one of the things i do for a job is to fit people for contact lenses and teach them how to wear them. so i am teaching a little sweet thing how to put in her lenses when i see her purse moving. i ask her what it is and she pulls out a four foot red tail boa out. great snake, but why are you bringing it to the eye doctor's with you? and wash your hands so you don't get salmonella in your eyes. i like reptiles, but some of my co workers were a litte freaked.

Mine was like this:

I didn't have much planned for the weekend since it was my turn to have the kids. Kids being 17 and 19 AND all their loud, obnoxious friends. I figured I would just be corralling them and telling them to be quiet and GO HOME already!

BUT, last night -- perfect weather -- I went to a town party down by the river with music and food and saw lots of people I haven't seen in ages. Then, I was lucky enough to spend the rest of the evening with my lover, which is always unpredictable. mmmmmm

Got home and there were about 7 cars parked at the house but not a teenager in sight !!!!! Yipes! What to do? They eventually got home around 1:00 am. They'd gone to a beach concert and had a blast. I asked Tommy today what band was playing and he looked it up on the web.... "Jefferson Starship?" ..... DUDE! They were Jefferson Airplane! He flipped out. He thought some of the tunes sounded like the ones from him Monterey Pop Festival CD. ..... Q: does Grace Slick still sing with them? He said the singer had a great set of pipes.

An action-man style doll of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler has gone on sale in the Ukraine, with saleswomen comparing the doll to Barbie.

Supermarkets in the capital Kiev are stocking the 40 centimetre high figure of the fuhrer, complete with jackboots, leather trench-coat and swastika armband.

The £100 figure has a spare head "with a kind expression on it," glasses and several changes of clothes.

The decision to market the figure comes at a time of growing extreme right political sentiment in Ukraine.

There are also reports of increasing xenophobia and racism, and of some extremists supporting racism similar to that of Nazi Germany under Hitler.

Critics believe a cult of Hitler could spring up among disaffected youths, too young to remember the ravages Nazism wreaked on the country.

Around three million people died as a result of the Nazi occupation of the Ukraine, including 1.5 million Jews.

Hitler wanted to turn the country into a buffer zone with Russia peopled by slave workers working for the Third Reich.

Although Ukranian laws prohibit any form of fascism or propaganda, the dolls are already on sale and will be mass marketed this summer.

One saleswoman said: "It is like Barbie. Kids can undress fuhrer, pin on medals and there's a spare head in the kit to give him a kinder expression on his face.

"He has glasses that are round, in the manner of pacifist Jon Lennon".

The doll will also come with accessories like a miniature Blondi, Hitler's faithful Alsatian who died alongside the Nazi in his bunker in Berlin in 1945.

The doll is dressed in long light-brown cloak, military uniform and jackboots.

According to the saleswoman, should the demand be high, manufacturers will go further and launch a series of themed Third Reich toys, including interiors of Hitler's chancellery, toy concentration camps with barbed wire, barracks and operating models of gas chambers and crematoriums.

ISLANDERS had just caviar and whisky to live on after their supply ship was cut off for a week by storms.

The 125 residents on Colonsay in the Inner Hebrides are completely dependent on the mainland for all their food. They're used to keeping plenty of dry and powdered goods stored away for rough weather, but milk and fresh produce can run out after just a few days.

Last week, after a bout of stormy weather, the island missed two vital deliveries, leaving the only shop with just a few jars of caviar and bottles of whisky on the shelves.

Shopkeeper Mike McNicholl said: "When you miss one boat, you have a run on supplies but it's not normally too bad. Once we miss two, however, we're really in trouble."

Islanders were left fighting over the last of the rations before a ship managed to make the journey across with much-needed supplies on Wednesday night.

Mike added: "We have a perfect, idyllic lifestyle - apart from when we don't get the boat and we don't have anything to eat!"

How to get a head start in party planning

Five hundred drunken teenagers have attacked police during a wild party in the Australian city of Melbourne.
Officers answering a complaint about noise were forced to retreat and await reinforcements after they were attacked with rocks and bottles.

The teenager who threw the party while his parents were away could now face a bill for thousands of dollars to pay for the damage done in the rampage.

The trouble started after what appeared to be a routine complaint about a noisy party in a suburban neighbourhood. The officers backed away when confronted by a large crowd of drunken 16 and 17-year-olds.

Glass bottles and other missiles were thrown at police cars and nearby houses and gardens were vandalised before at least 30 officers, a helicopter and the police dog squad arrived to try to restore calm.

An estimated A$20,000 ($18,000; £9,200) worth of damage was done but no arrests were made.

Victoria state Police Commissioner Christine Nixon said the teenager who threw the party, 16-year-old Corey Delaney, may hold ultimate responsibility.

"He needs to learn a lesson, and one way or another we will be making sure that happens," she told a news conference.

The BBC's Phil Mercer in Sydney says the teenage host said he hoped his mum and dad would not find out what had happened.

But they have. His mother Jo, on her way home from Queensland, told the Seven Network: "We're a good family. I'm just devastated and horrified that this has actually occurred.

"Obviously he's very scared of the consequences that we're going to bring upon him."

Corey Delaney is reported to have advertised his party on the internet and by text messages and it attracted a number of strangers. He told local media his invited guests had no part in the melee.

But when asked what advice he had for other teenagers planning a home alone party, he appeared unrepentant and told the Nine Network: "Get me to do it for you.

"Best party ever, that's what everyone's saying."

What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving? And what are you thankful for?

Four of my sibs and various cousins, nieces and nephews and other stragglers are gathering at my sister's house for the Annual Celebration and Feast Fest. I think the group totals about 29. There will be much food and revelry and this year, especially, much thanks for all of us here and for my parents who are in the hospital holding precariously onto life at age 87 and 89.

They're the ones that created all of us "fruit of the womb" in the first place and taught us that nothing beats close knit family love.

YaY family !!! ...... YaY love !!!

I'm also very thankful for having such great friends on tribe who have been there through thick and thin for me.

'Halloween Schoolkids Attack Teachers' House - Exclusive Teachers' Shock On Halloween As 30 Pupils Attack Them At Home'

A MOB of schoolkids hurled potatoes and eggs at the home of two teachers during a Halloween attack.

Up to 30 fourth and fifth year pupils and former students pelted the house of John Chisholm and his wife Chris.

Mum-of-two Chris, 45, was left with a red and swollen face when she was struck by an egg as she went to see what was going on.

The business teacher works at Penicuik High School with her husband, the head of maths.

The front door of their home in the Midlothian town was cracked by the force of the missiles and windows were left smeared with egg yolk.

Lothian and Borders Police were called after the mob mounted two attacks after 7.30pm on Wednesday.

In the first incident, howling youngsters ran past the front of the house pelting it with eggs and potatoes.

Five minutes later they returned, this time laying siege to the house and its occupants.

The jeering mob did not even stop when Mrs Chisholm was struck and only fled when police arrived.

The children were recognised by the couple as senior and former pupils.

One officer said: "They were well armed and prepared and seem to have gathered at the end of the street in advance. No one seems to know why these teachers, in particular, were picked out but it was clear they knew whose house they were going after.

"It must have been extremely frightening for those inside."

Yesterday, Mr Chisholm, 52, declined to comment.

But the windows of his house were still smeared and fragments of egg could be seen lying on the ground.

Neighbours said it was not the first time the house was targeted.

One said: "Last summer, a missile was lobbed through a window from the street.

"There is little doubt they are being targeted because they are teachers and it's a crying shame because they are a very nice couple."

Police are investigating the incident and the school have launched an inquiry. The pupils involved could be excluded.

A Midlothian Council spokeswoman said: "The school is fully supporting the police in identifying any pupils who may have been responsible for this incident."

A spokesman for teaching union the EIS said: "All attacks of this type are to be condemned, and must be taken seriously by the relevant authorities."

A man has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after being caught trying to have sex with a bicycle.

Robert Stewart was discovered in his room by two cleaners at the Aberley House Hostel in Ayr, south west Scotland, in October last year.

On Wednesday Mr Stewart admitted to sexual breach of the peace in Ayr Sheriff Court, where depute fiscal Gail Davidson described how he had been found by the hostel workers.

She said: "They knocked on the door several times and there was no reply.

"They used a master key to unlock the door and they then observed the accused wearing only a white T-shirt, naked from the waist down.

"The accused was holding the bike and moving his hips back and forth as if to simulate sex."

Both witnesses, who were extremely shocked, notified the hotel manager, who in turn alerted the police.

Mr Stewart was placed on the sex offenders’ register but his sentence was deferred until next month.

He is not the first man to be convicted of a sexual offence involving an inanimate object, however. Karl Watkins, an electrician, was jailed for having sex with pavements in Redditch, Worcs, in 1993.

So I'm up in Gloucester Mass visiting with me own Pop, and he has an amusing bit of intel to relate. Seems he's in with the local Pols, city council race and the like, buncha paunchy retirees feeling important. So one of Pop's new Pals used to be a lobbyist who used to be a Spook at Langley. This fella knows another fella from back in the Beltway day who still has his finger on the pulse, he predicted Rove's resignation by two weeks. Then he predicted Gonzales' resignation, again by two weeks. Now he predicts Cheney's due to resign around Sept 13 or so, to be replaced by Virginia senator John Warner, who has recently announced he won't be running for a seventh term. He says it's all part of a deal cut with the Dems to prevent a Bush impeachment.

Could be bullshit, it's just political gossip, but cool nonetheless, no? Kinda makes me want to find out what the line on it is in Vegas.

(2007-Aug-19) - An Australian woman was killed by a pet camel given to her as a 60th birthday present, police said Sunday.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was killed Saturday at her family sheep and cattle ranch near Mitchell, 350 miles west of the Queensland state capital Brisbane, state police Detective Senior Constable Craig Gregory said.

The 10-month-old male - weighing about 330 pounds - had knocked her to the ground then lay on top of her in what police suspect wWAS A MATING BEHAVIOUR, Gregory said.

Camel expert Chris Hill agreed with Gregory.

Hill, who has offered camel rides to tourists for 20 years, said young camels are not aggressive but can be dangerous if treated as pets without discipline.

The woman was given the hand-reared camel in March as a birthday present from her husband and daughter.

The fate of the camel is not known.

An autopsy of the woman will determine the precise cause of death within days.

Bush Gets Hit By Fire and Lighting

AN accident-prone pub was hit by a fire, two floods and a lightning strike - all in less than 24 hours.

Staff at the Bush Bar couldn't believe their run of bad luck, which caused more than £15,000 worth of damage.

First, a fire broke out in a music machine. Then, the pub was flooded by a leak from a flat above. Staff mopped that up before the bar was struck by lightning and suffered a flash flood.

Events manager James Millar said: "It all started at about 1pm when the bar was quiet and we thought we'd put some music on. "One of the customers reported a strong smell of smoke. When I went to check the music equipment, I saw flames shooting out. "We switched everything off, emptied the pub and managed to extinguish the fire ourselves."

The Dundee bar re-opened but there was more drama to come a few hours later. James said: "At about 10pm, water started to trickle down from the roof. It was coming from a third-floor flat and travelling right down. "The police and public works people came out and they apparently secured the property and rectified the problem. We were assured everything would be OK but left a few buckets overnight, just in case."

A storm hit the pub overnight and when Jim arrived the next day the bar was under water. Lightning had struck a wall and rainwater from the downpour had seeped in. He said: "The place was completely flooded - it was like a swamp. We phoned five or six staff to come in and help clean up the bar. It was all hands on deck, with eight or nine regulars also mucking in to help sweep the water out. We also had water coming up out of the toilets and had to shut off the men's. One customer managed to wreck a new pair of shoes trying to clean it up."

And there was worse to come when Jim went down to the basement. He said: "There was a foot of water. Beer kegs, electrical goods and DJ's equipment stored down there were floating around. It seemed to be one disaster after another."

Despite last week's calamities, it is business as usual at the Bush. James said: "We are open but we are still using drying equipment in the cellar".

At least the regulars could still see the funny side. One customer requested Rod Stewart's Sailing on the sound system.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - An American Web site offering G-string underwear and T-shirts for dogs emblazoned with picture of Buddha dropped them from its sales list on Wednesday after protests by predominantly Buddhist Thailand.

"It is a good thing they understand our sensitivity," Foreign Ministry spokesman Piriya Khempon said a day after saying the products sold on California-based on-line store CafePress.com had offended Thais and Buddhists elsewhere.

The site sells more than 70 items, ranging from T-shirts to teddy bears to beer pitchers bearing pictures of religious figures and philosophers from Hindu god Shiva to Jesus Christ and Mahatma Gandhi.

Although the site removed advertisements for Buddha G-strings and dog T-shirts, items depicting Jesus and Shiva remained.

About 90 percent of the 64 million people in Thailand, where dogs are regarded as inferior beings, are Buddhist.

"I go to the zoo almost every day with my husband, and we're always going to see Bokito. I even have pictures and videos from Berlin when he was only four months old," the woman told Dutch mass-circulation daily Telegraaf.

"He is and remains my darling," the paper quoted the woman as saying from her hospital bed, where she is being treated for bite wounds and a broken arm and wrist. The 11-year old male gorilla burst out of its enclosure on Friday and went on a rampage in the zoo's cafeteria before being recaptured.

"I stood by the small apes in the Africa section when I heard a thud behind me. I turned around and there was Bokito. I had nowhere to go. He gripped me, sat on me with his full weight and began biting me," the woman told the Telegraaf.

"I could only think 'O God, I'm going to die, I'm going to die'."

The Telegraaf said people had since come from across the country to Rotterdam Zoo to see the gorilla.
