"I was thinking about the Carmelites' emphasis on passion and the Buddhist's parallel emphasis on equanimity. This somehow seemed more important to me than the age-old argument about theism versus nontheism that these two groups usually engage in, and which seems beside the point to me. It suddenly ocurred to me that our nomral understanding of what passion means is loaded with the idea of clinging, of wanting something or someone, of fearing losing them, of possessiveness. What if you had passion without all that stuff, passion without attachment, passion clean and pure? What would that be like, what would that mean? I thought of those wonderful moments in meditation when I've felt my heart open, a painfully wonderful sensation, a passionate feeling but without clinging to any content or person or thing. And the two words suddenly coupled in my mind and made a whole. Passionate equanimity, passionate equanimity- to be fully passionate about all aspects of life, about one's relationship with spirit, to care to the depths of one's being but with no trace of clinging or holding, that's what the phrase has come to mean to me. It feels full, rounded, complete, and challenging.

This feels right to me, very deep to me, very central to what I have been working on for many years, going back to the name change. It's like the first part of my life was learning passion. The life after cancer, equanimity. And now bringing them together. This feels so important! And it seems slowly but surely to be permeating all aspects of my life. I still have a ways to go! But it feels like I can finally see the road clearly, on that "journey without goal."

And as for the task before me, it means to work passionately for life, without attachment to results. Passionate equanimity, passionate equanimity. So appropriate!'

How about, we are not our emotions? They are passing through... they are not good not bad, just a phenomenon....
Now, in order to let go of clinging, of holding on, it's wise to go through an attraction and aversion test. What do I mean by that?
Well, why would one want to cling on? Usually it has to do with safety reasons. Why would one want to manipulate a relationship...
it has usually much to do with control issues. What are the advantages of clinging? Well, it makes us feel safe, maybe we find a father for future child... etc... Now, what are the disadvantages of clinging? Well, it may stifle the relationship, and it can lead to insecurities.

There are many other advantages and disadvantages to clinging.... or any other kind of emotion.

How can one get rid of the notion of clinging? Well, imagine to feel the clinging in your body, maybe in your gut or chest area. Feel as if you will be clinging on and on for the rest of your life, do nothing but cling and then put a cosmic light tube inot that feeling, wherever it is sstored in the body and then let go..... take the lid of the light tube and the cling feelings pops right out, see if you feel lighter, let go, even more and even more.... It's kinda like progressive relaxation. Be envisioning the feeling stronger than it is we dig it up and let it out instead of stuffing it down and using it later as an unconscious weapon against our fellow human beings.

Or envisions the following: what if I can't cling on for the rest of my life? What if I can not feel safe or in control for the rest of my life.... what will happen? Nothing! We are free... we are safe anyway and in control and if we die we die, if we love we love.... no difference. We let the feeling of clutching and resisting go through the light tube, even more and even more.... and suddenly we feel lighter and lighter.

Now if you release all of our emotions day by day... and remember that many of our emotions are geared towards ego enhancing approval seeking motives, giving us security and control...now imagine to let go and replace these feelings with courageousness, acceptance and peace, we may find out that the natural state of our being is Lovingness and Beingness.

In that state good things happen.... we allow ourselves a life... we allow ourselves a partner, we allow ourselves a job, we don't need them, we don't want them but if they come fine, and of nothing of that comes we are fine for we are always sheltered in Divine Beingness.
Anyway... I sure practice that and it helps me a lot to be more free.

And, yes Dave, we hold our bliss no matter what... you are so right. I know how this works from personal experience.

synchronicity is happening all around us. same subjects, same books and persons have begun to pop up in our lives. as if some divine hand is doing all it can to open our eyes, and hearts...

and yes, have also been spending time thinking about passion, and discussing with fellow lightworkers (or seekers, or whatever we shall name ourselves :) and yes, passion is that creative force that brought us here, and it's inside every one of us. we have to dig in and find it. pure passion.
but the difficvlty i found was finding the way to it. maybe it'S the love we feel for something or someone, we can begin building up from that, or a passion for arts, or nature... but what's obvious is that we must light that fire within, and then let it shine outwards...

        blessings to all...

          rosa, yes!

maybe that's just it. basing ourselves in that passion, that love, and the creative aspects that flow through. from there, working with others, inter-subjective, interactive play and creation, all based in simply 'being' and being passionately. Projects, writings, artwork, community, dialogue, teaching and learning. Maybe that's part of what this synchronicity is all about, discovering the unity in those who seem to be arising in your life. Not in terms of mental unity, or object unity, but deep down - how we are not different than one another, how we are one at heart. Many speak of 2012 as an important gateway into a new form of consciousness. I'm not sure about that, but I'm open to it. I know, though, that the awareness and love and godhead, Spirit, is always present. "Consent to the presence of Spirit" is one mantra I have learned recently. May we consent to such a presence in our lives, be aware and act out of awareness....

This entire thread moves me to...passion. :) Really, I have thought of passion as providing the energy for action, for movement. But I like the idea of sitting with it and just being. Being aware. And, YES, the synchronicity. The right timing...

I recently read that Synchronicity is God's way of speaking to us. The trick is being still enough to be able to hear it.
