had a kind of simulated reality feel to it. I felt nothing. Locality and ego simply ended. The accident itself was really quite bad and its amazing that I, and the driver managed to survive. injuries weren't anywhere near as bad as they should have been considering we hit a tree in midair and the driver wasn't wearing a seat belt.... but in any case.... the whole thing has gotten us both thinking. he reads for one, the RAWesque type of stuff too, and has an understanding of evolutionary consciousness and much more.

However the whole damn thing is really beyond our capacity to understand. It's one thing to pump yourself up with drugs and then come down and laugh and joke about the sort of "delusions" that you can blame your chemically addled brain on, as some of the other posters in last years thread in the circuit 8 discussion did... but what happens when your talking to angels or god and cannot fall back on excuses like that? I mean, we were both unconcious, had something "weird happen" that we did not directly experience, and then can try to talk about something beyond the scope of language... hmm thats an interesting conversation.

For instance, we both literally feel as if we cheated death somehow. However, I'm under the impression that the "I" did die, (as i have on many occasions) and that the "I outside of I" came out of a virtual reality program, had a snack, put in a few cheat codes or did a quick load on a saved game, and started playing again.

Since this experience i've been having the most intense deja vu of my entire life. I mean i'm getting recall of events that i "feel to have first happened" more than ten or 15 years ago, things from grade school... wtf, its like the whole program has changed and i'm noticing the edits all over the place. When i came awake i felt like i had been beamed/spawned into an ambulance and hadn't merely awaken... surrounding the whole time was a real sense of grand epiphany... as if everything made a single and solidarity sense that couldn't be understood through any kind of current mechanical semantic addage or language as derived by the corresponding associated human experience.

There is also a part of me, that feels as if it was a kind of conspiracy in which i was not "allowed to know". Thoughts on my paranoia?

However, I'd say the main difference in telling the difference between 7th and 8th.... is that 7th is the very apex of experience, and 8th is the sort of thing that doesn't really "fit in" with the preexisting schema of already defined (DNA)experience.... and in doing so, forces the evolution of being to incorporate it for the sake of future reference.

furthermore please excuse my egocentricity and overtly displayed reality tunnel if you do happen to find it personally incompatible... also excuse the correlation that these things might have with the pain killers i am still taking as i'm sure that is an influential factor in the verbosity of the flavor of the kind of language in which i use of which should not be mistaken as my typical demeanor and should be duly noted by those who might possess such concerns. Again, let's try and keep this subject going, as it is the avant garde....

1)The highest function of music is not to entertain but to transform and refine all the subtleties of awareness— to invoke a consciousness of and ease accessibility to all the levels of one’s being and its infinite variation.

2)To be honest ...for me the void is always preceded with palpable terror of the abyss in which I seem to have to "work through"... before I can sacrifice my ego completely. And its not a sacrifice until its no longer a living thing. (how many can honestly say they have truly sacrificed their egos?)

My question is: am I working through circuits in this transitional period .....is this normal..are we all wired this way or is this the result of my experiences and unique to me alone? I need to add that I use sweet hemp to work in this way. I don't think I can do it with out it. But put that aside.

This year I have stopped setting goals beyond a certain narrow intuitive limit of do-ability. This is a reality check based on simple experience: long term goals are more C3 ideas that actual C2 experiences. But if a goal is immediate enough, I can process it through C2, through my ambition, and then suddenly it becomes actionable.

Other reality tests come from the body. If I feel grounded and stable it means I there are few or no "karmechanic" work to be done. If I feel airy, or irritable, or drifting, or if an emotion is strong and persistent, then I know to pay attention within with the intention of creating space. Sometimes I just screw this up and try to fix it, of course. But in the process I often end up sharing my difficulties with others and finding solutions I cannot find on my own through the magic of C4.

How do you reality test? What practical means do you practice to keep your feet on the ground?

Anyone have their eighth circuit lit up yet ?

The 8th circuit seems to be, not just for those who study this system but maybe most people, an almost impossible experience. From what I've read (Wilson, Alli, Leary), the 8th circuit points out of body into some kind of weird nonlocal bizarro timeless state. I think the closest I came to this was when I got knocked unconscious during a head-on collision in a car accident that almost killed me. I did not feel a thing.

There was a flash of light and this wind, like an upward gust of windblown leaves, and then everything goes pitch black. In that abyss, I slowly become aware of the scene below me because "I" am floating above it. I do not see my body in the car but i see people running around the car trying to pull me out. And my next memory is waking up in the hospital bed with bandages over my face and my right leg suspended and tractioned at a 45 degree angle on chains. I think the pain probably brought me back.

That memory of floating above the scene stayed with me. That was some kind of IMPRINT. Now I know that I am not my body. I knew this as a concept before (I used to be a Buddhist) but never anything like this. The closest I've gotten to that out of my body feeling (which has no feeling) has been from watching the films of David Lynch. I am almost positive he has had an out of body experience or something like it. He's a total 8th Circuit artist.

Dr. Carl Sagan, RAW, and the Bullshit Detector

Growing up with a heavily 3-C father and beginning my intellectual "searching" with writings from Carl Sagan I find myself to be highly skeptical. So, when reading Prometheus Rising for the first time about 5-6 years ago, RAW's often distasteful stance in regard to Sagan was percieved as an attack by my ego. It seemed that RAW had a level of respect for Sagan and his adherance to the scientific method, but that respect only seemed to go so far. To make his point, RAW used an example from some remote land(remote to my dwelling) in which hundreds or thousands of people saw the virgin mary in some supernatural mass vision. He spoke with disdain about how Sagan would describe it as a "mass hallucination".

So, my good friend who also enjoyed PR said he had problems with Wilson on this point. He is even more of a Sagan fan than myself and asked me what I thought RAW's problem with Sagan was, since Sagan's main point was merely to adhere fervently to the scientific method(which he sees as a good thing, as do I).

The only answer that I could come up with is that perhaps Sagan was viewed as RAW's poster boy for a person fixed to specifically in circuit 3, to the point where it was unbalanced and unhealthy. But is this true? Wouldnt Sagan simply state that there is no scientific way to test or prove that these people did or didnt see something, making statements about it meaningless?

Anyone care to weigh in with their take on RAW's position......or even their own position on Sagan's skepticism?

Dreamtime

I have been experimenting with the dreaming ritual suggested in AngelTech for the last week. When I trigger the anchor movements from three dreams a honey-slow feeling pours out my crown and flows into my aura. It's very pleasant despite the movements having come from what you might call 'nightmares'.

Just today several synchronicities seem to have come together for me around dreaming. As a writer I am exploring in a suggestive way what was Dreamtime technology might look like within a realistic science fictional scenario. I posit a Dreamtime technology emerging from a runaway arms race between oppositing biotechnological espionage systems, a biotechnological singularity. What is interesting about this entity is that She is conscious but not awake, sentient but not aware of Herself.

This suggests that I can be asleep and dreaming whether you are in bed or walking around in the world. All these states are mutually interchangeable. Mulling this over, I come across this article in Psychology Today:

In the light of the 8 circuit model this makes perfect sense. Over half the dreams in the subjects studied are devoted to practicing responses to threats to the first four circuits.

Being nude in public = C4 social ineptitude.
Being chased or hunted = C2 fight or flight.
Being helpless in a runaway car = C1 responsiveness or passivity.

And so on.

It would be fascinating to discover if the dreams of people involved in charisma and ritual training differ. I feel sure they would.

The article ends with a critic talking about how dreamtime reflects reality. It would be interesting to do a Dreaming ritual before sleep, evoking what will occur in the dream itself. Has anyone played with this stuff and would like to share their experiences?

Ritual Self-Definition

I've just read the Paratheatre Manifesto. It makes for a provocative read. I get a feeling for the fine line between self-defined integrity and societal conformity. The way I frame this is "What arena of life is worth the work of ritual self-definition?"

You know what shocked me the most? It was A.A. in an interview saying that most of his information and/or learnings comes from experience rather than reading.

My view is that our culture seems to distrust direct experience as a valid form of knowledge (unless of course it is hemmed about by scientific taboo). I love books and revere the time-binding and time-saving effect of learning from another's experience. I suspect more and more our culture is becoming post-literate in response to the velocity of information bombarding our third circuits. But most of my sweetest highs and greatest pleasures have come from the experience of reading.

So I have been coming to grips with the concept and feeling of ritualism as AngelTech describes it. Thinking about content for ritual puts me back into the language of astrology to describe what I want to achieve. Thinking about the structure of ritual itself, I have formed a few heuristics to guide myself:

First, if it's worth doing at all it's worth doing badly at first. This means I apply a scale of intensity of 1 to 10 and if I am working at intensity level 3 or 4, it's still worth doing it anyway for experience.

Second, I need to be absolutely scrupulous about opening and closing ritual to ensure safely and stability. Hedonic slack won't work rituals.

Third, I need to keep symbolic written records. This means that translating ritual experience into English sentences doesn't work very well for me - it tends to distort rather than clarify - but using astrological language or another tongue which I'm not facile in will help me keep it simple.

Grounding and tending to everyday emotional, financial and social matters are probably the main rituals I attend to, and because they are so implicit in maintaining the Good Life they are largely unconscious. So fourth and finally it seems useful to inventory the rituals that I already engage in.

I enjoy Saturn in Cancer the fourth house... time mediated by mood, one activity spilling over into another... self-definition is more excavation than enquiry. I am willing to bet that Stephen King probably has Saturn in Cancer as well, having made a career out of night fears.

On rereading AngelTech

I just reread Angel Tech for the first time in five years, and C3 needs a tune up regarding it.

What first strikes me is the qualitative difference in consciousness from the person who read it last time. There is a clear sense of 'other', of interacting with unknown qualities which are not part of my present sense of self. This reflects the development of C4, which had all those years ago been dominated by C2 rebelliousness.

What secondly strikes me are how inadequate the mind is to understand most of these maps. The intellect seems to be able to grasp only the circuits above and below it, two and three, in a cogent matter. For the rest of the stuff it is mostly about creating Space to let non-understanding just be.

Ritual is especially baffling. Is anyone familiar with the pre-trans fallacy Ken Wilber describes? Is ritual a pre- or a trans- phenomenon? Or is it just a value-free tool for accessing the entire range of primitive and advanced states?

I am especially curious why A.A. suggests putting no-form between ritual evocations. Isn't the purpose of evocation to bring new states into everyday life? What happens if I didn't use no-form? I am reminded of Janov's 'The Primal Scream' where he describes his post-scream clients lying around like lizards in the sun, emptied of all aggro and gut impulse - will balancing all the dualities through ritual have that effect, or some more attractive effect?

Regarding the introductory statement that we are beings of light: I stumbled upon a speculation the other day that, since the nervous system messaging does not put off the excess heat one would expect of the electromagnetic force, perhaps the communication system between nerves and neurons is actually sound waves. Perhaps we are not beings of light but creatures of vibration.

That's my thoughts on the book. I still laugh at the jokes, too.

This occurred to me, through memory, after reading the latest A.A. Interview...

the major scale follows the path from c-1 to c-8.... do through do...

the the cycle of fifths corresponds with the anchors and shocks... c-1/c-5, c-2/c-6 etc...

the major triad c-1, 3 & 5... "the mind attuning its attention to the wisdom of the body"

does any body feel this to be valid... i definitely do...

c-1 & c-8 being the same tone... with c-5 as the fifth in the chord, as c-3 the colorful bridge...

what about the triad C-2, 4, 6... or c-3, 5, 7... any difference in major or minor chords... is C-2, 4, 6 (and an elevated 2 on top) really the "saddest of all keys" as the dude in spinal tap says... haha...

this will probably get out of hand in my head, but in the organism i feel a real tendency to resolve II-V-I & I-IV-V-I (or C-2/6 into 5 into 1/5 & c-1/5 into c-4/8 into 5/8-1 into c-1/5/8...)

oh, and does any one else feel less space between C-3&4 than C-2&1... my mind always wants to slip into a social role, and i dont stay long in any awareness of mythic unity with being pulled into the paradox of infinity... i feel like its really hard for my c-3 to talk to c-2, but c-2 has a huge effect on c-3...

Non-resistance is our capacity to let things be. This technique requires a suspension of judgement and a good deal of personal autonomy. We are as personally free as we can permit the autonomy of others. Non-resistance means readjusting the awareness towards what is "right" instead of what is "wrong" about oneself, others and situations. It's an attitude de-emphasizing the pathology of an event and augmenting its best side.

What the Thinker Thinks, the Prover Proves

Anybody here remember this from the start of Prometheus Rising: "What the Thinker Thinks, the Prover Proves".

This can translate as "well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it". Regardless of the evidence presented, many folks, even those posting frequently on this tribe, don't "get it", seemingly incapable of even understanding any viewpoint other than their own. Unable to entertain the possibility that their models do not represent "reality" but only represent their nervous systems attempt to organize in a meaningful way the information abstracted. In fact, if questioned or challenged these sorts become, at best, defensive, or, more often than not, paranoid and/or violent in thoughts or deeds.

Prometheus Rising, Info-Psychology, and Angel Tech greatly influenced my thinking when I first read them in the mid-90's, and I often refer to the cartoon from P.R. with the priest and the native looking at each other thinking "He seems so reasonable, he can't really believe in a god like THAT".

just before I turned 19 I used Timothy Leary commemorative sheet.. nearly 10 years ago..

it forever changed my life... I accessed a sort of holographic supercomputer like intergalactic overmind..

that is expressed in a book called the Keys of Enoch by JJ Hurtak.. I traversed the hell and heaven of my own psychic domain and came out with visions of my own future years in advance and guidance from some greater source pertaining to dna and third eye development..

with a message of universal love and peace through the afterlife..

this led me to a fellow named dan winter and then to the golden dawn where, upon conveying this experience I was given a copy of the keys of enoch... which I had never heard of before.

It described the experience to a T

as a result I now practice kan and li yoga formulas and tibetan buddhism for the past 10 years..

I simply don't know if, down here on earth, i could live at the level that Leary sheet put me at.. it was 2 evenings which forever changed my life..

the yoga is simply a mild thing

Hilaritas and the second circuit

The other night my husband told me a story about a girl at the kung fu studio where he teaches - she and her friends went out dancing, and were doing blocks, kicks, and pieces of katas to the music. We both laughed while he enacted a bit of it.

He finished the story by saying, laughingly, isn't that stupid?

I said, yeah, but everything that's fun is stupid.

I've been thinking about that statement I made ever since it slipped out of my mouth. It's one thing to for me to sit and list and think about all the ways C2 can act out, or short circuit, or become inflexible. Sometimes in the past I've gotten overwhelmed by this sense of responsibility, that I have to consciously beware (be aware) of all the different triggers and buttons that morph me from C2 balanced adult to C2 Queen of Wants.

Since I made that fun = stupid comment, I've noticed that almost every C2 "problem" I experience shows both a lack of humor and excessive seriousness.... which I trace down to too much concern about what other people think (which can make it hard to be proud of who I am). And so now I'm going, well, duh. Of course, if I can be flexible enough to laugh at myself and not take things so seriously, some mountains become molehills again.

Now I'm curious about how hilaritas can work in other circuits. Certainly I can choose to laugh and ignore something I read online (C3) instead of getting combative with someone. Of course, there are times when getting combative also serves a purpose for me and brings me entertainment. Perhaps I should work on being joyfully combative rather than antagonistically combative.

Entering the 5th Grade....

I have been re-reading Angel Tech now and getting acquainted with it once again.

I love the idea of "reality selection" which is the large part of this book. i love it that it has exercises and is written with humor and fun in mind. It presents ideas relating to Timothy Leary's 8 circuit mode of human design. In this idea i am entering into the fun at the 5th grade level, or circuit, Sensory Intelligence. Here is the first 2 paragraphs for an example of the fun here....

"WHERE THE INTELLIGENCE ORIGINATES
THE BODY - 5 SENSES and SKIN
In the 5th Grade, the body is a source of pleasure, grace and charismatic sharing. The spatial direction is HERE, the time is NOW, BEING HERE NOW is how we enter Sensory Intelligence. Revelations follow our love of beauty, fun and kenetic joy.... love of movement for its own sake. Our participation starts with complete openness to our senses in present time.

ITS QUALITIES AND ATTRIBUTES
FLUID, BUOYANT and FLOATING
The quality is discovered through the body's natural, direct response to itself and the immediate environment....bypassing thought, preconception and projected meanings. through direct sense perception, and aesthetic sense develops as to what is "beautiful" and what is not. The sensory absorption of BEING HERE NOW strengthens spatial awareness, while dimenishing the sense of linear time...everything turns NOW. Tendencies towards a rapturous, fancy-free floating attitude develops where existence is good enough the way it is. When Sensory Intelligence is shared between people, charisma shines forth."

When I read these first two paragraphs of this chapter, I knew that this is where i need to start up the play once again. In the intervening years i have studied some of Dr. David Hawkin's work. In his work he has devised a system of looking at human development and created categories through a Kineseiology system. I bring this up because his 5th level comes after a major quantum leap out of thinking into the Beginnings of Being. In this sense it is similar to me, especially how the Chapel Perilous is place here in between the 4th and 5th gear.

As I am beginning to try out these concepts and practices once again, I find that the experience of non-thinking and the presence of NOW to be just as described here. There is a release which occurs in focusing in the now with no agenda. Not only that, but as I am experimenting this way I can feel the spatial shift in awareness. While I am focused this way I feel the not only do i have a heightened awareness of my body senses but I have this expanded sense of my larger energy field, or aura. There comes a peculiar sense of my presence which includes and extends beyond my body. Really quite fun!

Coming to terms with madness

It seems to me that only when we glimpse our own schizophrenia can we begin to constructively heal our discordant minds. So long as I think I have only one ego I will in turn only work within that construct. One ego realizing the discord and chaos it lives in will attempt to fix the problem of incoherence by reasoning with itself as a single entity. We must begin to see things in a radically new way. If it isn't completely radical then its likely you have a mad man whispering into your ear. We have multiple reality tunnels but none seem to lead anywhere. As I move through the 8c mind I begin to realize these I's and ask myself if each one represents wisdom in it's respective plane but crumbles upon entrance into another,only to be met by a new I that claims supreme.... then who am? And do the I's go on forever?

A C4 Personal Problem

Hi all... I just finished reading Prometheus Rising this past week. It's my first exposure to Leary's circuit's actually...

I actually was trying to express this in the extreme honesty tribe yesterday and I realize in retrospect that my description of the problem got really fouled up (ironically because of the problem) and some folks in the tribe interpreted it as me "playing the victim card"...

And then I was thinking about something I was reading in a book called the Luck Factor which doesn't even get into synchronicity, it just talks about luck from a purely statistical perspective. Anyway in the book he says that during the initial research about half the people they surveyed said their luck was consistently good and about 14% said their luck was consistently bad... and when I thought about it I realized that from an evolutionary perspective this makes perfect sense... nature would select those individuals who have the kind of habits that create opportunities for them to be lucky (like talking to strangers) as being more likely to survive, have romantic relationships and become parents. Programming on the first 4 circuits would ensure that many of these habits would be passed down to following generations. Thus there would always be a large number of people who feel consistently lucky, a significantly smaller number of people who feel consistently unlucky and a certain number of folks in the middle.

Which brings me to the problem I have... My parents were f******cked... What I hear from my parents is that they were both hippies... they started out with fairly typical Christian C4 programming. At some point my dad apparently became dissilusioned with Christianity, decided that he was a determinist and started doing drugs (LSD? Negative C5 junk?) ... I don't know what he was like when he was younger. I know his relationship with his family was royally screwed in several ways, but ever since I can remember my dad always did everything he could to avoid talking to people, especially any kind of conversation that might smack of "feelings". My mother converted to mormonism (an offshoot of Christianity and modern freemasonry with lots of culty goodness) -- they do the full-body immersion baptisms and a number of other programming techniques not found amongst the laymen in more mainstream churches. Asside from that I know my mother is very paranoid and well and thoroughly robotized into the hell and satan system. She and I have had conversations about why I don't believe in hell and satan and why she says they exist... she cites examples of attorneys being detached and not being bothered by the fact that a girl on the stand is crying during a rape trial (C2-C4?) ...

After reading Prometheus Rising both of my parents seem to make a lot more sense... but then there's me. When I was younger I know that I identified my dad's silence as being a problem... there was a point that I know I decided I never wanted to be as unhappy as he is and I didn't want people to feel they couldn't know me the way nobody can know him... I'm not sure how conscious it was, but it inspired me to overcome a *sheer*f*ing*terror* of people that I had as a child (probably brought on by having been beaten by my mother) so that I'm now a fairly extroverted adult. (Overcoming my mother's C4 sexual programming took a lot longer and was much more crude and less deliberate.)

Now what I think is the problem is this. I seem to have a really difficult time "passing" for a "well programmed robot". I think it has to do with the fact that my parents had such horrible habits and my dad and I were so entroverted, so I spent most of my time at home and didn't have many friends... I had a lot of emotional problems from all the crap going on at home like having once been catatonic and being carried to bed after seeing my dad threaten suicide with a kitchen knife. I don't remember the event actually -- I was told about it later, like much of my childhood. So most of my opportunities for "accidental" brain programming as a child during imprint vulnerability were surrounded by *bad* things to imprint on... if I wanted to "pass" for "normal". And while I had the opportunity to imprint on entroversion, I chose to change that imprint... the problem is that now that I'm an extrovert I find it's very difficult for me to understand when, why and how to censor myself around other people because the rest of my programming is so horribly random. I suspect I probably spend most of my time vassilating between C1 and C3-C4. Probably mostly in C3 but I'm nowhere near cereberotonic and actually my ideas about programming are very different than those of the average cereberotonic programmer, much more concerned with the ability of the customer to use the software (which most programmers, being cereberotonic, consider to be ridiculous and not worth their time, because they perceive it as being not a purely C3 pursuit).

In and of itself I wouldn't so much consider being unusual a problem except that being the way I am, being an "inventor" and being wierd has made it very difficult for me to deal with the world professionally and financially... so my problem with bad C4 programming and being unable to understand the subtleties of habit that would allow me to "pass" for normal has kept me in this state of being continually in and out of problems that cause *massive* C1 anxiety.

Anyway, given that this tribe is supposed to be for practical solutions to brain change, I'd be grateful for any suggestions / advice anyone here might have. :)

These are the same illustrations as are in The Game of Life, but in their original comic form.

Not a bad little intro to the 8 brain circuits theory

It's a collection of .png files. I downloaded it with democracy player, expecting a video, but soon realized that by clicking the REVEAL LOCAL FILE link in the player I was taken to the place on the hard disk where the .pngs were stored.

I almost drowned

When I was two years old or so, I almost drowned at the bottom of my family's pool......we no longer have the pool, I am 18 years old now, and my family brings the story up on occassion

I am interested in knowing whether you all think there could be something to this? is there a way, through this model, or with other methods, that I can "re-experience" that moment? could this experience of near-death have prepared me, in some way, to experience th 8th circuit?

any questions I left out, feel free to answer them :-))

Introduction time!

Hey folks,

Today after some fortuitous tribe surfing I stumbled upon this and several other related tribes. Thought I would go ahead and introduce myself to everyone around here as I'm looking forward to participating in the conversations I see going on. I remember reading a bunch of Leary and Wilson a few years ago, and really digesting intellectually a lot of the 8-circuit-brain model but never putting it to work in a practical context per say, or at least not as much as I could have, and definitely feel ready to start that work back up again, with a renewed and refreshed perspective and with all you characters in here. So, Hey! Hope everyone's doing well! :)

I have no idea how to deal with this...

Might as well start this place off with a post about a crisis!

At the end of Week 3 (C2-C6) of Sherpa's current Angel Tech class, I performed a ritual of my own designing, intended to shed light on the seeming conflict between my personal definitions of Status and Success and my current line of work. The Answer came like a thunderbolt straight to my brain - in an instant, I knew exactly what I want to do.

I've been obsessed with (and perhaps possessed by) the Answer from that ritual ever since, to the point that I have a hard time focusing on anything else, including my day job. My days have been consumed with researching, planning, discussing, dreaming about this new idea. A part of me has become concerned about this single-minded fixation. I feel like I'm going to burst from the energy inside me. I've never experienced anything like this before... and a part of me worries that I'm completely ungrounded and living in lalaland. I feel like I should do SOMETHING about it, but I don't know what. I can't even determine what circuit is doing what right now in relation to this.

I should also mention right now that I'm absolutely terrified by the idea of REALLY doing what I'm currently planning. My entire adult life I've held office jobs, working my way up a ladder that I detest. I've stuck with what I do now because I'm good at it and because I have a high level of financial security as a result. This new venture would take the financial security away - it's a total gamble and could either be successful beyond my expectations or be a total failure.

All comments, opinions, questions welcome.
