Hi Guys, there is a new thread on www.bhuz.com (in the forum) and a tribe on here tribes.tribe.net/bbdr about becoming a better dancer in 90 days. The challenge is: at least one hour of bellydance classes/practice a day for 90 days!!!

Lets do it! :-) Inspired by Michelle Joyce's recent post on BHUZ.com as follows:

"Hi Everyone,

I am in recovery... from bad dancing. I was thinking about all my bad dance habits and have decided to attack the problem as an alcoholic attacks sobriety.

When an alcoholic starts AA they are told to do 90 meetings in 90 days. And they are told to seek support.

So - I will be taking 90 dance classes in 90 days. Videos count as a class as long as I actually do them for at least an hour straight. Yoga classes and fitness classes at the gym only count as 1/2 of a dance class.

It doesn't only have to do belly dance stuff. Any style of dance class/video will do. Obviously, there is a focus on belly dance, but I believe that all forms of dance can be helpful to improving your belly dance.

Anyone care to join me? We can support each other and report our progress here. Let the revolution in our dancing begin! Let's start the new year strong, balanced and with new tricks up our sleeves.

-Michelle Joyce"

Hihi, have seen this about a week ago and it's been in my mind ever since...

I'm tempted to join, but taking a class every day is like "mission impossible" for me... Don't think I can combine it with work & other obligations...

Fair of failure is HUGE :-)

I could do something similar like: I will do something bellydance related every day for 90 days (without being strict about the hour a day and yoga and stuff only counting as 30 min)..., but I kinda feel like I'm "cheating" if I make up my own rules :o)

Hmmm however the last few weeks have been really productive for me, so it would be a good thing to keep it going....
the diesel is running now hehe

Maybe I'll just participate secretly, so I won't have to tell anyone if I skipped a day lol

Haha very smart! I think everyone is making their own rules already anyway for this one ;-) Whatever works is fine.. most important is to keep going. Besides, doing something belly dance related every day for 90 days will bring great results already! The timing of Michelle's thread is excellent, no? :-) I needed this so badly to get my butt in gear for Duisburg, and once there I'll get plenty of dance time so I hope to keep the momentum going.

PS: You guys did great on Monday by the way, the practice is showing and costume/makuep was glam! *proud*

Yay, let's get better together! :-) The original thread on Bhuz is here: www.bhuz.com/forum/rest-...dancing.html You can even email Michelle and she will send you a practice DVD if you join the program! There is also a link to a practice calendar you can put on your own computer to log your progress secretly.. arabicdance.net/TEMP/bdaa.html

I'm on page 5 in the Bhuz thread at the moment and am because tribe won't let me edit my posts. www.bhuz.com/forum/rest-...ncing-5.html
It's day 10 for me now, so far so good!

      Hi Khalida
keep it up! Haha, while I relax...
no, to be steady is the main thing, but you are a pro so the schedule is alltogether different. To me, I always have to focus on one thing.
On the menu at this moment is: Raqia shimmy and therefore: quad extra training + walk on flat shoes (sniff!) for my knees started to hurt a little. Posture! (=lat pulls and other excercise + pelvic floor-use, especially for hip circles). Plus choreo repetition. I can't do 90 minutes each day but I try to do sth. every day, even if only a little.

        Hi Nuria,

Those are excellent things to work on! I've done the flat shoes thing for years as well and still struggle with posture when I'm tired but it's working and thats what counts. Will be safer for dancing in the long run as well.
