Re: say hi!
Mon, July 25, 2005 - 5:33 PMHi back to you !
I just couldn't resist a tribe around Gibran ! Like Fran, I have read Gibran since the '60's. All the books I had have disappeared over the years, but a friend made sure I had "The Prophet" back in my library a few years ago. There is not a bit of that book that does not impact with awesome meaning! I am thanking you for uploading the text of various segments. You just made my life easier! I have much written down by hand [before computers - aurgh!]. Now ~ all I will have to do is save your text to get it saved for use when, where and how I want. Thank you !
I probably won't be here often. Just don't seem to have the time. But I'm glad you are ! {In fact, haven't even checked into the tribe I moderate for months - - shame} By the way, Love your photo gallery.
I have a very old cassette of "The Prophet" narrated by Richard Harris with music and all ! Did you know such a thing existed? Mine is a copy from a copy, so don't know how to get a better quality one. It'll move your heart and set some phrases in stone in your psyche.
What a good idea ! -

Mon, July 25, 2005 - 9:36 PMheh, heh...posting a bunch of his works in one place was my ulterior motive for starting this tribe! Don't worry about not being in here much - these types of tribes are pretty slow moving
thanks to all for joining!

Re: say hi!
Tue, July 26, 2005 - 1:11 PMI have only read 'The Prophet', -'bout 11yrs. ago. -But it truly is one of those books that you always have at 'arms reach'. -I've used so many passages from the book for those in need about: Love, Children, Death, Giving and Receiving, -and for that matter, for myself.
I love how it is translated, -western culture rarely communicated in that fashon. -Although I hear it is far more 'gracefull' in his native language.
Thank You for the 'tribe', I look foward to learning more...

Re: say hi!
Tue, June 19, 2007 - 11:09 AMAnd I thought I was fairly isolated in my love of his work. Many, many moons ago, I was reluctantly playing trivial pursuit (not my idea) with a group. There was a question asking for the author of the quote "But let there be spaces in your togetherness." I immediately provided the answer. I was questioned extensively by a member of my team (a literature professor) while being subjected to her ideas as to the origin of the quote. I sited the author, the work and the section to which it related. As most other members of the team followed her lead, I said she could feel free use the author of her choice as she seemed to have a vast knowledge of literature. She decided to use my answer qualifying that it wasn't her first choice but since participation wasn't my idea, she wanted me to feel included. I know, bad girl, but I could not stifle the laughter that erupted after watching the look on her face as it was announced my answer was correct. -

Re: say hi!
Tue, July 3, 2007 - 4:32 AMSorry I took so long to respond to the latest post. It's been empty for so long, I thought I was alone. Has anyone heard of any songs, screen plays, movies, or other outlets taken from the writings of Kahlil? -

Sat, August 11, 2007 - 5:40 AMSeeing as it has been over a month... I would say no. Who owns the rights to his works, or are they free domain? I'm thinking it's time to do an indepedent movie. I think Spirits Rebellious would be a great series. Anyone interested? -

Sat, September 22, 2007 - 8:43 PMAccording to the Wiki, His work is NOT in the Public Domain yet. Something about the "new copyright laws".
I too LOVE his work. -
