Welcome!

We are Khalila Ahlaam ("Beloved Dreams"), an American Tribal Style Bellydance troupe in Jacksonville, Florida. We began dancing together in 2005 and have performed at festivals, community celebrations, tribal and bellydance workshops, parties, drum circles and many other venues.

We originally came together in learning American Tribal Style ("ATS") belly dance to utilize an intuitive method of communication; a sharing of leadership. We trust in our fellow dancers and they in us. We are dedicated to sharing our love for this beautiful art form and the bonds it creates by building a strong network of dancers, musicians, artists, educators and creators working together to embrace a positive, supportive,welcoming and vibrant Tribal community. While each of us are General Skills certified in ATS, the original tribal dance created by Carolena Nericcio (Director and Founder of Fat Chance Bellydance), we also have our own talents and gifts.

After almost four years, we are each doing what is the goal of the tribal community -- staying together but at the same time reaching out to create new communities. We are as far away as 55 miles from each other yet feel like we stand shoulder to shoulder.

We have many fond memories of perfoming ATS together and may yet still do so. Please use our site as a guidestar for your journey in the tribal community.

Our Founding and Emeritas Members:

WEST - Melissa - The "ocean" of us because of her depth and many colors and layers. her many talents have displayed here for a long time. Her incredible background in ballroom and grace in ATS has blessed our troupe. But, the demand for her photography has brought her into the music scene and consumes her days now. SOUTH - Lucinda - the "orchid" of us all because of her beauty and resilience. Her extensive experience in oriental dance have haunted her since our conception as a troupe. Lucinda can be found performing with the exquisite Sahara Silks.

NORTH - Diane - She is the "fire" of Khalila Ahlaam because of her spirit.. An avid and accomplished salsa dancer as well as ATS, she is pursuing teaching opportunities in her home domain of Nassau County, north of Jacksonville. Look for chances to learn ATS, oriental or latin dance from her in the North Florida area.

EAST - Margaret - "Marjana" - the "earth" of our troupe because she is grounded at the center. Marjana will continue her pursuits in American Tribal Style. She hopes also to bring a healing ministry of ATS to women who have may still not know their own inner beauty and love of a tribal community. Look for workshops from her in ATS.
