Leaving Tribe - cross posted

For personal reasons, I'm leaving Tribe.net. While here, I connected with many wonderful people I've come to call friends, both close and just acquaintence. Thank you for your support and compassion since we met, most especially over the last year. I believe the bellydance phase of my performance life is over and I now look forward to a life in academia and whatever is beyond the horizon. Please keep my email on hand - amadearose32 @ aol.com. Tribal Night 6

Anna and I have in the works Tribal Night 6. The High Five Bar (the same establishment that has hosted all previous TNs) has asked Raks Jahanni to organize another one just like the last one. Then I thought “just like the last one”? What made the last one so special??? Then it hit me…I think it was the dancers that stayed after the show they remember the most. Good times…

Anyway, Anna and I said “sure, why not?”, and the bar says “ok, you have October 20”. Moments later we secured a more than eager local band who heard the words belly and dancers and agreed to play after the show and beat their chests. I think the newly single drummer was the one that spoke up first. They’re not the usual type of band you would see at a belly dancing event, but then again Anna and I aren’t “usual” either. The band rocks my socks off and that’s all that matters.

So here’s the thing…we can’t have a Tribal Night if we don’t have any dancers that want to perform, right? We would like as many people to get back to us within A DAY to tell us if they would like to perform or we won’t have it…seriously! Again, the date is Oct. 20 (a Saturday), and everyone is welcome. You best believe this will be a Halloween themed dance night…we can’t let slide by the one time of year when Anna feels normal, can we??? Feel free to come whacked out in your most disturbing ensemble. Our special friends in dance (Zimra, Chandara Gamal (and troupe), Kira LaFave, Yasmilah, Zahira, Sacred Shimmy, Rachyl, Gypsy Soul, Laylia, Khalida Tribe, Crescent Moon) who have supported us in the past are always welcome to perform. Hit me back if you’re down….

hey gals -

loved your set on saturday. i especially liked - how do i explain it - when you made a staggered line, and 1/2 of you had your arms up and 1/2 of you had it at shoulder height, and you turned it 4 directions, alternating arm positions. does that make a lick of sense? anyway, i liked it a lot! :)

One hour Quicky Hafla.... Meow!

Final tattoo measurement

At roughly 40 weeks the belly tattoo was: 8.5 inches in width and 1.75 inches high. When we placed our bets it was: 7 inches wide and 1.75 inches in height. So who wins the cash prize...?? Look back ladies and see.....that means you Chris, Deanna, and Steph!!

At 5:49am on October 18th, our Nikki and her hubby welcomed William into the world!!! He is a beautiful baby boy, wt. is 7lbs, 9oz and length is 19.5 inches. He's got red hair!!!!!!! I had the honor of being present during his birth! It was a beautiful and miraculous event!! Congrats to Nikki and Todd!!!!! We can't wait for him to be at Khalida practices!!

Friday October 27th, Raks Jahanni will be hosting Tribal Night 4, with a raqin' Halloween theme. The show will be from 9pm-midnight, and featuring all kinds of bellydancers from all kinds of disciplines - Tribal Fusion, ATS, Raqs Sharki, Cabaret, etc. etc. - All with a Halloween flair ;-)
We're hoping to be choc a bloc full of dancers, so if you're in town that night and want to dance, let us know. We'd love to have you.
This is not a tribal only event - all b-dancers are welcome, as long as you're up to bein' a lil halloweenish.

I was shopping at World Market the other day and as usual had to check out the newest jewelry! There's some neat tribal inspired stuff and some really neat "cuffs". Not the ones that I find annoying(the wrap arounds that have that metal slide type deal to keep them on)but long with a nice etched design. Just thought I'd share! Hafla at High Five in Columbus!!!

Hi Kha-ladies!
We are so excited to let everyone know that we will be hosting a hafla at High Five Bar & Grill in the Short North district of Columbus, Ohio.

So far we don't have all the details, but we do have the date: April 28th, 2006.
I will get more info to you as it is finalized.
This will be a fun venue for both dance performance and just getting your groove on!
Hopefully we will be able to get a nice crowd together for this event - both dancers and non dancers - because if it goes over well, we'd like to make it a regular thing. So... mark your calendars!

So I emailed requesting volunteer info. I have permission to share the response here and with anyone else in the local dance community, so help spread the word!
