The Collective Flow Experience
Zafira Dance Company Two-Day Immersion - June 22 & 23, 2009

Maria, Olivia & Christine, two days, fourteen hours of immersion into the detailed precision and expression that is Zafira Dance Company.

Flow occurs when the challenge is high, the skills are strong, and creative expression is open. The goal of the Collective Flow Experience is to provide a complete experience of the Zafira Dance Company’s dance philosophy, technique, and expression for the purposes of giving dancers tools and instruction on how to create their own authentic dance expression.

With material never before presented by Zafira, the immersion will incorporate the following topics:

* Skill Mastery and Practice (Drills, Isolation, Layering)
* Stylization, Folk and Ethnic Dance elements (Rajasthani, Vaudeville, and many more.)
* Building blocks: building combinations where moves and gestures flow together seamlessly
* Expression and Creation of Performance - Bringing it all together (Choreography, developing concepts, narrative and musicality)

Each day will start with conditioning and drills. The rest will be part of a larger format flowing from one topic to another.

This Immersion is restricted to about 15 experienced dancers in order to assure a close-working atmosphere with hands on, personal correction and instruction. At the completion of the Immersion, each attendee will receive a decorative certificate of completion.

Where? The Orchard, West Allis, WI.
When? June 22nd & 23rd, 2009. On Monday, the space opens at 8:15am for check-in. The Immersion will begin at 9am. There will be a one-hour lunch break at noon. Some food will be available, but it is recommended that each person bring their own lunch. At 1pm, the Immersion will resume and continue until 5pm. On Tuesday, the space will open at 8:40am, and the schedule will be the same.
How Much? Early Bird Registration, which lasts until April 15th, is $400. After April 15th, registration will raise to $500. (If you pay by paypal, please add $12 to early bird, and $15 to regular registration.)

How Do I Sign Up?! There are 15 guaranteed spots in this event. We may open up a couple more, but in no case more than 20 people total. There is some evaluation that needs to be done of the space and the sheer amount of material that will be covered. Email me at folkfusionista@gmail.com to sign up for the event. I will provide you with the registration form to complete and return to me, as well as instructions how to send payment. You will not be considered registered until both the payment and the form are received. Registration fees are nonrefundable.

What about Hotel, etc? I'm more than happy to suggest a few places.
