Re: floor work
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 9:20 AMIf your costume can hide the kneepads I would suggest definatly using them. I bruise easily and just thought it would be best to save my knees in the future. Also, Kassar has a sliding move and the kneepads help execute the move smoothly.

Re: floor work
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 9:48 AMHey there!
If you are going to be spending a great deal of time, say an hour or so, on your knees you definitely want knee pads. Your knees will still toughen up even with them! Melanie and I taught a floorwork workshop and she gave her knee pads to someone and her knees were not only bruised but blistered afterwords! For performing we were simple Ace brand knee supports. They provide just enough padding to make floorowk smooth without being too bulky, so you can try those as well.
Good luck!

Re: floor work
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 6:24 PMI've been meaning to buy some for ages, and not got round to it. I did try my teachers pads, and they made me so much happier in going down - took away the fear. It also made sliding much easier. She had these.

I was about to buy these

but I spotted some lighter ones here.

and I'm waiting for them to arrive. I'll let you know how I get on with them.
I could have got them cheaper here but I was buying other stuff as well (ghillies!)

Re: floor work
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 5:06 PMMy Dans-ez kneepads arrived. The actual pad, an oval of rubbery hexagons is wonderful - you feel you could crash to floor and not hurt your knees at all, and the pad is very flexible - - but they have a wide elastic band at the back that doesn't feel good when you bend your knees tightly. Plus with me being of somewhat generous proportions, they are too tight for me. They might be fine on someone with smaller knees.
I'll probably remake them using the pad. -
