Kinetic Steam Works

public - created 01/26/06
Repurposing of industrial icons for modern artistic applications often offers sweet irony. Steam power has not disappeared, it has simply grown up. Going back a century to apply motive power in current industrial art kinetics is an attempt to remove the concept of time and technological evolution.

KSW is looking for additional art to connect with and artists with which to collaborate! Got an Iron Giant that spits fire but no way to make it go? Have a sculpture that needs power to make it move? Bat winged angels dancing on the head of a pin and no way spin it around? Won a Genius Grant and want to build that redwood scale pop-corn popper tactile art environment? Tired of the anonymity of artless (yawn) electric power? Move on up to steam, baby!
